I've taken 4 trailor loads of clothes, kitchenware, furniture. They take anything saleable, except for computer monitors and probably old TVs. The volunteers will help you unload your wares. Found this little spot hidden in between some other businesses and decided to give it a go after…read morehaving a utter failure right before. It is a very tiny store jam packed with various items. The shoe rack is behind clothing racks of odds and ends of again various styles, sizes etc. Doesn't seem to have any sort of organizational system going on. If you walk in the back you pass through a vinyl record section all of them covered in a layer of dust. I'm sure there are some great oldies in there for you collectors. Keep walking you find yourself in a back room filled halfway with hardback and paperback books. The old book smell is overwhelming but if you like that like I did it brought back memories of libraries and used book stores with my dad. Thanks for the nostalgia. The other half of this room is tools and hardwares I was not interested in any of that. I felt as if I was on that hoarders show. I'm sure there was so many treasures I missed because the sheer magnitude of stuff was looking over my head. It was too much to handle. Slight old smell maybe some organization would help this store owner out. I want to go back in the future and see if what is new if anything. There may be items of value there you gotta search through the treasure boxes.

I bought a $500 double stroller here for $50!!! They are only open on Tuesday's and Thursday's. On Tuesday's they are open from 9:00AM-1:00PM and Thursday's they're open from 2:00PM-6:00PM. I had just moved back to my hometown, Yerington, and needed "almost everything" to settle into my new space. Many of the lovely essentials I find around me now come from both that early, urgent time over 2 years ago..when inexpensive, was very important..and quality really mattered. And my life here now. I see things I bought from Ed. While this continues be true at "Thrifty Things" and remains the reason many shop there, enjoying help from Ed's very dedicated family members who "make it work" even when it's very busy....There are those who have yet to walk through that simple front door to take a "look around"...maybe even venture into some of the lively back rooms loaded with shiny, serviceable objects.. Some find affordable things they never knew they really, really needed ! This can matter long-term for Yerington because even though Ed is a modest man he has proven to be a generous and dependable contributor to more than one "good cause" here in our little town. Finally found this store on yelp!! I went to this store when i was struggling in life a few years…read moreback and genuinely felt such peace walking in to this little home away from home. The staff are such amazing individuals , i wish i could remember the name of the lady who took the time to have a conversation with me, i will never forget our talks about her farm. I came in here to shop and the lady who claims to be the owner was nice at first. Once I looked…read morearound and decided to purchase an item with my debit card, she then became rude and changed her tone of voice. It was strange. As if I was not good enough to shop there because I didn't have cash. Needless to say I left and will not be spending my hard earned money there. Some items were way overpriced for the age and condition, other items were fairly priced. Just a tip for a young business owner: Your customers are the ones who make your business successful. Treat them as such!
