Grassroots Books is a very good used bookstore with a lot of variety of material-- children's books, DVD's, some records, gently used paperback and hardcover books. Hours are flexible for when they are open, however, they only buy books on Thursdays during the afternoon. I have never been tempted much to sell anything to them over the years, as they tend to be quite choosy with the material that they want and don't want. As a longtime book collector, this is important to maintaining a quality used stock and helps with inventory management. I highly recommend Grassroots for your next book adventure!

I love Cathy M. who is sometimes at the counter there. She is knowledgeable about books and everything local. A very nice person, as are they all. Of course I will get rid of books then cruise the aisles here looking for more. The selection is wide; the store is well organized and labelled by category signs hanging from the ceiling. Only one thing lacks. They need a library cat. Aside from that. This is a great little spot and the money you spend there goes to Sierra Resource Center which helps residents in need. The shelves were brimming and there was plenty of staff on hand to help find things and answer questions. Normally, I am an independent bookstore supporter and I do still buy the majority of my books from smaller independent booksellers. Unfortunately, I haven't found an independent bookstore in Nevada -- North or South -- that compares to the likes of Vroman's in Pasadena (if you have a recommendation, I am all ears). That said, if you are in the Reno area and want a brick and mortar bookstore with a huge selection, this is the place. And they do offer some decent discounts, so keep an eye out for the books that have been marked down. I was able to pick up a first edition of Patti Smith's new memoir at 50% off!

The employees were nice, particularly the young lady that helped my niece; she patiently looked up the title of the book even though my niece didn't have all the information. While inside Barnes & Noble, we also stopped by Starbucks to indulge in some sweet treats before making our way out the store. Even though our visit was fruitless (book-wise, not drink-wise), we still had a positive shopping experience.

They even have a few boxes of 25 cent boxes. I found quite a few comics to complete a few series I started collecting years ago. What a great deals. Robert and Tim were super nice. One of the comics I need was not in stock except for a pack of 4 and I didn't need the other 3. Tim was willing to break up the package so I could buy just the one. They were so nice and accommodating. I will definitely be visiting again next time I am in Tahoe.

From the moment you walk into this bookstore, you feel excited. It doesn't even have a traditional…read morebookstore smell. Maybe the vast number of vinyl records balances out the dusty paper. (Which I do love BTW) This store has one of the most intuitive layouts I've ever encountered in a bookstore, and the selection, wow! After making all of my selections, I spoke to the owner for a bit. He seems to have a passion for finding everything interesting and unique. What a nice guy! I tried to keep it reasonable and only bought four books, but I already have plans to go back, and I reached out to friends who are in the area to see if there's anything they need! It seems more critical now than ever to have as many books as you can so that we don't lose history.

Metal fold-out stairs lead into the truck where book lovers will find thousands of different titles geared for readers of all ages and phases. Very briefly we had a pop-up location inside Sierra Water, the cutest plant shop in Reno, but we chose to close it up at the end of February. Visit the truck at Riverside Farmers Market on Saturdays...switches to Sundays in May!
