I was quite happy with the service performed by Stumpy's and their price was lower than the other bid I had received. The work was to remove a large amount of mistletoe from a tall oak tree in my backyard. I contacted four tree services; one never came by to give me a quote (after two calls and their assurance that they would), one never returned my call, and two gave me quotes including Stumpy's. From start to finish the process was efficient and professional. I was able to get an appointment for an estimate within about a week. Their estimator showed up as scheduled. The estimate was completed the same day and delivered by email. I was able to accept and sign the contract electronically. Since the job was rather small, it was scheduled as a floater meaning they would fit it in when they were in the area an had time (I did not have to be home since there was easy access to the tree). They came by 12 days later and completed the task. I was not home, so I didn't get to see them in action, but the finished results were as expected and clean-up very thorough. Stumpy's Tree Service was great. We had a very large olive tree in our yard that was not only messy, it was also starting to cause us some concern. The Tree was so large it started to break the brick barrier around it and ruin the surrounding grass. The Olive Tree trunk and roots were very large as well, so we were also worried about the sprinkler system for the grass and the pipes below. Stumpy's removed the tree promptly and professionally with no problems at all. They also took care of the roots and ground the stump. I was very worried about the pipes and sprinkler system but Stumpy's put my mind at ease with their knowledgeable Staff, they knew exactly what to do safely. Glenn and his crew did a great job! Tree removal - was done quickly and carefully so not bump our house. Glenn and his crew also left the area nice and clean. They even laid down boards to avoid damaging the lawn. I called around and got three tree trimming quotes, Stumpy's was the most reasonable, but I didn't base my decision solely on price. Glenn, the estimator and owner, impressed me with his knowledge and his approach to balancing the trim to benefit the trees. Glenn's crew were very careful around my shrubs, tile roof, gas lamp, etc. They even put plywood sheets on the roof and over the windows to protect them while they worked overhead. They did an excellent job, the trees never looked better and the clean up was unbelievable. After they finished I did find that they snapped a PVC pipe to my sprinklers. In this case, the great Yelp reviews are more than 100% accurate. We got bids from 3 tree service companies to remove 2 Yucca palms in our back yard, grind the stumps, and also trim a neighbor's tree that was getting too close to our house. Not an easy job since the palms were growing right next to our common fence. Glenn (owner) came out personally to make the bid, discuss our options, and offer suggestions. Based on Glenn's professionalism and the positive Yelp community reviews, we went ahead and scheduled the work with Stumpy's. We did have a bit of a scheduling mix-up at the start, which Glenn took full accountability for, but got the work scheduled at a time that worked for us. Glenn and his crew arrived 10 minutes early, reviewed the work with me and introduced me to Chad who would oversee the job. The crew got right to work and successfully dealt with a somewhat limited access to the back yard and with having to remove two sections of fence to get at the stumps. End result - a great job. Any evidence of the palm trees has vanished. The fence is up and looks great, my neighbors tree is no longer threatening to invade my house, and the thorough clean up makes it hard to believe the work was ever done. Glenn is professional, honest, friendly, and takes extreme pride in the work his company does. This is reflected in his crew. We recently had a lot of tree work done by Stumpy's at our new home in Livermore. We had a number of trees and stumps removed and some tree trimming and palm tree clean up. They did a great job! They were able to get some of our work done well ahead of the scheduled date as 'floater' work- which we greatly appreciated- as we needed to remove some trees next to the house ASAP to stop the rats from climbing onto our roof. Their communication and timeliness was all great- from the office to the estimator, and the work crew. They were neat and tidy- they seemed to leave the area better than it was when they got there. After Researching and getting multiple estimates for the removal of a volunteer native oak and two additional trees we chose Stumpys Tree Service to do the job. The arborist Ed was the only person to check on the spot our city's permit process (yes we needed one due to the oak trees size). No stars for Stumpy's Tree Service but it made me put one! These people were unorganized from day one! They came out for an estimate and sent me an email but when I called, they couldn't find it. The name and address was all messed up. Supposedly they fixed it and I set a date for the work to be done which was a month away. They called me the week before to verify and i confirmed. The day of, they no showed and when I called, they had no record that they were supposed to be at my house! The lady who answered the phone was ridiculous and unorganized. Very professional and took care of our yard, cypress trees. Because of all the storms and wind, our cypresses were blown over and many needed to be staked again. I don't think I can remember a time when I've received faster service in my life. The wind and rain were intense today. We ended up having a tree fall onto our covered patio. I called Stumpy's at 3:46pm, the lady on the phone was super nice, she got my info, asked me to text pictures, then at 3:52 pm she said someone was in the area that could come by to take a look at it. Glenn came by at 4:13pm gave me an estimate on the spot, about an hour later (if that) the guys showed up with the big chipper truck, removed the tree and were done by 5:51pm. They did a great job, everyone was friendly, thanking me for my business, I couldn't of had a better experience. There's a reason that they have 5 stars. They literally blew me away today! I've never had a tree removed before- honestly we should've had that tree removed a long time ago- it was dead, so I can't say whether or not their prices are competitive. I don't know how much people pay for this, but It seemed reasonable especially when you consider that they had to go on the roof, they remove the thing so you don't have to deal with it. The service starts when you place a phone call - they actually answer the phone not like other tree services. I made an appointment and received a follow-up the day before and the day of - excellent. Glen came to my home and was very good and knowledgeable - so I hired them to do the work. The day before the service a follow-up call, the day of the service a call to confirm - great service. The tree trimmers that cut our trees the whole crew was friendly and went about their work in a timely fashion. After the trees were trimmed, cut - the crew cleaned up and did not leave one trace of wood, dust of leaves. I had 19 Italian Cypress Trees which were 30' tall that needed to be cut back. I also had 3 pear trees to be shaped and thinned. After some research we decided on Stumpys. I had called multiple other tree service companies and found that they were scheduling jobs MONTHS away from now. After seeing the Stumpy's truck parked at in my neighborhood while they were working I decided to call. They were able to get a time slot for a detailed quote within a couple weeks and the job was scheduled a couple weeks after the quote. The owner and arborist is a class act. He knows his trees and pleasantly surprised me with how genuinely excited he was to see we have an avocado tree. The crew arrived on time. We did a walkthrough to confirm the extents to which the trees would be cut back and they promptly got to work on the 5 large trees we have. We very much appreciated their efforts to prevent damage to our synthetic grass. Plywood was laid down and it worked perfectly. I did not expect them to rake up all the fallen leaves from the windy days that preceded the job but they left our front and back yard very clean and void of any debris. I also appreciate the way they used their power equipment. Chain saws were only on for a few moments at a time, not left idling endlessly. Stumpy's is a class act all around. Found Stumpy's on Yelp and gave them a call. Glenn came to our house to actually look at the tree and give us an estimate. To our delight, he told us the tree didn't need to be taken down. He told us all about the tree (what kind of pine it was, how big it would get, the reason it was leaning, etc.) and answered all our questions (even about another tree in the front yard).
