A few weeks ago, while in Ocean City NJ, I purchased my favorite Butter Mints. Back home and hungry for more I saw that Stutz's also had them. What a disappointment! The initial creamy texture expected is a crunch! I believe they may be left from last summer. No wonder they have signs posted NO RETURNS, REFUNDS or EXCHANGES! Stopped in the other day (12/2024) and it was rather obviously that much of the candy, in boxes all over the store, is quite old. For instance, Chocolate Straws (the old fashioned candy; which I love) was one rock solid piece. Since I buy this stuff every holiday, I know that is exactly what happens when it's sits for a long time. I avoided buying things I thought 'looked' old, buy my adult son and both spent around 20 bucks each. I bought Hot Cocoa cordials and peanut butter malted milk balls. If you've ever had a cordial candy, it is filled with a liquor liquid. When I got home, they tasted funny, and the cordial center was hardened, not liquid at all. These are clearly very old candies. It's just a shame. This place used to a be a go to , but the Warrington store I was a major disappointment. I ended up throwing away the cordials. The pb malted milk balls were fine. read more

Hard to tell if quality has gone downhill since most of my purchases were gifts for friends. The prices have gone up but what else is new - get use to it. I did buy and eat their chocolate covered pretzels and they were very good. One box of chocolates went to a family member who moved to Florida and he said they were really good. They are CRAZY popular during the usual candy-holidays (christmas, valentine's, easter, halloween) - so go early, go during the week or you may have some of the issues mentioned below - on crowds, disorganization and stressed staff. The store is smaller and the selection can be overwhelming - so be sure to engage with the staff to be pointed towards your favorites or preview on their website ahead of time. I ordered online and was shocked to discover their butter crunch had no butter in it. The chocolates are tasteless and have wax in them. Everything I ordered tasted terrible was a synthetic version of what they should be. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!! read more

Nice store full of a huge selection of candies in boxes. Sitting there for goodness knows how long. There really are a lot of boxes of candy just sitting there. The chocolates we purchased were grainy and too-sweet. Full of preservatives and artificial ingredients, too. Not very good. The employees weren't able to answer simple questions like "what is in this?" since ingredients are not listed for individual items on their packaging of "own made" candies. I was given a box of Halloween candy wrapped in foil bought at Stutz's as a gift. The candy was whitish inside and had no taste. I took it back and the lady said that they don't stand behind any of the candy that they don't make themselves. Even if it's bad or went bad. Her response was so surprising. I have been going here for years and so has my whole family! Stutz used to own the entire building and down sized to half within the past few years, no longer making candy in the back. I believe it is all shipped from Hatboro. Stutz is great- it is always fully stocked with fresh candies as well as some manufactured favorites. My favorites are anything with their buttercream and their chocolate covered pretzels. The only downside is, some of the packaged candies (like the fruit jellies) which they don't make but order, get to be stale. But their chocolate is always fresh! If you go after a holiday you get the best deals! They also always have great gifts! read more

Sorry @Michael - but I disagree. Yes, Stutz is an area landmark - they've been around for DECADES - but the candiesare just MEH. (Better than Russell Stover - but not great.) They are a fresher version of drugstore "assortment" chocolates. ICK. Once you've had fine chocolates (Michel Cluizel, Teuscher, Leonidas) you can't eat this dreck any longer. read more

I've had Ashers, Godiva, Gertrude Hawk, Russell Stovers (bleh!), and more. Stutz's is where it's at. My sister & her family moved out west and can't get Stutz's anymore, so my mom packed some up and flew them out to the family. Their peanut butter smidgens, nonpareils, and coconut clusters are holiday staples in our household. If you have taste buds, you should try Stutz's. They're consistent and delicious. Totally unorganized for Easter. This is the Warrington store. The staff is rude and nasty. Especially the one with the short dark hair. They have no clue what customer service is. They were charging me almost $70 for five 2 0z sold chocolate bunnies which are one inch by one inch. Are they kidding. So I said something and they were so unprofessional about it. I still think I was ripped off. They pushed the cart out the door like everyone had kooties or something were all in this together but I didn't see wear you guys were wearing gloves or masks. If you can't treat your customers with respect then don't have a business. read more

Great candy! HORRIBLE service. I only come up to see my in-laws ever so often and EVERY time I have came in there has been a dark haired rude lady at the front desk. First time I was going to buy a lot (like 60$ worth) and was excited. If it worked out I would have spent hundreds for everyone I wanted to give candy to. Needless,to say this lady made me spend far less and I just want to leave ASAP. She is rude and glares at you, refuses to listen and scoffs at you when you try to say OR ask anything. She is even rude to the person clearly buying something! Some one asks to buy more and your response to them is getting mad at the person and tell nag them all you WONT do.... Great chocolate, not worth it by far to have to deal with such a nasty person working your front counter. 3 strikes and you are out.....if anyone reads this KNOW they are willing to be horrible to you no matter how much you buy. 400$+ and she is still rude as hell to my SO.(he is to much of a sweet heart to say anything but always comes out with his head hanging down) read more

We like Stutz's for their wide variety of fine, freshly made chocolate, which is made locally. We provide Stutz's to our friends across the country (and beyond) ... each of whom tend to have their favorites. Those who opt for Stutz's own sugar-free chocolates will never know they are eating sugar-free ... the taste is THAT good! Karen and JC seem to suggest Stutz is merely a step above Russel Stover, only because Stutz has fresh chocolate. As with anything else, you can always pay more, but that does not necessarily mean it is better. Karen wants you to pay $40 per pound, while JC wants you to pay $20 per pound. Have I had Leonidas or Pierre's? No (but I am sure they are good). Do I want to, or need to drive to New Hope or NYC to spend $40 for a pound of chocolate? No. If I was in New Hope or NYC, I'd rather spend that extra $ on a nice dinner at a quaint restaurant. read more

I've been a customer for years and I received poor customer service there today and I will not be going back. After waiting in line to get assistance with an item that was in a case, I was told that I'd have to wait in the same line again to be rung up for my purchase because the register near us was not open. I was amazed at the poor customer service skills this person had. So, I suggested that maybe she could take my few items to the open register, since I had already waited in that line. She acted exasperated but did it while making it a point to tell the other workers, and the other customers in line,that she had to squeeze me in. It was rude and embarrassing. Anyone who thinks this is great chocolate is not a chocolate aficionado . Like another reviewer said better than Russel Stover but not by much. For much better quality in the area if you are heading towards Doylestown try Raymors. For the absolute BEST though a bit of a drive if not headed that way is Pierre's in New Hope. You'll never eat chocolate anywhere else after Pierre's. read more

Stutz's double dip mints are first rate. Yes, they have been making them for decades and are a family tradition as gifts for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Can't find a fresher, tastier chocolate mint anywhere. It was sad when they closed the Mayfair store. Lunch at the Mayfair diner, cross the avenue and then poke around the candy store after.
