I used to have a great alterations place in Lauderdale by the Sea but now that I live in downtown I wanted to find something closer. Since I ride my bike by Stychin Tyme on a regular basis on Las Olas I wanted to stop by and see if I could get a few things fixed. I finally stopped by and I was greeted by Zohreh as soon as I walked in, I needed a few stitches in the back of a dress fixed, she fixed it right away while I was looking around, she was so quick I didn't even notice she had finished it already and then she wouldn't charge me for it! I am so extremely disappointed. I saw this place, it looked like a really good find for alterations. I had a blouse that had a small tear at the sleeve, so I took it to the owner and she actually found another tear on the other sleeve and said she could shorten the sleeves and would charge me $30. I picked it up last week, and when I went to put it on today for my meeting, and there is an even LARGER tear on the side. This should've been communicated to me. Let me start off by saying Zohreh is a life savor. I had ordered a second wedding dress for my reception online. Well they lost the dress and after fighting with the company, they sent me a new one which arrive 2 days before i had to leave out of town to Vegas for my wedding. I still needed to alter the dress, add a rhinestone belt and a slit up the front ( Vegas wedding). Zohreh had everything done for me just in time for me to leave. She did an amazing job. She also did my whole wedding party 10 girls and my moms alterations pretty last minute for everyone. She is always able to help me with an alteration in a time crunch if i need it. I believe the owner is much more than a good seamstress- maybe a magician! She can make a size 16 garment turn into a size 4! Everyone needs someone who knows how to make a garment fit better on your frame and Zohveh can do this. She has made my off the rack suits fit properly in all the right places and I highly recommend her for even the most difficult jobs. AND even though she is in an exclusive neighborhood she does not price gouge her clients. I wish I could give 0 stars! I took 2 tee shirts in to be shortened. Easy job, or should be. I would have done it myself if I had an overlocker on my sewing machine. So the ladies in the shop never mentioned that they didn't have an overlocker. They just sewed a hem with a regular machine stitch so there is still an un-sealed edge on the inside. Not even a stretch stitch! So the tee shirts are curling up on the bottom now. I could have done it better myself! So for this shabby, half-assed job they charged me.......wait for it......drum roll........$5o! Yes FIFTY FREAKING DOLLARS! UNBELIEVABLE RIP OFF! I questioned it but they said that was the price. I will never, ever go there again. The only upside is that right slap bang next door is THE most wonderful and awesome massage therapist, Robert Brush. I really, really, really wanted this alterations place to work out for me. I had heard from my coworker such wonderful things and have been on the hunt for a great alterations place for a while now. I brought in a dress on a Monday that needed to be done so I could wear it to an event that Saturday. The hips were to be taken in and the bottom was to be tapered more. I was assured it would be ready for pickup on Friday. I had to pay up front ($45) which made me a little wary because I wasn't even really sure how it was going to turn out. I paid, and left. Friday morning rolls around and I get a phone call that my dress won't be ready until Monday of the next week. I was annoyed (but very polite and didn't show it) and asked why since I needed it that Saturday and wouldn't be able to wear it. I didn't get a straight response, and was just told that they would call when it was ready. I had to wear something else for the event and was pretty bummed out because this dress is a stunner and one of a kind. Come Monday, I hear nothing. Then comes Tuesday.....still nothing. I call Wednesday and am told it'd be ready that afternoon. I went and picked it up and left, clearly upset. I go to wear the dress a few days later and it is STILL too big. I didnt get to wear it for my event and paid money to have it still not fit right. I'm extremely disappointed because it was ready over a week and a half later not even to high standards. Clearly it had not been even looked at until I called. I know this place has been in business for a long time, and I hope others have had a better experience. I had to have a formal dress basically reconstructed to fit me properly and hemmed. Anyone that knows me can tell you I am hard to please, very particular and expect a high level of customer service. I am tall, relatively speaking, as I guess I would be a short basketball player but at 6'6" I have never been able to shop at "the mall" . To get a sport jacket sleeve to get close to my wrists I had to buy jackets that were obviously too broad. Since meeting Zohreh, my jackets actually fit, plus I can shop anywhere because she can make anything not only fit but fit perfectly. I have never been accused of being a sharp dresser, mostly due to the constant struggle to fit 37" sleeves and 36" inseams ending at size 15 feet lol. The reason for going on so long is to to underscore a lifetime of frustration trying to dress well. After literally laughing "with" me Zohreh explained there was no need to wear clothes that didn't fit. I now wear FITTED suit coats, pants etc etc and at a cost way below what one would expect for this quality. She will always be my "personal" tailor! Do yourself a favor, she can be your personal seamstress/tailor as well. I haven't even mentioned the custom made clothes she designs and makes, all by hand, and all beautifully crafted, she is truly an artist. Alas too young for this old guy but I wish I would have met her years ago, I definitely would have looked better for it! read more
