I have been to this location a few times before I became a regular customer. The service is amazing each visit. My eyebrows are threaded and last about 4weeks normally. Due to covid she has take greater practices to keep everyone safe. She takes temperatures and sanitize your hands before entering into the business. Employees are cautions and wipe everything between each customer. With time for drying of each surface after cleaning. I feel more like family than a customer each visit. read more

After many terrible visits at other places where I leave with my eyebrows too thin or uneven, I finally started coming here. I feel really bad writing this but the time has come. I had been a loyal customer for over 11 years and I'm done with this place. Here are the reasons why: 1. Staff turnover - of course I expect moderate turnover in a beauty establishment but I recognize no one but Zahra when I walk in. The past 4 threadings feel like it's the techs first time and I can PAINFULLY feel the yanking on the same hair over and over then finally on the the next one. The whole experience takes waaaay longer then it should and is much more painful than it should be. Remember, I've been having them threaded for 11+ years... I know what it's supposed to feel like. It's so much worse there lately. 2. HOURS!!! The past two Mondays, when their website says they are clearly open, I've been turned away at the door because they were open only for training. "But I can make an appointment for you tomorrow." If I wanted to come tomorrow I would have. The last time I was turned away, I went straight to Miracle Browz and had a phenomenal experience. See my review. 3. Forced appts. As I explain to them literally every time I come there, my schedule is too unpredictable for an appointment. One of the last times I came there for a walk-in I was there for 45 minutes and no one could serve me. I mean, I know I'm taking a chance by walking in but it was not busy, they were just understaffed. I finally stood up and went to the front desk and told them "I have to go, I'm sorry". You'd have thought I had used foul language by the reaction I got. Like "how dare you not want to wait forever!" I shrugged and walked out. 4. Random oddities - I actually heard Zahra giving a performance review to one of the front desk staff in front of all the customers waiting. It was the weirdest thing. When the staff member hung up a phone call that came in, I heard Zahra ask her " now how could you have handled that call differently?" And when talking to a customer at the desk she asks her after the interaction "what else could you have said to that customer to make her feel more welcome?" Now I applaud Zahra for wanting her staff polite and well trained and she was trying to talk quietly but we all heard her (I remember exchanging confused/amused looks with another patron across the room) and the staff member receiving the advice looked majorly embarrassed and uncomfortable. Customers shouldn't have to hear any of this, and I feel like that should be some sort of HR violation. Another oddity is the obstacle course of accessories you have to wade through to make it to the massive front desk that hardly any of them can see over. The space is too small to be cramped like this. It's just odd and off-putting. 5. Inconsistent results. I've never had anything but brows done here and they never look the same from one visit to another. One is always longer/thinner than the other. I tell them I want them thick and some of the techs seem bent to whittle them away to nothing, leaving me having to fill them in with pencil. And I've mentioned the pain - that's just lack of experience on the techs part. If you slowly and systematically pluck at one hair at a time, it's going to hurt. It sucks it had to end this way, but I've had it. The two stars is for the many times I've had a wonderful experience but it's been way too long. I've found a new place that can handle walk-ins, is $5 cheaper, and did a phenomenal job. read more

Every woman has a regular beauty routine: manicure/pedicure, blowouts, Brazilian waxes, facials, etc. A few years ago, I discovered this gem during college and I have become a regular eyebrow threading client because of Style by Zahra. Threading is more pristine and pain-free than plucking or waxing. My skin doesn't get inflamed and I won't have to fret about future wrinkles from waxing. The results are nothing like a threading mall kiosk treatment. I'm moving back to the D.C. metro area, but I will miss Style by Zahra. I have been spoiled by their standards and I have yet found a salon that is as affordable as here ($12 + cash tip). I've probably been threaded by all of the ladies here and have no complaints. This is my first time having my brows threaded at this shop and I was extremely happy! I also went with my daughter and they were very friendly, professional and accommodating. The place was cozy, comfortable and had ambiance. We felt as though we were home. I had my brows and lip threaded in other places however they had never been as thorough as they were at Zahras. Just moved back from New York where there are tons of options. I'm so happy I found Style by Zahra! I was in and out in 10 minutes. It hurt a little - which is honestly not a lot. I've just had threading sessions that were virtually painless. My technician was meticulous and threaded in such a way so that the regrowth would enhance the shape of my brows. Nice. These are the best eyebrows I've ever had -- threading gives such a clean line, and the ladies at Zahra are great. They're nice, good at what they do, and fast too. I think last time I was in and out in less than 10 minutes -- and I only made my appointment 20 minutes in advance. I suggest being pretty specific about what you want. I've found that they take me more seriously than I expected. When I said 'not too thin' I didn't get much of an arch. But when you ask for what you want, you get the absolute best version. I come here all the time. The staff in the front is always nice. They do change out a lot. You get used to the front receptionist and there gone again. The eyebrow threading experience is better, it gives you a clean look. It can be a little painful, just let your technician know to ease up on the heavy hand. Threading last longer than waxing, in my opinion. I would strongly suggest you make appointments with your favorite technician in advance. Last minute appointments can be hard to come by. My only issue has been with eyebrow tinting, I've had to come back twice because the color isn't penetrating for some reason. Overall, this is a good place to get the services you need for hair removal. Don't be shy to make your request known before services are performed. I'm only giving 3 stars because the hours are sometimes unpredictable. Last minute appointments with your favorite technician have to be made days in advance. It can be an inconvenience especially if you don't have a backup place to go to. I would be remiss not to say that the owner, Zahra is very customer service oriented and strives for perfection. I really used to love this place but after two years and two of my favorite technicians leaving, it is not as great as it used to be. I have yet to find someone I trust to consistently do an outstanding job - just satisfactory. Too many changes that were NOT an improvement to the eyebrow threading service changed this place from great to ok. It used to be a small, customer service based location. Now it is very "sales based" and missing the mark on customer service. The front counter is gaudy, too large/tall and impersonal. The front desk staff can usually be annoying - name overkill and annoying personal questions are expected each time. There is / was one lady who talks really loud and can be rude to the technicians during check out, like she has entitlement over them. I would love to bypass spending any time at that horrid front counter. A threading session has gone up to $15 unless you purchase one of the buy 3/4 get one free certificates when offered. Not every technician is equally skilled so if you are a walk-in ask questions and then thoroughly explain what you want, if not you run the risk of having your brows "ruined." None of the technicians are booked all day every day so walk-ins are possible and recommended unless there is an upcoming holiday. read more

Good threading outcome. I've been a customer for over a year and probably will continue, but the techs vary in quality greatly. My most useful tip is to NOT make an appointment, but instead walk in. I made an appointment once and was 2 minutes late. I had to wait 45 minutes and got passed over by 3 walk ins before they saw me. By contrast, almost every time I walk in I wait for 5 min max and then am in the chair. Seems weird, but try walking in unless you can control traffic and ensure an on-time arrival! read more

While Styles by Zahra did a good job tinting my eyebrows, I did not care for their threading services. Between the two different women I went to, I was constantly fixing them after I left. I did not appreciate that their pricing was different in store than what was listed on their website, nor when I was bruised by the threading of being promised next visit free, being charged like nothing had happened. The final straw of me being their customer was that same "free" visit I was talked down to about being bruised. The threader made a smart remark in a nice way...if that makes any sense. I don't feel like paying good money to fix my eyebrows, be bruised, and not be cared for as a customer. In all fairness that was my experience with the technique of only two of the threaders, there are many other ladies there that I did not try. My bad experience lied with the owner so that is the biggest reason why I found a completely different place. Nice people, I just think the owner could be more caring towards customer complaints rather than pressuring you as you're expressing a bad experience. I also remember I was asked to text pictures of my bruise, which is fine but it was dismissed as the thread bothering my skin. I've had my brows done plenty of times to know when the technique was too rough. Bruising is a cause of rough threading not skin irritation...that would be a rash. read more

NO NO NO My experience was horrific! I am a foreign languages major and I went to Style By Zahra to get my brows threaded. Once I was in the chair, I could hear the stylists, speaking in Hindi amongst themselves, talking about how "getting a brow threading wasn't going to help her ugly face" about the person in the chair next to me. The stylist who worked on me spoke enough english that I could confidently explain to her what I wanted but my brows still ended up too thin and it was much more painful that the technicians at Mango or Sola Salon in Short pump. read more

I was once a four- or five-star fan of this place...now I feel like I visit more out of obligation because I have yet to find a comparable threading shop in the Richmond metro area. Don't get me wrong, the techs I have dealt with some to know their stuff (except one...which led me to the second...who went back to her home country without notice and led me to my third and current tech). However, the level of service I have been provided with has fluctuated over the years I have visited. The turnover rate for receptionists seems to be extremely high; every few months or so, there seems to be a new gal working the front desk! The prices for threading services are fairly reasonable and the techs are quick. If you walk in, particularly on the weekend, you run the risk of waiting a while. The lady who threaded my brows was so sweet. She took her time and listened to what i had to say, keeping my brows full. They were really, really busy. I was a walk-in. There were three people ahead of me and it took me 45 minutes to be seen. I was perturbed because threading brows should NOT take that long. I know that some of the other ladies had additional services performed because I heard them as they paid at the front desk, BUT by the time I had arrived they were at the brow threading process and it just took an over abundance of time for the them to thread each lady :/ I was told that because it was my first visit that I had to pay $15 for brows and every visit after would be $12. The receptionist, currently, is loud, outspoken and not very professional. She seems to be a people-pleaser and so speaks a little too much by way of sharing information. She's not rude or anything, she just talks too much and loudly. Not cool. It was annoying. She loudly explained that some people do not leave tips and it was really rude of them to do that (yes, it's rude, but to speak so the whole vestibule can hear was unprofessional). Side note: You can not leave tips on your credit card bill. It has to be cash or personal check. UHG! Will I ever go back? If I'm in the area, yes. read more

Getting your eyebrows done by a technician that understands what you want is essential. And once you find that tech, you want to keep them.
