After 2 years and 3 referrals, I decided to contact Keetie. Her apparent disinterest in dialoguing with me about my hair and her process and stressing that she's been doing hair for 30 years should have been a red flag. I told her my hair doesn't tolerate oils because I have oily scalp and a few other details.
Tuesday, I was immediately rushed to the shampoo bowl. I asked why the shampoo person shampooed so much. She said she was trying to get the "oils out". I stressed that my scalp will always have oil. While in the styling chair, I felt my hair and it was rough, like NEVER before in my life! Keetie commented that my hair has to be" trained", "people think it's product but the conditioner should do it". I couldn't figure out what my hair needed to be trained to! I never said I intended to go bone straight and ditch my natural curls. While styling, she said she had to "strip " the hair because "your used to cowashing" and put "all of those oils in your hair". I reiterated to her that I don't use oil or cowash!
2 hours after leaving the salon, wispy hairs began sticking out. I touched my hair and it was wiry, stringy, and tangled. It appeared okay when I looked in the mirror immediately afterwards, though not as full as usual. It's NEVER hard to comb through, NEVER tangles, sheds, or any of that! Why is it tangled and wiry after a salon visit? It continually worsened. Strands of my hair began to snap! I called leaving a message that I need to speak with Keetie, hoping to get guidance on what to do. NO response.
I reflected: She never discussed my hair routine, diet, or much else with me. My hair was shampooed with somewhat hot water, Keetie commented to the shampoo person "remember what we discussed", kept making assumptions instead of asking me, kept stressing how long she's been styling hair and does hair like mine though she'd NEVER touched or examined the strands before "strip"ping it! She had to have used excessive heat for my hair type. I realized she'd done too many pass throughs going back through pieces. Probably because she saw the heat damage she caused. She also made comments early on that she will "learn" my hair. Every professional stylist I've dealt with 1st assessed that I have fine, loosely semi-curly (front) to curly hair, very soft hair, and lots of strands! She "stripped" my hair of it's natural God given oils with 3 unnecessarily aggressive washes (I shampooed Saturday 7/28!), put conditioner in and right back out (meaning she didn't replenish it), blew it out and detangled at the same time, no heat protector, and passed through too many times with obviously, excessively hot marcels! She made some crazy comment "you have really tight curls". Another indication of her ignorance of the science of hair. I actually have 2b/C (front) to 3A, looser curls BUT LOTS OF SHRINKAGE. My curly hair appeared much shorter than it was until it was straightened. She then realized I had more hair than she thought. Once again, had she touched and examined the hair, she could have stretched a strand and realized that. She also would've been able to feel and smell the sweaty odor of natural God given oils, in case she forgot what I told her over the phone!
I called again a day or 2 later and left a detailed message. I called a 3rd time Saturday 8/4, asking that she extend the courtesy of a return call and just leave a voice mail telling me exactly what she used on my hair, so that I can have it corrected. NO RESPONSE. I then remembered calling a few times before visiting, left voice mails and got no response. Another missed red flag.
Serious lack of professionalism. Apparently doesn't understand much about the science of hair which involves hands in the hair, examining the strands, then applying the science of haircare to that individual's hair, discussing their regimen, diet, and what's in the hair before doing something extreme based on your ignorant assumptions!
I've conclude she's defensive, thinking she's being told how to style hair when told about the hair God and the client knows best. She doesn't know how to establish a rapport with a new client by listening and discussing the client's haircare with the client, including the client in decisions about the hair they have to live with. Her procedures are much too harsh for fine hair!

My natural oils have been kicking in and as I boar brush, I'm looking like a wet bird. My hair has never looked so thin in my life! My scalp is also freaking out an getting bumps as the oils are braking through.

This is 100% God's honest truth, intended to prevent anyone else from experiencing it. If you have fine hair, especially naturally oily, RUN!!! As previously stated, 3 people had years of experience with her and their hair was very long and appeared healthy. Perhaps they have coarse or thick hair.
