It's a nice enough Mercado. As for groceries it's a bit smallish but well stocked. The produce section is very limited and the avacados on display were quite small compared to competitors and more expensive. I really liked the meat department offerings however the seafood offerings were quite small. read more

Prior to living here, I spent many years down in Texas. When Texas does Mexican grocery stores, they are the size of a Target. Now, living up here for over six and a half years, at most I had only seen some bodegas throughout town and one of the good ones I found early on, closed down years ago. Now, I don't go out much past the low 120s on the east side. Not for any particular reason. I just don't go. So I also didn't know that there were some larger Mexican stores out that way. I'm so glad that I went on a random Thursday bike ride with a buddy. Su Casa has all the normal Mexican necessities like spices, pan dulces, beverages and of course, a meat counter with marinated fajita meat. There is also a coffee/ fruit bar and a smaller selection fresh produce and jamaica. It was nice to wander the aisles and find a few different things that I hadn't seen before or hadn't seen since I lived in Texas. It's worth a return. I am also told that there are other large Mexican groceries out this way as well. Guess I'll have to hunt for them too. Enjoy. read more

This is truly a gem on the southeast side of town. All of the cashiers and staff members speak English really well they have a coffee/fruit bar inside that only accepts cash but in the actual grocery store you can use your EBT credit cards etc. I mean it's a Hispanic store they have everything that you could think of. we go there because they have good deals at their butcher counter and they also sell pork rinds, fresh made guacamole, salsa or you can get hot food and dine in or take togo. they have a bakery so you can get a cake made, there tons of piñata's, cell phone service barbershop and a few other knickknacks. And the prices are reasonable definitely check it out! read more

English: My mother in law ordered 2 of my wedding cakes here and it had hair all over it and no one noticed it until my wedding reception. someone ended up tossing it in the garbage , so I never got a chance to have any of that kind. She tried to see if she could get a refund and they wouldn't refund her because she did not have a sample. Very disappointed that I wasn't able to have any of this cake and that no one at my reception was able to either. Big waste of money and poor customer service. This little market (might have been a Safeway at one time) is really handy for those who live nearby and is nestled in amongst several other small businesses (barber shop, beauty shop, etc). If you need it, there's a church as well. The entrance into this parking lot is not great from either 162nd or from Stark. The parking lot needs repaving pretty badly. It looked to me like parking near the church is the easiest as they are really only busy a couple of days a week. Su Casa Supermercado's strength is in it's bakery selection of Mexican pastries (the cookies are huge), large spice section, meat section (gorgeous super-fresh cuts), produce, and small cafe. The rest they stock are the usual items you find at Safeway at about the same price. I found the staff to be friendly and helpful. Su Casa Supermercado is the perfect place to drop in and pick up those necessities for dinner on the way home from work (and even some giant cookies). Give it a try! read more

It's definitely not true like the lady below said on 10-7, that ALL the employees speak English well, though. LOL... That's a lie and SHE KNOWS IT. (Be honest, now). My Darling Husband and myself recently went Grocery Shopping at Su Casa Super Mercado. My Husband bought me a Corona Extra Beer... it was the Single Size, he is such a Sweetheart. If you are looking for Whole Wheat Tortillas, you will have to arrive Early... because those tend to sell out fast. The Homemade Salsas are Really, Really Tasty... remember to check the Date on each Container to find a Fresh One. There were Plenty of Cakes in the Cooler... they looked Deeelicious. Oh, and there were Plenty of those Big Tubs of Lard, in case you were looking for it and could NOT locate it anywhere else. I practiced my Spanish with the Cashier... I think she remembered my Husband and myself from the Last Time she assisted Us with Checking out Our items. We brought Shopping Bags with Us. We each chose a Cornbread Muffin... as Our Afternoon Snacks ... they are Deeelicious. read more

If I ever found myself falling in love with a mannequin and spending nights within the confines of a store to hang out with my beloved, I would sure hope that store were Su Casa Imports. 1. In addition to the supermarket (a heartwarming selection of things much too awesome for the sad "International" section of most supermarkets), there are both full-scale taqueria and an extensive bakery with case upon case of Mexican pastries. Because dancing with mannequins makes you hungry. 2. There's a jewelry department. Yes, a jewelry department. Dressing up in jewelry is the quintessential activity for mannequins. The last time I swung by I overheard a woman very excited about the blinking light-up rings. Just so you know they have them. 3. Since it's an import store, a virtual cornucopia of props awaits you and your mannequin love when you run out of things to do in the wee hours. Think of all the magical photo shoots involving pinatas and Mexican blankets and tamale pots. 4. They have everything you miss most from Mexico, like cacahuates japoneses and fresky bon and bimbunuelos and cajeta, and sometimes when you sit in your car and rip open a package to see if it's as good in rainy ol' Portland as it was on the Sea of Cortes, you know you're going to be disappointed but just can't let go. And then you realize that the mannequin is like that sweaty postre de pina you're shoving in your mouth--sure if you close your eyes and think really hard it's just like standing in some plaza with a stray dog peeing on your feet. But you have to live in the real world some time. And you want to wave goodbye to the mannequin, but he/she's just kind of standing there in the window wearing this sombrero and no pants. read more

I actually come here to buy perfume oil. There is a little stall in back where they sell all sorts of goodies, including a vast array of scented oils. I tend to buy my groceries here as well since they have an awesome selection, great deli, etc. Fresh ceviche de pescado that is always on point. I usually inhale half the container before it even makes it home. Produce section is great too, and they tend to have more reasonable prices than other places on certain things. Lots of take out food and a massive salsa/condiment bar to doctor up your goodies as elaborately as you like. Big old Mexican grocery store! It's the size of a Safeway. In the back is a bakery, plus a meat and cheese counter; there's a whole aisle of tortillas, bulk chiles, novena candles, spicy powders and candies, pinatas, and a little section of Mexican produce that is sometimes hard to find in other stores (like epazote, cactus pear, cactus paddles, stuff like that). Great for homesick Mexicans or for a dried-bean-and-queso-fresco run. read more

Sure Casa, it's a good neighborhood store if you forgot milk or perhaps bread if you are not Hispanic. Yes, it appears to have Authentic Hispanic Flare to it. However, it's not a store that I would plan a major shopping excursion for. I went to get some coffee and all they had was instant. To add to the other top reviews this is a great place to find inexpensive bulk dried chiles (at least a dozen varieties today), mexican spices, lard, masa, etc. The recipes for their meat rub, ceviches, salsas, etc. at the back counter are very good. Always testing out something new. I always seem to be able to find ripe avocados here also, great for day-of shopping. read more

They don't accept manufacturer's coupons and they don't have any sign posting about it. This isn't the first time I've left the store angry at their service and the way prices are marked on the shelves and in the butcher case. Several times I have found out at the register that my items cost more than what the price on the shelf says. I won't shop there ever again. This was the straw that broke the camel's back.
