Kachka dumplings are a sure sign of quality
    John K.

My wife has done most of our grocery shopping during the pandemic, so she discovered Bread and Roses long before I did. It appears to be a perfect addition to a neighborhood that is attracting a lot of independent businesses. At first glance, this seems to be a small store, but an L shaped corner at the back extends the space quite a bit. You will not find five different brands of any particular product, but the ones that they have are all high quality. On my first visit, I was happy to see a good selection of Equal Exchange coffees and teas. We came away with a variety of tea and a nice bottle of moderately priced wine. Because we were headed elsewhere before going home, we didn't purchase anything requiring refrigeration, but spotting frozen dumplings from Kachka was all I needed to recognize their commitment to excellent products. Looking forward to my next visit.

    Gorgeous selection of local produce
    Maria A.

Such a well-stocked neighborhood market. Looks small but they pack in everything you need. Amazing selection of produce, wine, tea, beans, grains, pasta, household supplies, & toiletries. Truly amazing how much variety they have. The prices are really reasonable too, they're not trying to up-charge you just bc they can. Loooove this store & will keep coming here regularly.

I get the best cold brew coffee here. Also they have great vegan alternative products.

I've traveled and tried, but there's absolutely none like it - the smoked roughly chopped almonds and toffee, large chips of chocolate and crystalline flake salt. GOOD NEWS for people who love food news: SHIPPING AVAILABLE! While in town, I'm happy to sample something new: the MORNING BUN swirled & kneaded with chocolate (texture of an Apple Fritter, minus the fruit), glazed top (egg wash?) & crystalline sugared bottom. It's bready and sweet and pulls apart in delicious sections that pair perfectly with my COAVA COFFEE Cortado (brown sugar in the bottom) served in NEW ROOTS compostable cups (these give back with use). An easy seat on the patio is heavenly in sweet PNW summer weather. Meanwhile it is actually a tightly edited Farmer's Market (sandwiches by day, oysters by night) including a variety of artisanal picks - many fine sardines & GENTILE pasta, COQUINE Puddin' Pops, REVEL meats, PAHDI Pink Garlic, STEELPORT knives, BAREBONES pruners, & cookbooks! Summertime rolls...Jane's Addiction harmony in my head…read more On a holiday in the sun like Weezer in the lovely Pacific NW in the Summertime decided to do a yatra aka pilgrimage to People's Co-op. I lived walking distance from People's Co-op circa 2004 where I lived right across from the now defunct all vegan coffeeshop aka Red and Black. In 2004-2005 I was a working member cleaning the bulk bins as my seva aka service. This is where I first started teaching yoga at the community room upstairs at People's Co-op. Dusty started the program that sadly is no longer currently active. They had some great classes there and have fond memories of a Iyenger influenced yoga teacher that taught classes I liked. This was when I was teaching classical hatha yoga and had not yet shifted my yoga teaching to the Ashtanga Vinyasa tradition. Fast forward to the moment of Jun 20223. It's the return and went to People's Co-op. It still is an amazing place. They have a farmer's market here every Wed. Their bulk selection is amazing (see my photos) and so is there produce. Friendly and helpful staff. Afterwards go to Belmont for heaps of plant based, vegetable forward, tasty, amazing vegan restaurants and food trucks that are amazing. Vegan bars, vegan food trucks, innovative vegan restaurants like Fermenter, and more that will satisfy all folks who follow whatever diet from vegan to paleo to gluten-free to omnivore.
