Sub City's around here are independently owned and different from eachother. Different sandwiches, deli meats, breads and toppings. It kind of doesn't make any sense. I was hesitant to try it because I've had bad experiences at Sub City in Waterloo. But, fortunately this location is totally different and really good! My sandwich was very tasty and they had an ample selection of toppings and deli meats. I had a deli chicken with cheese and all the fixings. It was very filling and fresh, with the meats sliced upon order. Most everyone was polite too, except for the lady at the register who looked like she just rolled out of bed and was unhappy to be there. The location is fine, not a great parking situation if you get there at a busy time. Refills are 50 cents, but a medium drink is only $1.25 and a small .75 cents. I prefer this sub shop over all the others around. Hope all the employees are more pleasant next time, otherwise it would have been a five star rating. Normally I don't complain and give the benefit of the doubt to those in food service, unfortunately my experience with sub city 2 in downtown To Waterloo has caused me to reevaluate my position. At 1:30 I entered to order and overheard the employees talk about how they couldn't wait to leave and their displeasure when other customers came in. The shop closes at 2 so they should have known this was possible. So I was already not thrilled and the food was OK. The bread was dry and not especially good certainly no better than subway and a much higher price Next time in town and looking for a good sandwich I will definitely look elsewhere. read more

Downtown E 4th Street Sub City has the absolute best subs in the Cedar Valley, subs at this location are pretty good as well.

My standard go-to when I crave comfort food. Always have the same ham and coleslaw sub with Russian dressing and some sort of cheese soup which looks like its from Martin Brothers. Some criticism would be the ambiance, which is cold, needs updating and doesn't look real clean. Always tangles of junk visible under the counters with beverage lines and junk. Always some weird, not very flavorful brownies for purchase - could definitely be better. read more

Identical in almost every aspect to the other sub city in cedar falls. Great alternative to subway/jimmy johns. Fresh meat and cheese sliced in front of you. Don't be discouraged with a long line, they keep it moving! Only problem is I wish they could toast sandwiches. Other wise quick and delicious! read more

I can't believe it, we have always had great service and tonight my husband stopped at 6:40 PM and they were closed. He rattled the door thinking it was stuck as he saw the employees inside. He was told they were closed, he pointed to his watch, as 7 is their posted closing time and they once again said they were closed and to F off. I guess we will have to make the trip across town. A great and yummy (and local!) alternative to the chain sub restaurants. Although parking is on the street here, I've still usually had good luck getting a parking spot right in front of the door. Service is almost always pretty quick, and the sandwiches are great. They have a ton of options, although I always get the same thing! Their bread is sooo good. read more

I think Sub City may be the original sub shop in town. The subs are big, have generous toppings and are very good. Don't even think of a comparison between Subway and Sub City. There simply isn't one. read more

The last two times I have attempted to eat here have been total failures. The first of these two occasions they did not have any white bread, really wondering how they can run out of a major staple for their business.
