Oh man this place is AWESOME!!! It is so fun. You see them turn your ice cream from milk and flavors to delicious frozen ice cream. It's great for kids too. And they have a great array of menu items to choose from. I got the chocolate conduction with cheese cake, my husband got the pumpkin one that is a seasonal special, and my two kids got the Mint one and the cotton candy one. Everybody loved their flavors. The service was great too, they were very nice and fast at making the ice cream. The kids loved to watch. The ambiance is awesome because their branding is "science fun" and they stick to that through and through! They have a television in the corner showing some cool science experiments with nitrogen and they have fun science/ice cream logos on the wall. Will definitely be back! It's a treat for multiple senses. Today, my family and I embarked on an Ísbíltúr, a road trip designed to find ice cream, and we found ourselves here at Sub Zero. We watched in awe and wonder as the young lady behind the counter did her thing, and then handed over a beautiful masterpiece of strawberry ice cream and whipped cream in a tasty waffle cone. I've tried and liked rolled ice cream, and this looked like a similar concept. It's really fun to watch, and you can feel the cold air from the nitrogen while your ice cream is being made, so it's a really cool sensory experience for all. There are tons of options- 2 dairy-free bases that can be made into lots of flavors, sugar-free options, Acai bowls, and more! Endless customization is possible. The staff seemed knowledgeable about all the options. And I loved that the cooling process happened in individual metal bowls, so cross-contamination wasn't a problem. So why the 3 stars? The taste! I got the chocolate combo with almond milk base, and it looked amazing. But it tasted gummy/sticky with chalky chunks of chocolate- not something I'd want to get again. Went there on a whim for a work activity in the middle of the day. There were 10 of us. The restaurant was not very busy so we were able to get in and place orders quickly. The creation of each of the ice cream orders was very individualized. My favorite part was that they had sugar-free ice cream there seven or eight different flavors to choose from and it ended up tasting pretty good. I love the fact that that was an option and I didn't have to skip ice cream due to my low carb diet. The young man making the ice cream worked quickly and did a great job keeping us occupied with conversation. The nitrogen smoke is a little bit gimmicky, but I will admit it was kind of cool to see. I always prefer Sub Zero over their competition when it comes to frozen ice cream and the novelty is great for the kids, but this place is run by kids, who seemed more interested in socializing than taking care of customers or maintaining the place. There were 4 teens behind the counter, 2 of which were texting on cellphones, one actually helping customers and the other hugging and talking to her friends that came in to chat. The place needs a serious scrub down. The tables were covered in spills and were really sticky, the floors were covered in toppings and spills (see photos). Service: There's a check in coupon here for a free ice cream, but they will give you a speech before redeeming it. The staff told me that this location specifically doesn't accept Groupon or any other discounts because "they don't get paid." Meaning other locations like Draper sold Groupon discounted offers and should only be used at certain locations. But if I check in at this location and this check in coupon pops up, it should be honored right? They did accept it, but if that's really a problem and has happened more than once, I suggest they have a talk with their upper management to avoid conflict in the future. Ice cream: I got the pistachio with almonds and it's delicious! The whole nitogren process with creating the ice cream is pretty cool. Nitrogen balls: These are like cereal with the sweetness and the crunch factor to it. It's not what I expected but it's cool blow "smoke" when you're chewing on it. I prefer the ice cream, but the nitrogen balls are what attracted me into coming here in the first place. read more

Came here for the first time on a Saturday night in December and it was empty. I mean, this is Utah and everyone loved ice cream all year round, so I wasn't sure why this place had no customers on the weekend. Came with a big group of family and it was a different experience to watch how they made ice cream here - provided a bit of entertainment while we waited for our frozen treats. The price was a bit pricey - maybe that's why they don't get a lot of traffic? The flavors were OK and they didn't have much of a presentation with the ice cream they handed us. It wasn't "rolled up" nicely. The decor inside wasn't super inviting in my opinion, was lacking something that made people want to lounge a bit longer. Customer service was subpar and they can def do a bit better to make the customer feel more welcome. read more

Wow, a fun ice cream place came to my neighborhood, we went here at a Saturday night around 9:30PM, still a lot people hanging out here. They will let you choose your cream, flavor and adding, then they put all together in a bowl and use liquid nitrogen to cool it and make it frozen. The process will take 30 seconds, then you can see your cream became ice cream, really funny I tried create your own bowl, they can let you choose as much as flavors you want, they have about 20s different flavors in their menu, which is really cool. Add-in will be charge for $0.5 each, which is also not bad. I did some fruit flavor today, peach, watermelon, blackberry and gummy bears as addin. It turns out really yummy, I like it so much We also tried banana cream on waffle bowl, this one is on their sentation menu, which is also very nice I highly recommend this place! read more

This location is the worst, we love Sub Zero ice scream and I hate leaving a bad review during Covid times because I know businesses are struggling. We have been a few times in the last few months and it's consistently the same so I decided to leave a review. The employees have the worst attitudes, never helpful, seem kind of lazy and just moody. I would be mad if that what was the face of my business. They are also incredibly slow, one stand there and rolls their eyes while making the ice cream and the other just stands there instead of making the other 2 orders. It's like the least welcoming of an environment, I would be embarrassed if they were my employees. Haven't been to sub zero since they were in American Fork and closed shop. This place has a unique way of making their ice cream with nitrogen which makes the ice cream a lot colder. I personally like their ice cream better than Rockwell, Brookers or the traditional ice cream shops. I currently have the grub pass which is an app that allows you to get 5.00 off your total purchase price. It's only during their down times which is listed on their app. So today I basically got a buy one get one when I went in today. I've always enjoyed the ice cream here. I tried those dragon breath ball things, and although they were cool to mess around with the first couple minutes, but they taste pretty terrible, lol. After a few minutes, they lose their coolness and you don't get much of anything when you breathe out. The taste is almost like Captain Crunch, minus the flavor. I love the fact that they have lots of vegan options here. I tried the cashew based ice cream with some add-ons. All the ice cream that I've tried is very smooth and tasty. Came in on Saturday while on vacation with family. Super long line, but for good reason. Chocolate conduction sensation was immaculate thanks to the worker Melissa for recommending it. We actually were really disappointed with our first visit here. It was really busy and hardly any seating. Really small cramped building. We got each a icecream and tried those dragon ball things. We were a little overwhelmed so we didn't customize our icecream just got two of the options they had. I got the banana one which was decent my husband got the keylime which neither of us were a huge fan of. When we got the dragon balls they weren't even frozen so we had to go back up to the counter and ask for them. I thought it seem weird when they handed them to us and the cool air wasn't coming off of them. They tasted like giant trix and neither nor or my husband liked them. I arranged for Sub Zero to cater a corporate event on a weekday afternoon. I emailed with the manager several times confirming the date, time and place. However, when the day of the event came Sub Zero was a no-show. The time came and went. And when I called the store to figure out what the problem was the manager said "I don't have anyone to cover the store, so I can't come." He did not call me or try contact me in any way. Just didn't show up. The manager then said "What can we do to remedy this problem?" I had 30 people standing around waiting, so I didn't see that he was willing to do something that would solve my problem. I ended up just running to the grocery store and buying ice cream. Their card reader wasn't working so they had all these people waiting with their ice cream sitting in the metal bowls while they tried to figure it out. They get it fixed after a minute and get a few people checked out. It then breaks again right when it was the couple in front of us' turn. So she goes to sit down and wait again to pay. This girl pops out of nowhere and tries to check us out. I said it's not working and she goes yes it is and so did the boy next to her. Then realized it wasn't when she was trying to check us out... The kids working there also have terrible attitudes, one of the girls with bangs was chewing gum in her mouth which you can't do when preparing food. They also made our order wrong. We got a sensation that wasn't in a waffle cone. My cake batter that was suppose to be just cake batter had remanences of other peoples ice cream. also there is a young boy that has his hair all over his face you can't even see his eyes, he also had no idea what was going on the whole time. read more

I got the chocolate malt ice cream and that was good so that's the reason I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1. They said they didn't have enough base for a shake but then made 2 orders after mine. ‍ Forgot to put my husbands in a waffle bowl after we listened to them ask the people in front of us twice if they wanted one. The waffle bowl is supposed to just be included according to their menu. And the main reason for the bad experience was the cookies. I ended up getting the cookie sandwich. The menu says "fresh baked daily". I'm okay with a crunchy cookie. But these cookies were so stale I could barely bite through them and had an awful after taste. It was nearly $14 for these two ice cream items and the staff needs to be more prepared. And the cookies should be made fresh daily. There is no way that was true. If it is, then they need a better daily storage solution to keep them less stale. Maybe they were freezer burnt? read more

This sub zero by traverse mountain was awful. Went on a Saturday night and the ice cream we received was nothing like what we had gotten at other locations. They were out of multiple ingredients we asked for and the ice cream was not creamy or sweet at all. Overall, it was more like terribly frost bitten bland chunks. Resembled a snow cone without enough flavor more than ice cream. When we politely told the teenagers working tonight how it was, they only offered to let us try something else. A Zero review if possible. Was at Primary Childrens for 3 days with my daughter and the only thing she wanted when we were released was SubZero because they are the only ice cream that is dairy free. Well 3 hours waiting to leave hospital we were finally on the road. Got to this location at 8:55. All of the chairs were already on top of the tables. Probably about 15 customers sitting or standing since all chairs were up. I walked in because I thought there was a private party... Not... So since the door was open I told my daughter that it was OK to get out of the car.. Which was difficult for her. I looked at the counter and the 2 girls were starring at me and one said we are closed. Really? It was not 9pm yet and the door was open with lots of customers inside. Long story short I have a disappointed daughter from a franchise that needs to let the customers know they come first and not a clock. read more
