She kept our beverages filled and was quick to take our order. There were sports playing on all of the TVs, and music in the background. We were able to comfortably carry on a conversation. It's a three from me for now, based on my first visit. The main reasons are I ordered a basket of fries and they were less crispy then I like, so I don't know if this was how they make them or a mistake. I also got an Italian sub with the pepper relish. So I felt the pepper relish was a bit to spicy and all i could taste was the pepper relish, again I don't know if it was built wrong or this is submarine house's style. Next time, I will ask for the pepper relish on the side and check the fries before leaving. I did a take out, hit and ready in less then 10min. Staff was very attentive and friendly. read more

Submarine House is Hilliard's hidden gem and the best place in Columbus to watch sports. They have the coldest beer in town and the weekend specials make it the ideal spot to watch football. The owner and staff are friendly and go out of their way to make you feel like you are welcome there. The restaurant is clean, well-lit, and is family friendly. I've never had a bad item on their menu -- I love their pizzas and my buddies are addicted to their Italian subs and chicken cheesesteaks. 100 percent would recommend to anyone looking to have a good time. read more

It's been a few months since I've been here because I'm rarely on this side of town, but the Submarine House is a must when I am. The menu offers appetizers, pizza, grilled subs, cheese steaks, oven roasted subs, & more. The meatball sub and house made chips are usually.my choice. The pepper relish is a standout condiment with the chips. The atmosphere is great. Good for large groups, prices are fair, and staff is on top of things. With sub shops being a dime a dozen, this place is one of the best in the area. read more

I've been going to Submarine House almost weekly since 2015! We live right around the corner and honestly the drink specials are what drew me in. My husband and I have tried most everything on the menu and nothing disappoints. Even though this is a sub place, my favorite is the thin crust pizza and teezers. Ross is a great owner and really cares about the place! We see him in there all the time. The waiters/waitresses really do their best to give you a great experience. I'm not very happy with this place. I ordered pick up and placed the order on the phone. I was given a 14 minute ETA and it was made on time but incorrectly. I asked for the works on my turkey sandwich and only got lettuce and tomatoes. It was pretty sad... the meat was not deli quality and was more of... Kroger? I also ordered a chicken cheesesteak which was good but also missing my toppings. The fries are basic. I thought this was a gourmet place like DiBellas but it's just an expensive subway that really doesn't care enough to pay attention to details. We really like the food at Submarine House. It's a cut above your average neighborhood bar and grill. The subs are large and overstuffed, and if you've ordered cheese there's plenty of the melty gooey stuff. They also have tasty pizza. They have lots of different delicious shareable appetizers, some of which you can order in a smaller size as a side. There are also very good salads, dinner-sized and smaller. Lots of beer choices and specials and other drink specialties are available. They have trivia games some evenings/nights if you're into that. Service is quick and friendly. We've always been made to feel welcome. There is one big negative.There is a large patio just outside the front door where a lot of smokers sit/stand. Every time the door opens a waft of tobacco smoke floats into the dining area. I also suspect that the restaurant sometimes allows 'regulars' to smoke inside because the tobacco smell can get really heavy, even when the door hasn't opened in a while. For people like me who are very sensitive to tobacco smoke, this limits how often we go to Submarine House, which is a shame given how good everything else is. read more

Stopped in for lunch on 7/2/24. The restaurant had few patrons. The server was a little slow in getting to my table. I ordered a 4" cheesesteak, side salad, and a Coke. The salad was a nice mix of greens and other accoutrements, the size was ample for $3.49. The Coke was also $3.49, which I thought was high, especially since I didn't get a refill. I'd love to see restaurants return to a lower priced drinks and charge for refills. Undoubtedly soft drinks are a huge profit item. My cheesesteak arrived hot. The bun was a nice combination of exterior crispness and soft interior; quite well cooked. The shaved steak had a rich beefy taste with a robust peppery flavor. The onions and mushrooms were fresh and flavorful. Two types of cheese rounded out the sandwich--would loved to have had a cheese whiz option. Eating utensil was a single plastic fork; a knife would've been helpful. No napkins, just a roll of paper towels on the table, which required some wrestling to get a few sheets off. Overall, my experience was okay, but pricey. A 4" sub, salad, Coke, tax and tip set me back just under $20 for lunch. Nothing really here to induce a return visit. read more

Meat - hot cheesy beefy - very good. Toppings - the usual with WHAT???!!! HOMEMADE HOT PEPPER RELISH - excellent!! Yes any place that makes their own homemade hot pepper relish gets a bonus 1/2 star!! Spicy, but not too spicy - addictive!! Sides - we had the homemade potato chip basket that comes with thick cut potato "chips" but are more like fried potato slices - thin, but thicker than a chip. Comes with cheese and homemade pepper relish for dipping! Damn good. Atmosphere - kinda sterile, but a nice new bar and "sportsbar" feel with lots of TV's. Family friendly, but I would go here to watch sports and drink. Overall - Great cheese steaks, good bar food and a cleaner, newer more family friendly place than the nearby Hilliard dives!!! A nice addition to Hilliard. I really liked the cheesesteak I ordered from here. My wife was not impressed with her italian sub. Her sub seemed to go very light very light on the meat. I would recommend sticking to the cheesesteaks. The bar area was nice and it looked like a good place to get a beer. I wouldn't plan on coming here for a meal but see it as a decent beer and food place. I may come back as long as I get a monthly BOGO coupon but other than that I may not stop in to quickly. read more

The atmosphere was excellent as soon as we walked in. It was happy hour and several tables were already occupied. They had a bunch of TV's showing and the staff was very welcoming. We had the cheesesteaks subs and they were outstanding. The ingredients were fresh and the bread made it even better. Really good cheese steak subs. Toasted subs are also good. Flavor was amazing for the pistol. Yes the regular subs the amount of meat seems small but at the same time so is the cost. To preface I gave a 4 because I can't give a 3.5. Arrived and service started good. Placed an appetizer and got a beer. Everything was okay. Ordered food. Server brought out 3/4 plates ordered. Stayed "I forgot to put your order in." We weren't rude about it. I get mistakes happen but no compensation was offered for one member in my party having to wait an additional 10 minutes for their food. An extra sauce cost $1. I know inflation is a thing but $1 for a tiny sauce cup. I would potentially come back because food was decent but just watch your bill. read more

Drink specials are great. Food is run of the mill and nothing special. We went with friends (their recommendation) and immediately liked the decor and overall feel. Looking at the wall, I was impressed by their draft list and prices. The video board was really cool. The "all day every day" specials are solid and I would go back for them. Unfortunately, that was the last of the highlights for this outing. Our service was okay. That's being generous because they forgot one of our dishes (party of 5 adults and 2 kids). Even after putting a "rush" on it, she didn't get it until the table was almost down eating. I had to wait for a refill of soda in a mostly empty restaurant. At times, the bartender and extra servers were content just chatting in the corner. The food was just okay. The fries are solid and the onion rings are excellent. They brag about how their wings aren't tossed in the sauces as if that's a good thing. The bone-in donhave a good flavor on the breading and are crispy but soft on the inside. Solid there. The boneless look and taste like something that come out of a bag. I don't want to dip my wings in a sauce. At least give me the option of having them tossed; especially at over $8 for a small basket. Philly cheese steaks were mostly bread and underwhelming. The philly salad was a mess. I wouldn't go back for the food, but if I'm in the area and in the mood for a good draft list at a good price, I'd give this place another try. read more

We go here often and haven't usually had an issue but the service tonight was terrible. When we got there it wasn't very busy we got waited on right away and got our food fairly fast but it was downhill after that. The waitress totally ignored us after the food came. When she dropped our food off my son asked for a drink refill and I asked for a fork she never came back but eventually a different waitress brought us drinks but no fork . Our original waitress was too busy hugging other customers and socializing with them and refilling their drinks to come and check on us. We probably waited close to a half hour to get our check we asked the other waitress if she could get it for us that's when our waitress finally came over then when she finally brought our change and a takeout box she acted like she had an attitude . The food was good but poor service is unacceptable. It will probably be awhile before we go back. read more

Never, ever go here for a sub. Despite the fact that subs are its namesake, the subs are the worst thing about this place. They're so bad, it's pitiful. These people are just not even trying. You might as well wipe your ass with your money rather than drop it on a bread sandwhich at this place because at least then it will have served a purpose. When you order a "sub" here, you get a big piece of mediocre ordinary white sub roll, one leaf of lettuce, tomoato sliced so thin you could fry it and make a tomato chip, and one layer of meat sliced so thin you can literally hold it up to the light and see through it. Was there even cheese on it? I'm not sure. And the condiment was so skimpy that I asked for a side of it because I thought they forgot it, then opened the bread and saw there was a streak about the size of a dirty sanchez on the bread. Just enough to technically be there but not enough for you to know it's there. In short, they give you enough filling and condiment for maybe a half of a sandwich on a slice of regular Wonder bread but then stretch it out to the size of a full sub but still charge you full price. These people are so half assing it, they're not even quarter assing it. They're putting maybe one butt pimple into it. They're trying to get away with being as cheap as possible and stil milking as much money out of you as they possibly can. It's almost insulting. For the first time ever, I can say that I feel like I was conned at this place, cheated out of my money by greedy people who don't know how to run a restaurant and don't care. As for the rest of this place, well the ambiance is nice. They did a good job decorating it. The wait staff is great. I didn't go to the bar so I can't comment on that, however I did order a Long Island Ice Tea and well you can imagine how much alcohol these tightwads gave me in the drink. Another down point about this place isn't really their fault but still a deterrent. In case you're unaware, men go to sports bars like this to scream like assholes and act like ignorant ADHD children who were fed bottles of Mt. Dew. They scream at the top of their lungs over every little thing that happens in a game they barely care about and they try to outdo each other to see who can be louder and stupider. Even when they're just talking, they're shouting. So you can forget about having a conversation while eating your bread sandwhich and any relaxing effect the drop of alcohol in your drink might have had is negated by the brain dead monkeys that go in there. downgrading my review from 3 stars to 2 based on a few things. 1) service, it's not great. 2) chicken wings, they are the quality of Tyson frozen wings. 3) no Sunday liquor license. Previous review: Let's start with the fact that this place is brand new (open 3 weeks) and this was our first visit. I will update the review with subsequent visits, and there will be future visits. Service was great, the drinks were strong, the beer selection is great. Food was good - especially good considering the local options (Nasty's, etc). Pizza was very good, although the crust was not house made. LOVED the tater tots stuffed with cheese and chives. my husband enjoyed the sub he ordered and blue cheese chips. We will definitely return here and possibly upgrade our rating. read more

This is a great spot to gather with friends or watch a game. As their name says, there are submarines, and there also are many other options. I really like that they have specials and activities on different nights. We went on a Wednesday and it was trivia night. They have a really good draft list that's posted on the wall and a lot of their cans and domestics were on special. I ordered a sub that was on special similar to a cheesesteak, it was nothing to write home about, but I think it's standard for sports bar food. I've driven by a number of times and thought this place looks new and modern, I bet they have great subs. Tonight we tried the 8" cheesesteak (regular, not double portion) and the 8" pizza sub. I agree, the sub was on par w steak escape. Please go to cap city and order their philly w dbl.meat n cheese and compare it to.yours. that should be your standard. I have grown up frequenting Submarine House in Dayton. Now that I have been several times to the Hilliard location, I must say I am impressed by the quality and consistency of their brand. The staff is friendly and will go out of their way to help you. This is a great addition to Hilliard. I drive 20 min to get there and it is worth it. You will be impressed ....
