Awesome food. My wife and I stopped in and tried the Philly chicken and the owner gave us "THE DEAN" to try out which was amazing! Nice outdoor seating gives me miami vibes. The owner is a war vet and super friendly along with the rest of their staff! Awesome spot. Prices are beyond fair! Love a place that you can get a meal for $10 in this economy.

This is a tiny little place that we have passed many times but have always wanted to try. Finally swung by yesterday to grab a sandwich for lunch. They no longer have walk-ins to order, it's only walk up. There is parking, but be careful. A lot of working people in large vehicles come here for lunch so there can be very large vehicles in the lot. (They do not have drive-thru. For the longest time, I thought they did, but no, that was just cars wrapped around and parked alongside the building. Hah!) They do have some tables and chairs along side the building to eat at, but it looks like most people get the food to go. I had been told by many that they had an excellent Cuban sandwich, so I ordered the 7". The young lady asked what I wanted on it and listed all they had, including lettuce, tomato, etc. (I had never had that on a Cuban before, but if that is how they make it, I'll try it.) I told her I'll take it, and pressed too, of course. Mum ordered a tuna wrap, with Swiss cheese in a tomato wrap. She was excited about how they had quite a variety of breads, etc., to make up a sandwich. (They actually had a large menu when you took time to really check it out.) She also ordered a small black bean & rice. We saw they had milkshakes and couldn't resist. Both of us ordered a chocolate milkshake with whipped cream and a cherry. I'm sorry, but neither of those survived for a picture. LOL It all was prepared pretty fast and we got it all home. Mum really enjoyed the tuna wrap. She said it was exactly what she wanted and loved every bite. She also loved the black beans and rice although she had to salt it a bit, but that might be her. I really enjoyed the Cuban sandwich. It wasn't what I expected; it was different than other Cubans I've had, but it was delicious. It was very fresh and had a great taste. The milkshake was very good as well. I saw other things on their menu that interested me, so I know we will be back. I like having another sub shop nearby.

I travel for work to different offices around Florida. Today, I was sent to an office in Lakeland and needed a good recommendation for lunch. I asked several coworkers, taking a poll on what to eat. No lie, EVERYONE told me to try out this sub shop, so I decided to give it a whirl. I scanned the menu prior to driving over to the shop itself and was still torn on what to get. Everything on the menu had my taste buds watering. I pulled up to the shop, quickly parked, and walked into the establishment. Unbeknownst to me, I was supposed to order at the window, but the employees were THE KINDEST people ever redirecting me on how to place my order. I asked the girl who assisted me what she recommended and she suggested Cuban, Italian, and Cheesesteak. DONE! Cheesesteak it is. I quickly ordered a 6'' cheesesteak with onions and peppers and sat down to wait. Within 5 minutes, they came outside and presented me my sub. I could literally smell the sandwich in the car on the way back to the office. I opened the wrapping and was even more saturated with a BEAUTIFUL aroma. My first bite was to die for. The sub was juicy, warm, and very flavorful. It didn't stand a chance at lasting more than 5 minutes. If you are in Lakeland, definitely check out this place and support local. I will 100% be coming back! Thanks for a great experience and looking forward to more.

This place has been in business for 44 years so I expected it to be good, but WOW it was amazing. I live on the other side of town and have gone twice in one week. The portions are large and definitely filling. The staff gets you through the line quickly even when they are slammed. The prices are very reasonable for the portion sizes you get. I had the Reuben and it was sooo good. I love that it was dripping with juice. I have tried the Philly as well and loved it too! I still have 50+ items to try. Kids meals are large enough even for older kids. My two year old can't finish even half.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to eat lunch at this great spot!

Subs 'n Such is a delightful roadside sandwich shop, run by extremely friendly staff. The food comes out FAST too! I really enjoyed "Dean's Special": a 6" ham and cheese with fresh garlic, lettuce, tomato (ask for extra!), Mayo and hot peppers. Paired it with their homemade creamy cole slaw and the largest sweet tea I've seen in years! We had 3 different ladies help us, between taking our order, payment and food delivery. I love that kind of customer service!!! If we're ever in Lakeland, we'll be back! (And I wouldn't be opposed to them opening a shop in Las Vegas!) Oh, and they have outdoor dining only, so keep that in mind on a hot day...

This place was a pleasant surprise. We were looking for a sandwich shop to grab a quick lunch while moving our son into Florida Southern College. Searched restaurants in the area on my iPhone maps app and saw yelp reviews had it at more than 4.0. It was less than a mile from the college. We actually drove by and missed the driveway. I could tell the passengers in the car were skeptical as the place looked small and we wondered if it had seating inside - which it did, but limited. We found out later they do a brisk takeout and delivery business. DO NOT judge a book by it's cover! Subs n Such has been in business since 1977 and there is a quality reason why. Once inside we were greeted warmly by staff who explained the offerings and cheerfully gave personal FSC history and their close ties to the college. Several students work here, including delivering subs. It is a sandwich shop offering traditional deli sandwiches, hot dogs, and burgers. The subs are of varying sizes. In our party some ordered 6" and 8" subs and we all left happy and satisfied for only $32 plus tip. We had Philly Cheese Steaks, Meatball subs, and a Carlotta. All were delicious. The place really has a mom 'n' pop, local diner feel and the staff AND other customers were really friendly and happy to be there. Give it a try - it blows the chains away! I can't wait for my next visit and a chance to show this hidden gem to more family and friends.

Wow, those was an amazing find. We were in the area and looking for a quick meal. Having a 4 1/2 rating we decided to stop by subs and such. The staff is extremely friendly. We were informed of the Cuban sandwich special which came with a free drink so we picked up a few. They were DELICIOUS and being 1st time patrons we were even given free yummy brownies. Loved this spot!

I never really write reviews and I work in the food industry so I really know how it is. But I came in customer service off the bat HORRIBLE...I had my baby in hand, barely walked through the front door and a worker ran out in front of the order counter stood in front of me and was said to "stand outside to have my order taken". That was just so unnecessary, it was 50 degrees out. Why have the inside opened if people can't stand in it? I finally order outside. Server taking my order was the one who kicked me out and seemed as if I inconvenienced her life by ordering.. I go to eat it and I find not one but TWO hairs.(I have long brown hair, the hairs I found were short black kinda curly) I will provide a picture. My sub was very dry and I added Mayo and vinegar, and they took it upon themselves to add Italian Suboil and herbs that I didn't request. Also added lettuce to my sub, which had literally four small slices of lettuce. My other sub I ordered was an Italian sub, ONLY had ham and cheese on it. Also order a side of coleslaw.. it had lettuce in it and because of that, soggy as hell and it tasted like nothing. I will never go back. I don't understand how they've been opened for so long w shitty service and food. It's just comical how bad that experience was and that I will NEVER go back. Only regret is not going back for a refund, 22 dollars down the drain.

Driving thru town& found this historic sandwich shop, just go. Friendly service was a plus, but the good is so fresh and tasty. Cuban bread is an option too. Fresh fresh fresh

I've been a loyal customer of Frankie's Deli since they opened. I typically order the chicken salad…read moreor a sandwich, and I also place large catering orders for my customers because they genuinely enjoy the food. Unfortunately, after my most recent experience, I won't be returning. I stopped in around 3:00 p.m. and was happy to see it wasn't busy. I went to the deli counter, waited for someone to serve me, ordered my chicken salad, grabbed a soda and chips, and headed to the open register. As I walked up, the cashier called another customer over ahead of me. I waited while he spent several minutes deciding whether to pay cash or by card because of the 4% card fee. I continued standing there with my three items, to the point that I actually set them down and debated walking out. Then, instead of helping me, the cashier motioned for an entire family to come to the registereven though I had been standing there waiting before they arrived. After that, she waved over another customer, and I had to wait while a mother and her two teenagers decided which desserts they wanted. Again, I stood there patiently. When it was finally my turn, there was no greeting, no "thank you for waiting," nothing. The first thing I was asked was, "Do you have a pickup order?" I said no. She then motioned for my chicken salad container, saying she needed it. I placed it on the scale and set my other items on the counter. The cashier then asked, "Are you okay?" I simply shook my head because, honestly, I wasn't. Instead of recognizing why I was frustrated, she continued talking, making comments, and escalating the interaction rather than simply ringing me up. At that point, I asked, "Do you want to argue? Do you want me to go back and forth with you?" I then asked who the manager was. She pointed to a woman beside her, who identified herself as the owner. I asked if she could ring me up instead. Even then, the cashier continued making comments. It was only after she continued engaging me that my voice became louder in response. Rather than addressing the repeated comments from her employee or asking what had happened, the owner immediately said, "Do not raise your voice at my employee." That response was disappointing. There was no concern for the customer experience, no apology for repeatedly being skipped in line, and no attempt to resolve the situation. There was also no acknowledgment that the interaction had been escalated by the cashier's continued remarks before I ever raised my voice. The irony is that I have spent a significant amount of money catering from Frankie's Deli over the years because my customers love the food. Good food will bring people in once. Great customer service keeps them coming back. Sadly, this experience ended that relationship for me. There are plenty of places with great food, but respect and customer service matter just as much. One final thought: this is Florida not NY. Hospitality goes a long way. The aggressive, dismissive attitude I experienced isn't what I expect when supporting a local business. I won't be back.
