I grew up eating here and honestly it was some of the best burgers, chicken tenders and mozzarella sticks a kid could ever ask for. My grandfather was a known usual suspect here and he'd basically take us here weekly. He'd have coffee with the crew and me and my brother would eat at our own little table. Ordered a Bacon Cheese Burger w/fries from their lunch menu. Food, burger patty was very large, so the food to value ratio already started on a good note, although due to large size it was very noticeable that the patty itself lacked seasoning as well as was a bit over cooked so the patty wasn't as juicy as I would've liked it to be. Second, the toppings on the burger were Fresh and ideal for relatively normal toppings (tomato, lettuce, onions, pickle and mayo), along with the normal toppings, the bacon definitely didn't fall short, it was the optimal size for the size of the burger, only thing I would have wanted from it was maybe just one more slice. Fries were fried to perfection, some of the best crinkle cut fries I've ever tasted, the perfect golden color with the best crispy outside. In addition to the fries, we were brought an orange house sauce that went with the fries very well and could definitely be put on the burger if you desired. Notation: 7 does not exist on my 1-10 scale. Burger- 6.8/10 Fries- 10/10 Service 9.2/10, was very good, we were checked on multiple times, everyone was extremely friendly. The turkey bacon club was tasty and the cheeseburger special was ok. BUT we waited more than 1 hour to receive our food after being seated at 11:30 AM, our food arrived at 12:40 Pm. Absolute total chaos in this nice small neighborhood spot. They definitely need more cooks and they need to consider having folks ordering carry out to wait outside and hire a host to take orders outside for carryout orders and NOT allow folks to continuously hold the door open letting all the flies in and air out and exceeding the legal occupancy limit and hire someone to run the cash register. it was a total nightmare on July 19, 2024. We decided to randomly check this place out one day and so glad we did. Small little place with cute and unique decor, especially with all those license plates. The restaurant claims their "burgers may become habit forming" so I decided to order the Bacon Cheeseburger. I usually order burgers medium rare but I was not asked how I wanted my burger done. Instead I was asked, "Is medium-well ok?" implying that they like to cook every burger a certain way. Thus, I went ahead with medium-well. The burger was a standard deli style burger with little flavor. The bacon, however, was nicely crisp with just the right amount of fattiness. Good slice of onion and adequate pickles. Bun is just the right size not like some places that have a too big bun that takes away from the burger. The side of fries that come as a part of the "Special" is HUGE, enough for two, save a little if two people want burgers and fries. I ordered the fried okra as an appetizer and again the portion was huge- enough for three to four people easily. The drinks come in big glasses so there is little chance you'll be getting a refill. Now for the areas that I feel could use a little improvement. The burgers could use a little more seasoning, even if it's a tad more salt and pepper while on the grill. They could consider offering a smaller size burger for those that don't want a big, thick burger. Areas they do a great job at: portion sizes, great prices, big drinks, good tasting burgers. This place is advertised as being in the middle of nowhere in a town called Eaton Park. It's really in Lakeland. I learned of S&L when my mom sent me an article talking about how good the burgers are. If there is one thing I love in this world, it's a good burger. When you pull up, you instantly get the feeling that this is somewhere Guy Fieri would be highlighting on DDD. It's very cozy, clean, and customer-oriented. I don't understand their opening hours (close at 1:45 everyday except Saturday, it's 12:45) but I guess that's what creates the appeal and demand for their food. They don't start serving lunch until 11. On to the food. I ordered the bacon hamburger and fries. The food came out hot and fresh and the burger was good as advertised. The patty was thick and well seasoned and topped with lettuce, tomatoes, and sauteed onions. It was phenomenal! The fries are crinkle cut and also great. I'm very happy to have discovered this gem and can't wait to return. There was a consistent flow of traffic so prepare to wait. There were 3 people in my party and we all ate for $24. We arrived at 12:20, ordered by 12:26, and had to wait about 30 minutes to get our order. Now, that may seem like a looong time to wait but you have to appreciate a) they were slammed (I'm talkin' full house), b) those patties are homemade, HUGE, and fresh, and c) all good things come to those who wait. My bacon cheeseburger with fries was absolutely worth the wait. Our party was very happy with their food. The fries were perfectly seasoned. Did I mention lunch came to less than $9 each? I went to the restaurant to pick up my food, which was of course packed. I only had to wait a short while for my order to be ready. Make sure you bring cash because they don't take cards!
