Bedbugs. Toilet was not secured to the bathroom floor. Stovetop doesn't work. Layer of dust all over the room. Television doesn't work. Did I mention the bedbugs? Staying at a hotel should not endanger your health. For an area like Nashville that thrives on the tourist industry I have a level of expectation that the hospitality industry will provide clean rooms in good working order and a comfortable environment. Regardless of the level of room or rate, I believe that just about any business that calls itself a "hotel" would provide a minimum expectation for all customers. Bedbugs... The check in at this hotel was so fast...I didn't even have to set my backpack down! Within 5 minutes of walking into the lobby, I had keys in hand and was walking into my room. The room was great...full size fridge with a cooktop and microwave and full sink...really great and convenient. I loved the walk in shower and it had a ton of hot water and great pressure! The bed was great and really comfy. The hotel is in a busy area but the property is very quiet...never had trouble finding a parking space. I had forgotten my room key one night...and had returned to the hotel after 2am...the manager happened to be in the hallway and he had no problem going to make me a new key...just top notch service from the very beginning! read more

One of the worst hotels I've ever stayed at. The room was clean ... I have to give them credit for that, which is of course very important. But the mattress was like sleeping in the cone of a volcano, with my posterior inside the volcano and my head and feet at the rim. For $500 they can replace the mattress, but clearly, that's not a priority at Suburban Hermitage. read more

The woman at the front desk was extremely friendly and helpful. She was cheerful, gregarious, and engaging. Like, I think we should be best friends. Would it be weird to look up front desk clerks on Facebook and become friends with them? We could ride tandem bikes through the park, eat ice cream, and laugh as we fed the ducks. The cost of this hotel was the cheapest for the area and you can see why when you stay here. Although on Expedia, hotels.com and other sites it is around $50-$60 a day you can go to www.choicehotels.com and use your points and also get it for around $35 night through that site :) This hotel is really better for construction workers who are here for work and not looking to spend much time in the room. The hotel besides the stock photos is older and shows from sheet rock patches, cracks in the walls, etc. They do however have a full kitchen with a 2 burner electric stove top, mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and even has a skillet & Pan along with silverware/cups/coffee mugs for two. We brought all our own since it didn't mention this on their website. However I always recommend buying your own small 5cup coffee maker from Walmart or etc and bring with you as for work ive experienced and found people can put milk or other fluid into the coffee maker and you wont know. The Staff is very friendly, however the woman who works mornings doesn't know anything and isn't very helpful at all. Your better off waiting for the manager or someone else. Always a smile on their faces and great customer service. I had mentioned that the mattress was a bit uncomfortable due to age and the next thing I know, they sent a new mattress to my room. Well, on the plus side, it's perfectly acceptable for a one-night stay. The bed was fairly comfy.and the AC blew very cold. But to consider this an "extended stay" option is a bit of a stretch. The "full kitchen" was kind of a joke, anyone who actually cooks in the room is either a super stingy miser or flat broke. The room itself smelled a little musty and smokey, even though it was billed as non-smoking. Anyway, for the one night I needed a bed and a shower, it fit the bill. The pictures on the website definitely play up this hotel. We couldn't check in until 4pm upon arrival, checkout was 10am. My husband and I were staying for 3 nights, but were only given 2 towels. They actually directed you to bring your dirty towels, blankets, etc. to the front desk and get clean! We saw families carrying dirty towels and sheets all the way to the front desk. It was absolutely disgusting. We also paid an extra $15 for a queen bed and definitely weren't given one. I'm only giving this hotel 2 stars because we were rarely at our hotel, and there are a lot of shopping centers and places to eat near by. Would recommend paying a little more money to stay somewhere nicer and closer to the city next time. read more

Ok, so I want to preface this by saying a few things. I have never been inclined to write an online review before now, I live in a large northeastern city and have been in some pretty grody places, and I am a very laid back/unfussy person. However, I want to save people a bad experience due to the fact that this place is not like the pictures whatsoever. I had a death in the family and needed a place cheap, close to the airport, and available within a day of my booking. I get it-you get what you pay for, but this just goes beyond words. The mildew was everywhere. The faucets, toilet, air conditioner, outlets-everywhere. The floors literally made my feet dusty and gray at the bottom. The hallway smelled like a mix of ciggarettes, food, and crack. The bathroom-help me Lord-the bathroom had literal blood stains in 4 different places-splattered like you would see from a stabbing or blowing a vein. The shower floor had a huge black stain set in that would not come out with any type of scrubbing. If you had told me someone died in there and wasnt discovered for 3 days I wouldve believed it. The toilet wouldnt flush, and the water smelled disgusting. No sign of bed bugs thank god, and the linens and bed were clean, bed itself was comfy. The wifi was pretty good and the front desk girl Rachael was a total sweetheart. Listen, like I said-i'm not fussy. But come on, clean the blood stains at least? I've seen trap houses and frat bathrooms cleaner than this. Also if you are the type to get nervous around "shady characters", you may want to skip this one. read more

This hotel is located just off I 40 (exit 221B) near the intersection of Central Pike and Old Hickory. We look for 3 things when we stay at a hotel. It has to be safe and clean. Things have to work. A helpful and friendly staff. Sometimes people say 2 out of 3 ain't bad. Not in this case. We arrived around 6PM to check into our room which had booked on the Choice Hotels website well over a month before. The long and the short of it was that they didn't have the room. No I'm sorry or any apology. Just take another room or stay somewhere else. We took a different room. The room was clean and everything seemed to work. It had a mini fridge, microwave and 2 burner cook top. It also had assorted plates cups and cookware. The placement of the outlets was a bit strange but there were several of them. The hotels and the rooms are a bit worn. One thing that caught my eye was the huge red stain on the carpet by the third floor elevator. It always brought a crime scene to my mind. The hotel has a lot of contractors staying there and as you walked to your room, you could hear some partying going on. We never heard anything while inside our room. There is also quite a few permanent residents at the hotel. The internet was passable when it worked. I had it go out one morning and stay down until the next morning. It was the access points that needed to be reset. The front desk girl was very rude and told me they had nothing to do with it, even after I explained that their own IT support had told me that the hotel had to physically reset at the property. If she would have passed it on, it probably would have only been down an hour. I also wouldn't have spent the day at Starbucks doing my work. Two days later when the same thing happened, I went to the front desk in person, and got the same reply from her. After calling Choice hotels about it. The internet actually came up in a couple of hours. There is onsite laundry facility and several fast food and sit down restaurants very close by. The nearest grocery store is 15 minutes away in traffic. This hotel is in a bit of a rough area, but we never felt unsafe while staying there. We were always in our room before dark. We did see a lot of panhandlers and the same drunk girl screaming in the parking lot for 30 minutes at 1 AM 2 nights in a row. My final run in with the rude front desk girl was on the day of my departure. I put the first load of luggage in my car and found that I was locked out of the building. Upon visiting the front desk I was told that everyone's keys deactivate the morning of departure. When I suggested that maybe they should not deactivate until check out time. I was told once again "that's just the way it is". Would I stay at this hotel again? Not until the front desk staff get retrained that customer service is about the customer. The attitude I got turned a possible 4 star review into a 2. I actually wrote the property and got a reply from the manager. The manager Darren failed to address any of my customer service issues and told me sometimes the internet works and sometimes it doesn't. That has nothing to do with us. Really? Your hotel has the contract with the provider. Bottom Line: Older Property OK Price Terrible Customer Service Internet Works Okay If It Works. read more

There were transvestites walking around outside as we approached the hotel and then I saw why. There were a bunch of construction workers staying the night there and they were probably looking for business. Not a place to go to with a wife or kids. Guests gawking at my wife as if they never saw a woman before. Disgusting. The hotel itself was decent except no free weights in the gym. The place smelled like cigarettes even though there's no smoking in the building. People would open the door to the hall and smoke right AT the door so the smoke would come barreling in and te employees said nothing. Wouldn't stay here again. Too bad cause it's a fairly newer hotel. Stay across the way at Marriott instead guys. read more

We travel for a living so it's nice to have all the comforts of home away from home. We were able to cook a meal - had a full size fridge - laundry room (and the front desk conveniently had quarters). The room was super clean and spacious. The halls and property were quiet and the staff was SUPER nice. Maybe the nicest check in person we've ever had. Everything we could have wanted. We'll def be back. read more

We had some issues the first couple weeks staying here, but mostly because of unhelpful staff. Fortunately, we finally met Denise at the front desk who is so knowledgeable and helpful about the hotel, she kept us from going somewhere else and corrected all of our issues quickly(: would be a five star, but I feel like housekeeping could scrub the rooms down a little better. Cleanliness is probably the most important thing when it comes to staying somewhere, where other people haven been staying. Things like light switches, doors/knobs, windowsills and floors could have some more attention paid to them. Maybe it's just because I used to be a housekeeper, but I know a clean room(; I might be pickier than others but I don't think cleanliness is a huge thing to ask for. This facility is MUCH older than what it appears. It is not terrible but sure needs updating. The kitchen is so very small not even large enough for one person. There was only one nightstand. The fan in the bathroom did not work. The light fixtures were from the 70s. The hotel is very difficult to get in out and out of and the traffic is terrible. Not at all what I pictured. I have stayed in MUCH better extended stay facilities and at about the same price and they were much better. Did not feel very safe around the area. I would NOT recommend!!! read more

The hotel is easy to find, and has fast food, and stores around it making it an easy stay. It's about 15 minutes from downtown Nashville, and the rates were so much better. The parking lot was clean, and had plenty of spaces. And most important the area felt safe. Check in was simple and fast. I do not normally book a room at an extended stay hotel, but this one wasn't like the dingy one you picture in your head. This one was nice, and clean. My room was huge, and it had a kitchen! The hallways stunk like weed and dirty carpet, the bed was tiny and broken, the walls were water stained, and the window was locked with a wooden stick. Wouldn't recommend this hotel. Needed one night to visit family in Hermitage. First room, smoking room, had a stench that just would not stop. Went to front desk and asked for a non-smoking room. I moved to first floor 'non-smoking' room. The stench was just as overpowering in this room but I thought I could suck it up for one night & I was in a hurry to get to my family function. Returned a few hours later. Regretted immediately that I'd forgotten to get a candle or air freshener. So I made a pot of coffee hoping the coffee aroma would fill the room (didn't work). I pulled the covers back on the bed and found a long strand of hair on the sheet. Omg. Went into the bathroom to wash my hands, and there on the floor was a used band-aid (soiled side up). Thought I was going to lose my lunch. Grabbed my stuff, got a full refund, and got the hell outta there. *DO. NOT. STAY. HERE.* *Suburban Extended Stay: Your cleaning staff suck. Open some windows, change the air filters, burn candles, but do SOMETHING to try and rid your hotel of the stench. And don't try to pass off a 'non-smoking' room to guests. You can't hide that lie. Very small room, just a hotel room with a kitchenette. My room (237) had paint chipped walls, a sticky laminate floor and worse of all the bathroom floor seems to be rotting out at the shower stall. The toilet runs the fault line between the solid part and soft part of the floor so you sit at an angle. I'm sure one day that toilet will be in room 137! Overall room cleanliness was below average. This place is in definite need of an update. I was in town for a week of business and figured I'd give this brand a try since I'm usually happy with Choice Hotels, but won't use them again. Bedding sucked too. Just a sheet on a mattress, no padding. Wifi was spotty, cutting in and out constantly. I would not recommend this hotel. read more

This is THE WORST hotel I have EVER stayed in! It is very dirty, smells awful (like cigarettes), and is in a scary area. My husband and I booked through Hotwire.com. We are moving from Utah to South Carolina and this is the third hotel we are staying at along the way and is by far the worst. And the most expensive?! The guy at the desk is extremely unhelpful and rude! I am pregnant and the cigarette smell is making me physically sick. Instant headache the second we walked through the door. We were informed that there are no other rooms available and we cannot get a refund because we booked through a third party. So now we are stuck here because Hotwire.com will not accommodate us. And even if we could get a refund every other hotel is now completely booked! This is ridiculous! I would not recommend this hotel to ANYONE! Stay clean of this nasty place! read more

This place was disgusting. We were scheduled to stay three weeks while waiting for the closing on our new house. We left after a week and a few days. First, the room had a humidity problem. Everything in the room felt damp and the place smelled terrible. It is supposedly no smoking, but also had a strong smoke smell to add to the already lovely mold smell. On the inside, everything was pretty run down, but it APPEARED clean, so we decided to give it a shot. There was a long term resident that was in the room above us, and he or she stomped around all night like Godzilla. I realize this is not the hotel's fault, but it highlights the next complaint. There are a lot of long-term residents who seem to live there full-time. Adds a seediness aspect to the whole place. This brings me to my next point. On the first night, we were woken by a very LARGE dog barking in the room next door (this is supposed to be a pet-free hotel). The dog was there the entire time we stayed, which means it was with a long-term resident, and I seriously doubt the hotel staff could have remained oblivious to its existence. When I checked in the lady at the desk was very friendly (the only bright spot on the whole stay). She told me that the staff kept quarters available for the laundry room and that housekeeping occurred every seven days. Both of those things turned out not to be true. When I went to the desk later in the week to get quarters, the lady said, "We don't have any...you'll have to go to a store somewhere to get some." At the end of the first week, we expected housekeeping to come change sheets, provide new towels, and do their job. No one showed up. When we called the front desk, the lady basically said, "Oh well. There's no one here because it's Sunday, I'll leave a note." The next day (Monday), we were assured that housekeeping would come, but when they did they only made one of the two beds, provided "clean" towels, and did no other housekeeping. When we returned to the room and saw the shoddy job, we were told that our room was cleaned on the previous Friday (it wasn't, because I was in the room the entire day, so I would know). Then they said, "If you want new sheets you'll have to come get them yourself." (This in spite of the fact that we could see the cleaning crew still working in other rooms). The next morning, we went to use one of the new "clean" towels and found it covered in black grime. That was the final straw, we left that day. When I told the man at the desk why we were leaving he said, "Well, that's the way things go sometimes." In spite of the initial positive attitude from the front desk staff, later interactions showed they all have flippant attitudes that border on rude. Do not waste your time or money. You'd be better off sleeping in your car. If you can stay anywhere else, you should. read more

First the front desk staff were friendly and extremely efficient. The exterior of the hotel is also very nicely manicured. The room on the other hand was very disappointing. Only regular size uncomfortable beds. Rooms very outdated. To their credit there was a full size refrigerator and small coffee pot. Woke up in the morning to a cockroach crawling on the ceiling above the bed! A picture fell off the wall and a cockroach was behind the picture. It's sad to have such a friendly staff and the rooms so disappointing. Ownership needs to step up their game. Came home and emptied my suitcase in the garage and immediately put all my clothes in the washer for fear of bed bugs. read more
