I am beyond disappointed with suburban exterminating, and that is an understatement.. I had a few cockroaches in my kitchen that we're coming out at night so I decided to call thinking it was going to be a very simple thing.. The salesman John came over and iI explained to him that I needed to do something that was animal friendly since I have pets. He told me it was not a problem, and there was a gel that you could put in the cabinets... Right before he was leaving, I asked Him to look at a crawlspace to double check for mice and when he came back, he told me that I had rats. I thought this was strange because I don't hear anything in the walls. He proceeded to tell me it was going to be a very big job and he went to the basement and he opened up the drop ceiling. He told me there was a very big dead rat. I asked to see it, but he said that this was going to be a job for the cleanup crew And that the rats were most likely having their babies in the insulation and they were Going to need to come in and do a big cleanup of the crawlspace and they could remove the dead rats. I was mortified. He also told me that there were some rings of liquid on the drop ceilings, which were most likely rat. Urine.. Then he told me that it was going to be a couple of month process for the cockroaches and I needed to remove everything out of any kitchen cabinet, And all the bathrooms in any place with the sinks. He told me this was Follow up every two weeks and I should just leave everything out of my cabinets for at least a six week. Period. I went and I bought boxes and I hired two people to help me and we literally removed everything to prepare for the visit of the Tech Chris. When Chris arrived, he told me that my three days of work and effort of boxing everything and paying my helpers $400 was all in being because if you use the gel treatment, it is not necessary and you only need that if you do the Spray. We have not chosen the spray because it was not animal friendly... So it took me three days unpacking everything and then it took Days to put everything back for nothing because the technician gave me the wrong information. Then he proceeded to tell me I only had a few cockroaches, and he had only seen a few behind the fridge and he put a few dabs of gel in the hinges of some of the cabinets Less than a half hour. Then he went down to the basement and he said there was absolutely no evidence of rats, and I asked him to take out the drop ceiling Where John had told me there was a dead rat and he said there was absolutely no rats and no rats in any insulation and he could see possibly some old mouse poop that was over 6 years old. he also said that the rings in the ceiling were not caused by rat urine, and that was where my AC condenser was dripping. I told him that I had paid extra for the clean up of The insulation And there was nothing to clean up. His whole visit took less than an hour and a half, and there was no cleanup at all, and barely any cockroaches like I was told No rats that he assured me. The salesman is a scam artist Who tries to pray on women who he thinks he can scare into alerting them that their problem Is worse than it is. He literally got me for $2600 for an hour and a half visit where they sprayed a little gel behind my refrigerator and stove and in a few Hinges of cabinets... They also sprayed a little on the outside of the house. 60s of my summer on the most beautiful days were completely gone with packing and unpacking boxes And then waiting for the technician to come. By the way, the technician Chris was honest. I called the manager and Them at suburban and he said he was going to definitely give me a refund and he was so sorry and it has been over two weeks and there has been no refund.. I called a woman I spoke to her on the phone last week and she told me someone would call me back the next day and they never did.. They scammed me for $2600 and convinced me I had a problem that I did not have And I lost 60s of the summer packing up my entire kitchen and bathroom, which I will not get back. The manager said he was making sure I had a refund and I have not heard anything back or a follow up or even so much as a check-in to make sure that I had calmed down.... The cockroach problem by my kitchen sink is still here and I haven't left with a very bad feeling... I would not recommend this company to anyone. Not only was my money stolen, but six days of my summer, which I will never get back. Why would they tell someone who was using gel in the cabinets and I made it very clear it could only be gel because I had animals...... I've been with Aptive for 6 years - they were great up until around January - at this time it seems like they just hired any random person off the street who didn't do a darn thing. The final straw with Aptive was when a yellow jackets nest started in the siding of my house. An exterminator came, told me he would apply a dust but likely it wouldn't work and we'd need to remove all the shingles so they could address the issue. I knew this was just false information and no "dust" was even applied, I wish I would have stood outside to watch what he done instead of actually doing his job....so I decided to give Suburban a call. A day later their sales rep came, I explained the situation, he was shocked by what the Aptive guy told me and said. Yesterday was first treatment by Suburban. The yellow jacket nest was gone in just a few hours and the exterminator treated the outside of my house for any other seasonal pests but was considerate of my pets and explained to me every step of the process. He also will be doing a follow up next week to make sure no more yellow jacket issues. I'm very happy so far with Suburban - I just wish I switched to them months ago. Severe rodent problem that we sought help first from Regal then from Suburban. Very disappointed! They pretty much did the same thing as Regal for twice the cost!; put traps everywhere with no success. Technician would initially come on a weekly basis to check traps but no longer showed up. All they would say is rodents are "smart" and wont be trapped! We now have to worry about our clothes being chewed! This is a review of solely the driver driving the exterminating vehicle. He is aggressive, almost cussed a 3 vehicle accident, he weaves in and out of traffic and beeps his horn AS SOON AS THE LIGHT TURNS GREEN!!! After 15 years of being a loyal customer, I am SHOCKED by my most recent experience. It seems like it's not coincidental that it was my most expensive to date. Suburban would only schedule an appointment to exterminate my current insect problem after I signed a contract and paid $647. We paid, scheduled an appointment and they failed to show after we waited the full 4 hour window on a Friday. With little to no apology, they said they could only reschedule almost a week later. Unacceptable as the insects were multiplying! After speaking with a manager, he guaranteed an 8:00 am appointment on Monday (today). We have written confirmation from the manager. We texted again this morning to confirm. No technician came at 8!!!!! The manager never called back after "checking on it." Needless to say, when I requested a refund and a call from his supervisor, I heard back from no one! It's 3:20...crickets (no pun intended). They have no problem holding my money hostage and failing to deliver the contracted service. SHAME ON YOU, SUBURBAN! You're not the only game in town. read more

Ive had a contract with Suburban for many years, and I'm writing to say they have been amazing. We originally contacted them when we couldn't solve a carpenter ant problem in the house. We tried to get rid of the ants ourselves, and then hired two local exterminators, but the ant would continue to return. After hiring Suburban, we saw a tremendous decline each year until there have been none the last few years. We had wasp nests in the backyard that they took care of and most recently, crickets in the basement. They visit automatically, but when I've called in between visits for a problem, they've been prompt to respond. read more

I am learning that companies with too many excellent reviews, especially from people who have only 1 or 2 reviews at most under their name, are generally suspect. I was looking for a company to examine 3 basement windows for termites that a home inspector said he thought might be there (for a couple who were interested in buying the house). I had no trouble fixing what they wanted, I had just installed a new garage motor & sensor for $1300 for them. I say this so you understand it was not money I was avoiding to spend. The window frames are all plastic & I found nothing. I had Suburban come who was obviously frustrated so looked in a ceiling spot that I had cut open to let warm air get to water pipes when temps drop below 10°. The opening then screws back on when not needed. There is no wood--just a water pipe that goes to the upper sink. The small ceiling board is made of drywall. The suburban rep looked into it with a small flashlight, stuck his finger in & pulled out a web of dust & said "well it looks like I can tear out the walls and ceiling but you could do a cheaper method by treating the outside of the whole house for $1299 plus tax." That was it. After he left I called a referral: Kane exterminating. They came and did a thorough enough check EVERYWHERE in and out of the house to the point that I was getting nervous. After almost an hour he said there was no signs of any live infestation. I then showed him the paper from Suburban that listed what the cost would be to fix the problem that wasnt there, & after a few choice words he showed me where there was evidence of a small very old treated termite spot in the garage (he was right as when we first moved in, a wk later we found & treated it--23 yrs ago!), and that was it. I paid a small amount for the checkup just because I wanted a document with a year guarantee of coverage to transfer to the buyer so if anything did appear it would be covered. If it was just a checkup with no paper needed it would have been free. This was worth every penny. What a shock to find that a company with SO many excellent reviews would do something like that. I hired Suburban for services that were unable to take place due to scheduling conflicts. A refund was promised to me a few months ago and I am still waiting on it. I have been met with delays and excuses. It has been an extensive waiting game, with no clear resolution in sight. The lack of accountability from this service provider has been incredibly disappointing. I have reached out to discuss the situation numerous times, and have spoken to Gerianne who constantly assures me that the refund is on its way. This company's level of unprofessionalism is unacceptable, and it reflects poorly on their commitment to customer satisfaction. Suburban exterminating was the first company i used. They were clever with advertising and looked like they'd be great. The first time i needed then they came two days later and "fixed" my any problem. We got talked in to a year contract with seemed like a good idea and i would do other places if i knew more about them first. Our ant problem was definitely NOT fixed. There were several other trips. Any time the ants would come back it would be a long time before an exterminator would be able to make it to our house. We ended our contract with them after a year. Now they are calling me several times a week. I will not be using them again. read more

These guys always show up when they say they will, with a photo ID so you know who they are (they email you first) and a smile. Nothing is ever too much trouble for them. Go for the contract, they come whenever you need to get rid of pests which is frequent here, all for one price. They're also mindful of pets and kids who may use the areas. They give you good information about what they're putting down and how long it takes to work or when you can use the area etc. Family business and they care about their customers. read more

We hired them on recommendation of a neighbor but neglected to ask what she was being charged. The $795 annual fee they charged us was twice her rate as well as twice the rate charged other neighbors both those using them and those using competitors. Called Suburban when we started seeing bugs on our back deck. Nancy was awesome when she came to inspect and give us an estimate. We signed up for service with her that day. We had to postpone the spraying twice due to heavy rains. We finally had Joe come today to spray. He was great and was experienced at what he does. The moral of this story is please read your contract COMPLETELY, THOROUGHLY, and make sure you are comfortable with every single word, before you sign it. It's binding. This may be a long review, but I do feel that...as paying customers who work REALLY hard for our pennies and dollars... we really need to have a complete understanding of any shenanigans of any business which signing a VERY BINDING contract and handing over our hard-earned cash. On my knees I beg you to keep scrolling through exterminating and pest control... do not stop on Suburban... do not pass go... I am still shaking my head at the sheer ineptitude & lack of professionalism that I experienced from this company. A tried and true Mom and Pop with the Mom taking the calls, the Pop teaching his sons the business and the two sons servicing. AAA Brothers actually gave me a deep respect for the pest control business as Paul (one of the sons) would literally walk me around my house every time he came and show me exactly what he was doing, why he was doing it, and how it worked. When Mom and Pop became snow birds then the two sons tried to hold it down, but eventually they went house to house to their customers to let us know that they were moving down south too... to care for their mom who had gotten sick. Now THAT'S service. We live in woodsy area with insects, vermin, carpenter ants, and as some of you may know, those suckers are immune to everything (including nuclear warheads, I'm sure). I felt comfortable around salesman who seemed very nice. I felt that he was thorough & experienced & just a really nice guy. After speaking at length with him, I said to myself. "these guys really seem to care ab. their customers". As he went through step-by-step I was so impressed that I chose the most comprehensive package. *** I read the contract that he sent through DocuSign and realized that there were some terms that he spoke about during the visit that were not stipulated in the contract.*** I called him, brought it to his attention, he apologized and would revise the contract to reflect his offer. I **When I got the contract back I had to call him back again (I am not going to bind myself to a contract if it doesn't reflect the discussion in the sales pitch) and said to him, "you told me that you would cover the whole house and perimeter but you didn't include the areas you will cover in the contract - I'm concerned. Will you cover it?" Once again he apologized and said that he would change the contract and send me a new one to reflect our discussion in our home. Now I had not asked him to do anything out of the ordinary. The contract was not reflecting HIS words. I wasn't upset or angry or unhappy. I just thought it was an oversight. Before I hung up I also mentioned that I had to change the date because of an unforseen conflict. He came on the Thursday and I was going to have the techs come the next day, Friday. He seemed good-natured & said "that's okay, what day works for you?" I told him "ANY DATE that works for you. I feel so bad that I have to change but I want to accomodate you so that it's not as much of an inconvenience". He said "no inconvenience, just pick a day." I said how about next Friday, same time?" He said "That would be great!!! TO THIS DAY I HAVE NEVER HEARD A THING FROM HIM. No contract, No phone call, No communication, Nothing... EXCEPT... I received a voided contract email that said only a few words-see below" "agreements3@suburbanexterminating.com 4401XXXXBundleV7DocuSign6_6_2017-1 has been voided for the following reason: customer sucks. Worst experience imaginable. Do you expect to get what you pay for from a company that charges you monthly for services rendered? If so, don't waste your time or money with this company. I can't even tell you what a waste of time this place is. I had a one year commitment but they don't show up, send guys who don't even know why they are at your house. Leave equipment in your driveway and then argue about it. Cancel at the latest minute after you wait all day for them to show up. AND worst of all: DONT GET RID OF THE PROBLEM. After using this company for years we had recommended this service to friends. The serviceman showed up disheveled, refused to wear his mask and made multiple derogatory and Racist statements to the homeowner. He even quoted the job without even looking at the damage. When brought up to the company they refused to discipline the workman as he had "seniority". There are many fine pest control companies on Long Island and Suburban is not one of them. We won't know how good they are at their job since while they accepted to send an inspector to check whether we had termites, they canceled, and when we called again, we were told that they weren't "going to come just for a table." A very large table, that sits 14 people, on a large wooden deck. Originally I spoke to a very helpful woman, who made the appointment and I was feeling positive. When I called back the next day, in the evening, when we discovered we had an opossum nest under the deck, again I spoke to a very pleasant operator. I received a voicemail the next day telling me opossums were a different department and other things preventing them from coming, and that's fine, so I called again, and the person who picked up wasn't terribly helpful, but did transfer me to a department. Unfortunately, I couldn't stay on hold long enough so I had someone else take care of it, who was told the job wasn't big enough. (I'm confused what a "big enough job" is... Does the house have to be falling down?) So we called someone else. I'm sure they do a fine job, but we never had the opportunity to find out. Edit: After talking to my friend, I found out that they actually do not have a department to deal with our possum problem. They simply transferred us to Nardy Pest Control, another local company. What's the point in using two separate companies? We called someone who will be doing both. read more

I called for a pest issue in my yard. They were very professional and gave me a straightforward price on the phone. The person called before coming over and gave me even a lower price. He kept me posted on the progress each day, and when I had questions my calls would be returned very quickly and my questions were answered. A few months after purchasing my home I noticed I was getting pavement ants in different areas of my home and carpenter ants outside the perimeter. I contacted Suburban after getting the corporate run around from terminex. The sales woman came, inspected my home and assured me they would fix the issue. I started a contract for the piece of mind that comes with year-round protection. Thus far the ant situation has been corrected and the technicians are extremely professional and knowledgeable. They come out fast when I have a service call, and take care of the situation quickly. This company seems to invest in continuing education for it's employees, the techs all seem to know their stuff. It's unfortunate that I had a need for this service, but one visit was all it took to understand why this company has been voted Long Island's best by LI Press for multiple years running. I got back from vacation to a swarm of bees stemming from a small crack in my master bedroom closet. Now, one thing that's great about living in an open concept loft is that there are no walls. But when you have bees dropping dead left and right, that's no longer optimal. I called Suburban first thing this morning, and spoke to a rep named Diane. She was really helpful and informative, laid out my options very clearly, and let me know why this company has the reputation it does. She refused to commit to any particular price quote, instead, telling me why it was up in the air and determining her best guess from a series of informed questions no one else at other companies had bothered to ask. When Ricky came by, he was incredibly courteous, thorough, and respectful. He put 100% into the task, explained everything, from the cause of the hiving, the age and size of the nest, and all. He charged the lower price for the job (indicating honesty), and showed great concern for finishing the job -- not in an urgent "I wanna get out of here" way, but more in a "This is a safety issue for your family" kind of way. In fact, when he got a phone call from the office, I overheard him say, "I'd like to get this taken care of and get this nest out for my customer, so can I call you when I'm finished?" That impressed me. Another thing -- he needed some cardboard and duct tape to temporarily seal the hole. Seeing that I didn't have any, he gave me a whole new roll from his truck, since he said I'd need it! Now THAT'S customer service! I won't bother calling any other company if I ever have another pest issue. They've definitely earned their good reputation! read more

So, here's my update. One of the bosses over at Suburban contacted me the morning after I wrote my original review. I'm not sure if I would have gotten a phone call if I hadn't left a poor review, but I digress. Bill assured me that he was very sorry that we received such poor service, and he would get his best guy over to fix the any problem for us at no cost. My husband was very impressed with the technician but I made sure I wasn't there-I really wanted nothing to do with the entire thing. Today, the same tech (Ikhan) came back to check everything again but my husband had to work so guess who had to be around for Suburban? He was nice enough and explained everything throughly. I am 100% sure that he was overly nice because Suburban wanted me to change my review, he even hinted that's what I should do which I really didn't appreciate. I would leave 2.5 stars if I could but I'll be nice and leave a 3 instead of a 2, especially since we aren't paying for the ant issue. I appreciate them coming out to attempt to do right and at the very least, take care of the ant problem. We still won't be renewing our contract. read more

Beware this company will scam you. I cancelled my service with this company in June 2021 because I witnessed a service tech pull up to my house sit in his care for 20 minutes and then drop a service ticket in my mailbox with out actually doing any service. After cancelling my service in the summer and not having a single bill, service ticket, or correspondence with this company and thinking the matter settled I suddenly start getting harassing pre recorded calls in January 2022 saying I have outstanding balance due on the account. I ignored them thinking these were scam telemarketing calls. Then I started getting letters from the company threatening to sue me for an outstanding balance. When I called the company they had no documentation that I cancelled my service and stated that I owed them for services that were done on 7/13/21 and 9/16/21 despite no services ever being scheduled or done on those days both my wife and I work from home and no one ever came to our house those days. Despite telling them this they continue to harass me and threaten me with a lawsuit if I did not pay. After consulting with a lawyer I was advised to pay the money as it was cheaper then trying to fight them in court. I wonder how many other houses this company has ghosted with their service and how many other people they have essentially blackmailed into paying them for services that were never done. read more

I called because of wasp activity but my husband removed the nest himself so I ask that the tree and gutters be sprayed because the wasps are probably going to return. I was told that they can only spray when they see activity, therefore, they would not conduct preventative spraying. Fortunately, I was coming up for renewal this month, so now I will go to another company which conducts preventative spraying as I'd rather prevent a problem than wait for it to show up for the company to take action. Two different ladies hung up on me mid question. - We pay an enormous amount of money, but are not covered for simple things like carpenter ants. - Even though we asked them four times and they said they would, they do not call ahead and just come whenever they want.
