I wish that this poor review was based on customer service but it is not. It is based on negligent and dangerous behavior. The technician left a pile of mice droppings IN MY KITCHEN and placed a live trap atop the pile. He then instructed me not to go near the traps. I'm not sure why he thinks it is a good idea to leave excrement in a room where an entire family eats and stores its food. The manager Robert M. then suggested i "just vacuum it up" and I later found out that this is one of the most dangerous methods of removal. Unless you happen to have a special type of vacuum - which he didn't tell me. I guess he just assumed that I would be using this special commercial vacuum that they use and not a normal vacuum that throws the toxins through the air like confetti. The advisor who comes under the pretense of being your expert but does not take any responsibility for the promises he makes. Once he's got your money, his change in attitude makes it clear he was only a salesperson. In fact he said so later when I was confronting him on promises he made that were not fulfilled. For example, he went on telling me emphatically how they use only metal trap boxes outside because wildlife gets in to the plastic ones , breaks then and suffers a long painful death . Then the service man following this visit , comes with plastic ones . When I call the guy, his tone has changed and now we find out , oh he's only the salesman and " whatever". The service men did not put the traps in places like attic that the guy promised to on the consultation. Says you can cancel anytime. Charged me $465 for the initial infestation -to put mouse traps which he himself said cost a few pennies. And they say we pay for the expertise and for the people to come out as long as the first infestation takes. Usually it's about three or four visits So after the saleman left he said that we would expect his expert recommendation to go to a service man. The guy arrived and had no idea what was going on - no idea where to put the traps - I had to show him. Then it came time to pick them up. I had to threaten reporting them for them to send someone. A different guy shows up and has no idea where to look for the traps. I told him that we were told that the expert guy that they give notes to the next person. Oh no they were told nothing On an on. It got worse. After the second week I get a bill for $260 due now. what? ! So it's not 465 ? It's 725! I said enough. I'm done. I spoke to the salesman and it got so clear this has no integrity. He actually back peddled. I wrote them , I spoke to them in person. No matter how many times I told them enough stop. I am canceling , they are still leaving me messages with different people wanting to know what's wrong. They are really disorganized and misrepresent what they offer. Haven't had a good experience with scheduled appointments with Suburban. Signed up for exterminating ants and silverfish. When we signed the contract asked if the technicians who give time windows for appointments to call 1/2 before arriving. First service was supposed to be for both interior and exterior exterminating. No phone call and technician only had time to do the interior even though he finished around 12 noon. Technician said he needed to make a second appointment to complete the exterior since he had other calls. Technician made the second appointment but never showed up. Would not recommend Suburban. read more

The worst customer service ever, very rude. They also do shiddy stuff to overcharge you. BTW beware of the salesman telling you that you can cancel any time when he is really hooking you with 1 year contract. The also delay the exterminating process to have you on a "monthly service" which by the way is not monthly, the charge whenever they feel like to (mostly every 26 days), so at the end of the year you don't pay 12 times but 13. Been their CUstomer ab. 8 yrs, gave them 5 star review a few yrs ago. Now, with more experience with their service, here are my comments for improvement. 1. When customer calls to schedule service and describes the problem, the person taking the call must ask more questions. 2 weeks ago i called and said I'm seeing black ants in my kitchen and adjacent bath. The technician came, put the bait down in these two places, but when i said what about spraying outside for black ants, he said he d been booked for inside only. I had assumed, since the outside where they come from, it would be full service, inside and outside. Of course the ants continued to show up, i had to call for another visit. 2. Today's technician Norm gave excellent service. I went with him through all areas, pointed out the places where i see ants most often. 3. The spray substance is effective for 3 mo. So it makes sense to spray the areas protected from rain, like the skirt around the house just above the basement walls, and other out of reach places for the rainwater. Yet i noticed with prior technicians they direct the spray on open surfaces where the first rain will wash it off, just poisoning the environment without the full benefit of pest protection. Please instruct your technicians. 4. I singed up to get text messages when the technician is on his way, but i am NOT getting them. I need to be present for regular spraying, cant do that if not notified. I still think this is a good company, would recommend it to a friend, but they need to address these issues. read more

I live in Cutchogue, NY and have had an annual contract with Suburban for 2 years. I always felt that they did a good job but was very impressed last weekend. On Friday night after 8 PM we discovered a nest of wasps in our front door kick plate. My husband made a crazed, paniced call to a very friendly and helpful operator who dispatched a friendly and helpful exterminator to our house in under an hour. He found the source of the problem, exterminated the nest that night and set up a follow up appointment for 2 days later. I called today and was very happy to confirm that this late night/weekend/emergency service was included in our yearly contract. read more

I have a service agreement ( multiple agreements)... every time I call them it's a mortgage payment to get anything taken care of even with your service agreements. Though their customer service department is always is very professional. the pricing is out of control. Recently I had a groundhog ripping up my Foundation and I called them out to give me a price quote couple days later they came out and gave me a price quote. The quote was crazy. They were going to charge me for every week they didn't catch him when I called and asked them to work with me they told me they give me one free week. Not only that they couldn't even take care of it for another three more days The Trapper also told me a bunch of stuff that I later found out was not true. Very upset I called another company who came in and gave me a price that was half what Suburban was going to charge and guaranteed to come back if the groundhog came back and recatch him with no additional charge for the entire season. And the Trapper came out that same day and caught him the same day... and cover the holes unlike Suburban. Time and time again this company keeps taking advantage of me. read more

I have had a contract with Suburban for many years. They have always been reliable and professional. Just recently I heard noise in my wall and called. they came the very next day to determine what the issue was (yellow jackets) and came the next day (Sunday) to resolve it. The peoop0le in the office were kind, efficient, caring, understanding and went above and beyond to get me help. The exterminator that came on Sunday was I-Kahn and took time to explain what was going on, told me options with no pressure to do more than was necessary and even took the time to tape up the wall that was soft due to the bees. Absolutely garbage company with 0 communication. We bought a new house hired suburban to come and they pushed the termite trap nonsense and also placed traps in my garage. 1.5 years later and 0 reports or communication from suburban other than to send a bill to renew services, which obviously we did not. They do not call to set up time to come check traps so no idea when they are at my home. Never checked the garage traps at all. So all in all I basically feed the termites an extremely expensive meal for 1.5 years. Stay away from this termite scam if at all possible, but it seems all exterminators are on the same page to push this expensive system that requires little to no maintenance. LIke another reviewer who said they came before a birthday party, they scheduled a visit unannounced at my home today, the first beautiful Saturday afternoon on Mother's Day weekend! That was a FAIL. They always come during the weekday, and now they show up on the first beautiful Saturday afternoon on Mothers Day weekend?? Who is their scheduler? Who are these people? They have no common sense. Even they should have called first to see if we really wanted them to come. They just showed up. The second worst part was being unable to reach anyone for a half hour. I had to call, be on hold for several times, no one picking up, then chatting and no response. They do not even leave the phone number of the agent. What if I had to call him about an issue? Please do not come on the weekends when people are enjoying themselves!! And answer your phones!! Leave the agent's contact number!! Be more considerate -- really. I feel this company and their employees deserve a review. Suburban Exterminating is helping us with an insect issue in our home. After calling two other companies on a Sunday with no answer, I was able to speak with someone from Suburban to schedule a site visit. Sales rep Matt provides a pleasant soft sale and explained our options, how to prepare. and what to expect. I had a few additional questions and was able to contact him on his cell. The tech, Christopher called prior to his arrival and showed up in the scheduled time window. He furthered explained the process and performed a thorough service. I received two calls from the main office checking on the issue and to schedule a follow up visit. Christopher showed up again with his Supervisor for the site inspection. His applications seem to be very effective and have minimized the insect activity. This company and all its employees provide an excellent professional service. read more

Had an urgent bees-in-the-house problem that needed to be addressed ASAP. Customer service was quick and helpful (whereas Terminix kept us on hold for AGES). We were charged a flat rate (no hidden fees or surprises, plus it came with an automatc 60 day, no charge guarantee). They told us that they would be able to get someone out to the house by 5pm same day (we called around noon). A technician arrived at the house within 90 minutes. He worked quickly and efficiently (and was incredibly polite) and offered a free-of-charge follow-up visit to ensure that the problem was resolved.
