I was going to pay them $950 for the estimates. I was supposed to hear from them within a few days to make the payment. It's been over two weeks, and I haven't heard from them. I found another company to provide the estimates for half the cost and even appear up to two times in court to back up the estimates for no extra charge. I was afraid the estimates from Harth Builders would have been overblown and caused me a problem in court anyway.

I feel very strongly that I got exactly what I had envisioned from day one. Emily was our designer, and she knew what I wanted right from the beginning. She listened to me, and she made it happen. She was also honest when I asked her to help me make certain choices where I was indecisive, and I appreciated that very much. Our carpenters were excellent, highly skilled, and efficient. The project manager was there when we had questions and worked hard to coordinate subcontractors to complete the project with minimal downtime. Subcontractors were also great. Unlike another reviewer here, my neighbor just commented that Harth was very good about not disturbing the neighborhood, which he appreciated. Is Harth more expensive than other contractors? Maybe, but in my experience you truly do get what you pay for and what we got is exceptional.

He came out early and got things done so they could start on things. Henry was the project manager, and he was very quick and responsive when it was time to move on the project. I found the slab I fell in love with in March, put down a deposit, and they held it for me without a storage fee until December. Henry spent quite a bit of time with me in rearranging the template, found another stone that matched what I had, as we needed another piece to finish everything, and was very patient with my inexperience in knowing anything about picking out edges of counters. (Who knew what pencil edge was?!) The Georgia crew delivered things a week later. The 3 guys that installed things were excellent. They were very careful, and it was quite interesting to watch the process. They did no damage to anything in the house, installed the granite very carefully, and also installed my sink. I would highly recommend them. They knew this stone was very special and treated it as such.

It was 'absolute black' in a 'leathered' finish (really pretty finish that is not at all smooth or shiny, instead it has a 'pitted' appearance). So, I decided to go with them again for the kitchen countertops - a much bigger and more expensive job. I ordered the same granite, absolute black leathered. I wasnt at home when they arrived but my boyfriend was there and when I got home I realized that I did not get the same finish - I think its absolute black but not leathered. Instead its rather shiny which is exactly what I was trying to avoid.... To top it off, the piece was damaged and quite chipped along the back edge so it looks pretty messy and will require a thick back-splash to cover the edge which I had not been intending to use.

I came here for a new kitchen countertop project as a returning customer, having had a good…read moreexperience with their pricing and products in the past. I spoke to an elderly Asian male and let him know that I was a returning repeat customer. The guy told me the business was under new ownership but assured me he'd work with me on pricing. After selecting a granite slab, we sat down to discuss costs. Unfortunately, the conversation quickly became frustrating. The guy quoted me a price of over $60 per square foot, which I found to be unreasonably high, especially since competitors were offering similar materials in the $50 range, with additional discounts for larger projects. What really rubbed me the wrong way was the way pricing was negotiated. Instead of being straightforward, he put on a performance--asking a Mexican woman behind the counter, who I knew to be an employee from previously, if she could approve a better price. He clearly was pretending as if he didn't have final say on the cost, even though I knew he was the boss. After clearing it with this "employee" he agreed to take off a nominal $3 per square feet. I asked if he would agree to throw in a free sink, as advertised, and he did this same song and dance show where he needed to clear it first with his fake boss. Seeing through his bs, I asked about Mimi, his counterpart whom I had better dealings with in the past. He told me she was no longer with the company due to the change in ownership. However, when I returned to the yard later to look at another slab, a worker mentioned that Mimi was still employed but just off that day. That inconsistency confirmed my growing doubts about this guy. At that point, I decided to walk away. I told the owner I'd think about it and ended up taking my business elsewhere. It's unfortunate, but the lack of transparency and the pricing games they played have cost them a loyal customer. If these guys wants to stay in business he should really let Mimi run the show.

Had a great conversation with Jeremy who gave me a few options. 4 days later I got a call that exactly what I wanted was not going to be possible with their current supply and was given several different options. A few hours later I got a text message that my order was ready, I picked it up, Jeremy answered a half-dozen questions for me about joining, sanding, staining, and sealing. He also gave me some information, generally, about their supply, drying processes, Etc. Don't expect this to be a cheap option for you! I paid $200 for three 7 x 40" boards. But now my bar has its own piece of Philadelphia history to tell.

To add to that, everyone there is super friendly and they went out of their way to load up the incredibly heavy pieces for me. Most importantly, the pieces came out beautifully and will be a wonderful​ addition to our kitchen. Pictures to come.
