We have three kids and we have had nothing but great experiences with Suburban Peds. Dr Graham is our main doctor and he is stellar. He is realistic, he listens, and he is great with the kids. We have also had lots of experience with Dr Verges and she is also wonderful. The nurses and office staff are also excellent. They are friendly, accommodating, and helpful. For reference, our kids are all under 2 1/2 and we have been visiting this practice since Jan 2012. read more

I've chosen Suburban Pediatrics for my daughters pediatrician. The first few weeks my daughter was born, she was not gaining weight. As a new parent, I panicked, but Dr. Graham encouraged me to supplement with formula because I was strictly breastfeeding. Thank goodness they recommended that we come in a week later otherwise there could have been major problems. I had no idea I wasn't producing enough milk for her. This practice has good knowledge of all different needs and everyone seems very nurturing with their patients. I have also called the nurse several times (paranoid mom) and I always get a quick response and I don't have to wait long on the phone. It's nice to know that my daughter is being well taken care of here. read more

I would give 0 stars if it weren't for the nurses and two of the doctors in the practice (Joyce and Graham). Otherwise, this place is a nightmare. Every time I brought my infant daughter in, I waited at least 30-45 mins for a doctor to see her AFTER the nurse brought us back. Waiting that long with a sick infant is unacceptable. On two occasions, my husband went to see where the doctor was and the first time, found her (Dr. Verges) chatting and laughing away with some nurses and then was told that she would be right in. Just recently, we had Dr. Verges again for the first appt of the day at 8:45am and when we waited until 9:20am, my husband asked where the Dr. was and was told she wasn't even in yet. An 8:45 appt and she isn't even IN the building yet at 9:20?! Then after the doctor ran tests and told us she would be back in 8-10 mins, we waited ANOTHER 30 minutes for her to come back. Unacceptable. When we expressed our frustrations to Dr. Verges, she claimed the wait time was "normal" and it's because she spends so much time with her patients. Ha! She also claimed our expectations were unreasonable. So she's late, doesn't apologize, insults us, and then is caught in a lie. The most frustrating part though, is that after switching pediatricians, I find out that my daughter is behind on her vaccinations thanks to this place (we followed their vaccination schedule) and that we need to have a skin tag of hers looked at through an ultrasound, which wasn't even mentioned by this place! I have so much guilt for continuing to bring my daughter to this place and recommend that you stay far away from the unprofessional, rude, and negligent doctors here! That being said, I wish Dr. Joyce and Dr. Graham would leave this place, because they were always great, on-time, and caring when we saw them. read more

Like any medical practice with multiple doctors, there will be some that you like better than others, due to personality, etc. In our experience, all of the doctors at this office are competent medical professionals, but I do like some better than others. I love that they have a separate entrance for sick kids, and a third "doorbell entrance" for sick babies, so you don't have to take an infant past sick older kids or infect the healthy kids. :) The office staff is great. And I've almost always been able to get in with a sick kid right away (a couple of times, within 30 minutes, even). When choosing a pediatrician, it's a good idea to make an appointment ahead of time to meet the doctor(s) and see if you feel comfortable with them. We did this before our first child was born. My kids still go to suburban Pediatrics and we have been with them for past 16 years from the day my daughter was born.. Lately I feel the office staff especially the sick child appointment nurses have become very rude.. They need to be given training in talking to patients or parents with compassion. I have been disappointed more than a few times I have called in for my kids .. I feel it's better to go to urgent care when your kids are sick then to suburban.. It's a shame such a good practice with some great doctors don't have an office manager to oversee rude staff.. read more

I have 3 children now and have been going to Suburban Pediatrics since 2012 when I given a recommendation from the hospital. I live 45 minutes to an hour away now and still continue to go there. I have attempted to find another practice closer to my house but had returned to Suburban. The other practice was quick to prescribe antibiotics without trying to find out the problem first. I have never had that experience at Suburban Pediatrics, they have always tried to put off antibiotics unless absolutely necessary. Dr. Graham is by far our favorite, but Dr. Joyce is great too. They spend a long time with you, go over everything, and really listen to any concerns. read more

My wife went here when she was a child, which made it easy when we had our son 10 years ago. When our son was born Dr. Joyce came in and checked him out before we left. I felt reassured being a new father that we had an excellent Pediatrician. We were very happy with the office until about five years ago, when Dr. Flynn was about to retire. This office does have several Pediatricians, but I always wanted to get an appointment with Dr. Joyce. I always felt he had the best "bedside manner" with our kids, and would always take his time. That is the reason why I preferred him, to some of the other Physicians in the office. About five years ago, my daughter was having terrible pains in her leg. So we made an appointment right away and met with a female Pediatrician from the practice. She determined, with only examining the leg by sight and touch, that my daughter may have cancer. She told me to get her in for blood workup at Lutheran General, ASAP. So I quickly drove her to LGH, and after some time she went through different appointments for multiple blood work and MRI's. To our relief it was only diagnosed as growing pains, nothing more. Talk about overreaction by a Physician, which than in turn caused a lot of immediate stress to, us, as the parents! I would've thought a Physician wouldn't give an immediate diagnose of cancer to the parents of a young child without thorough examinations first. Over the last several years, the office has seemed to become very unfriendly and I have always felt like I had to go out of my way to appease the office in order to receive good service. It has become like we are only a number in a crowded ER, and the office has lost a lot of its old school charm and respect towards their patients. I don't know about you, but I'm held accountable by my clients each and every day and if I was apathetic towards them I wouldn't be in business. To sum it all up, I would rather spend an hour on the phone with my Medical Insurance Carrier than an hour in this practice. read more

I have 2 kids and I love all their pediatrician ESP Dr Graham and Dr Joyce. You're always in good hands with them. Waiting time minimum of 10 mins the most. I will definitely recommend their Group. Which I already did with my co workers Iam a nurse and I am Particular with MDs. read more

First let me say that I have been using Suburban Pediatrics for 14 years with all 3 of my children. I lived in Park Ridge when I started using them and continued once I moved to Glenview. I have no issues with the doctors on staff - in fact we love Dr. Joyce. They need to replace the certain support staff - they are the rudest people I have ever had to deal with and it's been going on for at least 3 years. I called last week because I was slightly concerned with my child's cough and wanted to try to get in over the next few days - she gave me the next day appointment but I couldn't make it and her response: "I thought you were concerned for your child?". I can name about 30 other times with similar situations. We have just switched all of our children to another practice. I highly recommend finding a different practice. read more

I really love Suburban and I was thrilled to have them while my son was a newborn. We primarily see Dr. Joyce, and in the beginning, Dr. Graham too. They helped us feel confident as parents and I stuck it out for a 45 min drive for 1.5 years. I really am so happy for each wellness visit seeing Dr. Joyce and talking to him about development and such. He always put us at ease and had great advice and prepared us for things coming up. The perfect dr for a first time parent. The problem for me is sick visits. Each dr in the practice is VERY different and handles appointments in a different way. Recently my son was sick and needed several follow up visits. We saw a different dr each time (it's like winning the lottery to get Dr. Joyce for a sick appointment) and received varying recommendations. We were completely rushed through each time and simply told this is the way it is because my son is in daycare 2x a week. I wish there was more discussion of prevention. I also wish that each physician took the time to ask if we have questions or if we are new to this or make recommendations but they don't. They spend 2-3 minutes and order tests and prescribe antibiotics. While that was necessary because my son had an ear infection, I really at the third appointment needed to hear more about why this is still going on and what else we can do. Here we are going on over 3 weeks sick during the holidays which he has been home with us the majority of the time. read more

We have been going to this practice since my kids were babies and now they are in high school. I have had nothing but good experiences with these wonderful doctors. You can call and immediately talk to a nurse about your sick child and they always give you same day appointments. The nurses and doctors are understanding even with overly concerned parents like me. They give good sound advice and I have never felt rushed at an office visit. I appreciate all this group has done for my kids and for consoling this paranoid mom over the years! read more

We have been bringing our three children here for over 10 years, and are extremely pleased with the care they provide. The doctors are highly professional, kind, and competent. My youngest suffered from a chronic condition which required frequent visits so we got to know all of the nurses and doctors well -- they are all terrific. There has been very little turnover in the 10 years we have been going there. We usually see Dr. Joyce, who has a wonderful manner with children. One of my favorite things about this office is that they have a separate waiting room and treatment rooms for sick children, so we don't risk catching something when we go in for an annual checkup. We have referred many families to this practice, and will continue to do so. read more

My son is 10 months old and I am very please with all the doctors at this office. I am usually in and out and they are all very friendly and helpful. One of my friends recommended them to me and now I have 3 friends that use this office for their children. My friend that recommended them to me has been going there for over 6 years. The doctors are very attentive and are always great with all and any of my concerns. The nurses call back almost immediately. The front desk staff is very friendly as well. I love that they have a separate waiting area for sick children and separate exam rooms for sick children so I'm never nervous that my child will catch something when they are there.
