I am in a current dispute with Suburban. I took over an existing account and the tank rental was $40 they immediately upped it to $50. Grumble, grumble, no big deal then this fall it went to $99. My existing tank was made in 1971 making it 53 years old. So I bought a tank from Ed's Propane in Nampa and Suburban charged me $150 to pick up the old one and remove it. Well I am not paying that so they are turning me over to collection. Collection will find I am just as bullheaded as Suburban did. read more

As a residential customer, my experience with Suburban propane has been far from anything worth repeating. We took over a tank that was on the property when we bought the house. We contacted Suburban to take over billing and service on the tank which was nearly full. Yet Suburban failed to close the prior owners account, provided fill service on this account and expected us to pay it. Failing to actually to the utility transfer. They were explicitly ordered in the future due to the lower volume usage to contact us prior to filling the tank - then they fill it outside of the time frame agreed upon, at the wrong time of year, and without notice. Pricing is atrocious! Current Market rates in the area suggest propane is about $2.50 a gallon, but Suburban is charging nearly $4 a gallon for fill service that wasn't requested or needed! Dump this provided ASAP if you can. read more

Went by today to fabricate a propane system for an oven and a water heater. Eric went out of his way to teach me how everything worked and how to safely build out my van project. Really likeable, knowledgeable and helpful. I felt like I made a friend. Grateful for the visit. read more

I made the mistake of using suburban propane when I moved into a 5th wheel full time. I knew this company has been in this valley for years so I thought they would be a honest company. Boy, was I wrong. They are charging $4.99 a gallon and when I called other companies they are charging $2.99!!. Plus they tack on another $10 a fee used to train their employees..they decide if you are a will call customer which is another $15 fee!!. So you are charged $30 on top of propane charge. I don't know how this company gets away with it!! read more

Great service and good prices. It's better to refill your propane tanks than going to a retail store and exchanging your old empty tank for a new, filled one. There has been widespread fraud where those tanks are not filled to the level the stores are charging for. Better to reuse your tank and pay only for what goes inside. read more

DO NOT SUPPORT THESE GOUGERS!!! These are NOT the only guys in the valley who re-cert tanks. These guys force you to fill up the tank at $3+/gal, after a $15/tank re-cert fee. I asked if I had the option NOT to get the tanks refilled, and the gal said "no, that's part of the service. We are here to sell propane"...service...really??? what a line of crap!! No, you are here to gouge customers. Ed Staub and Sons in Nampa (461-4556) are a much better option: $7.50 to recertify and they do not require you to refill. But their propane is only $1.50/gal right now, so that's really a great price. The best price is out @ Bretz RV @ $0.99/gal. read more

If I could give them a zero star I would. Went in to have RV propane tank certified. Price for that was the standard $15.00. In order to certify they require you to fill the tank at 3.60 per gallon. If you want to buy a new tank, they also require you to fill it before they will sell it to you. For everyone looking to purchase propane for RV tanks, there is an RV dealer on Broadway Ave in Boise that beats the per gallon price hands down. Unfortunately they do not certify tanks. read more

Started an agreement with Suburban 1 1/2 years ago at a good price. A year into the account with them the price MORE than doubled. Apparently we didn't quite reach their quota for volume over the year. Upon researching we discovered we could buy their propane from a local store for much less than directly from them. We pulled their tank and started a new account with another local company for nearly half the price of Suburban. We called them to have them pick up their tank and regulator we rented and they were supposed to pick it up within 30 days. 35 days later I called them again. They have no record of it of course. Now they are charging a $100.00 pick up fee. They are absolutely terrible about more money, more money, more money. I will always discourage anyone from using Suburban Propane. I will even look elsewhere to fill our small bottles for other things. Sorry to the local folks selling Suburban products! read more

These guys did us a solid and would not hesitate to head back for all my propane needs. We recently picked up a RV and were planning a family road trip. The night before we left I noticed a propane leak, along with a bunch of other issues. I was up late working to get the leak fixed and thought I had it, but the morning we were to leave, sure enough, still leaking. Headed over there on the way out of town to see what they could do. Not only did they drop everything to help me out, but as my kids were being wrangled by my wife in there office, they allowed them to be kids who were excited about going on a road trip. Truly excellent customer service in my experience and great knowledge. read more

I'm very disappointed with their bait and switch tactic when I went to get my tanks recertified. I dropped off two 7 gallon propane tanks at the Franklin Road location in Boise. The cost is to recertify is $15 each. They put my name on the tags and then told me they will be available to pick up a day later, which I thought was fine. As I was walking away, I turned back to the representative and asked him how much they charge a gallon for propane. He replied with $3.69/gal. I said to him to please not fill the tanks and that I will fill them up on my own. That is when he said he cannot certify them without filling up the tanks. He stated they need to make money and filling the tanks is necessary to achieve this. I argued a bit with him saying I filled up my tanks in the fall at the U-Haul on Chinden in Garden City for about $1.40 less per gallon. He then boasted saying he supplies U-Haul with propane. Why the heck would he tell me that??? What a Richard!!! I told him he gouging customers, but he didn't seem to care. I also told him that he should have told me right up front that they require the tanks to be filled. Better yet they should have raised the recertification price and gave the customer a choice whether to fill the tanks. I felt like he was pulling the ole BAIT AND SWITCH. Next time I am NOT using these guys. They have lost my business. read more

I first became acquainted with Suburban in the winter of 2014/2015, and after my first winter of dealing with them, I decided we really did not need to deal with their inflated prices, poor customer service and price gouging. They were consistently .50 to 1.00 a gallon more than anyone else that delivers in this area. I told them they needed to come get their tank because I really was not going to do business with them anymore. In the meantime their truck had showed up, and refilled the tank, so when I made the call I was informed they charge 1.00 per gallon to remove the unused propane. And that was even with them taking the propane and selling it to someone else. The So I used alternative heating in the two following winters. While trying to decide what to do with the dilemma. In November of 2017 we decided the best thing to do was just use up what was there and have them come get the stupid thing. Our intent was to replace the propane furnace with a wood stove. But my son decided he liked to be able to just turn it on, and if it was not too expensive he would just continue on with Suburban. I called them and asked them to put us on their next time through our area for a delivery. In the meantime I had called Ed Staub to see what they charged, and they were very reasonable, starting at 2.42 per gallon and with two additional discounts available. When Suburban showed up to fill the tank, I was informed it would be 4.99 per gallon! An absolute insult to my intelligence! Their customer service rep rep said "Well what did you expect after not ordering any gas since Feb 2015?". So they have truly lived up to my expectations, they were crap when I left them, and they are still crap! read more

If you are looking for large tanks (like the kind you would need to heat your house) DO NOT use these guys. They will give you a free tank, lock you into a lifelong contract and the sell you gas at 30-40% above market rate. Don't fall for it. These guys are scam artists. read more

Awful! I was forced to use Suburban Propane to fill my tank as I am renting and it is their tank. I am in the process of purchasing a house and asked to pay cash and that I did not want them to run my credit. They told me that I had to provide my social security number even though I was paying cash. I resisted and then refused to sell me propane until I provided it. The representative told me to write "cash account" and promised my credit would not be pulled. They pulled my credit anyway. The other major issue is that when they delivered propane, my gauge did not reflect the 100 gallons that I ordered, i.e. I have a 500 gallon tank and when I ordered 100 gallons my gauge should have increased by 20%. It only increased by 15% for three consecutive orders. I called and they said to "tap the gauge" which I did making no change. read more
