I absolutely could not feel any worse about this company and I am going to switch propane companies for these reasons: The administrative staff is unreachable by telephone as I have literally been trying to reach someone over there for weeks. In times past when I have reached people that physically work inside this Concord location they have been rude, condescending and did not assist with my concerns. The manager Jim told me he would call me back weeks ago to address over charges but has not. I have repeatedly requested a call back to discuss billing no avail. I have been overcharged (that I am aware of) for over 5 months to the tune of hundreds of dollars. I requested an inspection to address the over charging (due to a leaky propane pipe) and it was not found and the administrative staff accused me of simply consuming more propane. One positive: Norman, a service tech who works there is a solid guy and found the leak within 10 minutes of being called there. I will also be filing a complaint with the Better Business Burea. The Suburban Propane, Concord Office is not a group you want to spend your hard earned money with. read more

I knew he wasnt going to do anything when he pulled in my driveway....and he didnt...made one excuse after another about why he couldnt do anything to help us, couldnt help us if he didnt know the part number, i found the part number, still couldnt unless he knew the gas logs serial number, i found the serial number, it didnt have a tag on the logs, i found the tag on the logs...he eventually said he needed to call in and ask. I have been a customer for over 15 years. I contacted them for an estimate for a new tank installation. They only come to Lakeland on Tuesdays so I made an appointment two weeks in advance for Tuesday, October 15. I was told I would be contacted about a time. When I didn't hear from them by 11:00 on Tuesday, I was told there was an emergency and the usual person would not be coming but some one else would be there. Needless to say no one came and no one called. We waited all day with no call from them. My husband took the day off from work to meet them and no one bothered to contact him. Let me start off by saying that Suburban Propane is a huge PITA to deal with. I was warned by several people (when I say several I mean seven) not to deal with them and they have horrible service. Now... two years ago I got a pig tank from them for the sole purpose of heating my garage where I store my classic cars. It took a couple weeks for them to get the tank to my house. Then, when they set it, they use self tapping screws and screwed the regulator to the side of my garage. I think his name was Josh, he was a little smart a$$. Before I could use it it leaked out all the gas at the valve. They came out, replace the valve, and replace the gas that leaked out minus about 2% (First screwin). When I signed up 2 years ago there was no tank rental fee as long as you had one fill a year. I knew that this would not be a problem because I would probably need it filled a couple times a year. I got it filled and they still charged me a $10 fee for tank rental. I spoke to Dee and she stated the "higher-ups" voted to add on a $10 fee even if you have one fill a year. If you don't fill it once a year it's $50. I know this because they charged me $50 fee even though I asked them to fill it. I told them if the can get their head out of there to stick the take up their a$$. Fast forward to today 08/27/2019. Andy Scott came to pick up the tank. He was very nice and apologetic. They did not warn me they were coming. I had to move two vehicles that had been sitting there for a month. I spoke to Dee again and she said that I would be charged $125 fee to have the 35% of the gas removed. I then asked to talk to Ed and he told me that the $125 fee was for a Hazmat permit to transport a tank above 5% which is a total lie. (I spoke to the state police) He then stated he would waive the $125 fee. We will see. I will update this when everything is done. Andy said just forget about taking the regulator because it would leave holes in the side of my barn and one of my cars was in the way. Again what a big freakin joke. This is by far one of the worst companys I have ever delt with. We will see how much money I get refunded and will post how bad they screw me. read more

Don't use this company - horrible service. They installed a tank with a broken gage and we never know how much gas we have left in the tank. After almost 16 months no satisfaction. Plus they never leave a receipt when they deliver so you have no records they just expect you to pay a bill when you get it in the mail. I have never done business with such a horrible company. OMG! They have been my propane service for 10 years and they let me run out again! It has happened so many times I can't believe it! It's their job! You'd think they'd want to stop by and check so they can sell me more propane. I thought we finally got straightened out. They had me on a schedule to fill it up every 2 months. Had an appointment to fill our tank, but my husband had chest pain so I took him to the ER. I totally forgot about the appointment. Suburban Propane still came out, but because we didn't answer the door when they knocked, they proceeded to break our gate (it sometimes sticks) to get access to the back yard. No note or anything! When we got home we put 2 and 2 together and contacted the company. They said they would take care of the repair to our gate, but it's been 2 weeks and we haven't had contact from anyone. Worst company I have ever had to deal with! I would have given them negative stars. I have been with them for 15 years and pay monthly $225 and have NEVER missed, but they turned me into collections because they wanted their entire balance paid by March. Threaten to lock my tank. I scraped up an entire payment and made them happy. Well, I requested fuel over a week ago and NO TRUCK! I am out of fuel and freezing my butt off. Fees, fees and more fees. Their prices are universally higher than any of their competitors with a LOT of add on fees. Hazmat fees, tank rental fees, fees to come out and check a licensed contractor's work ($40 for four seconds of eyeballing the connections) Of course they don't tell you about all these fees upfront. But they are very happy to tell you about the so-called "propane shortage." They also do not operate on a net10, or net30 day billing plan. So you end up getting a huge bill due upon receipt. Beware of this company. I signed up with United Propane two and half years ago and requested them to change my account to as needed basis instead of automatic delivery. When Suburban propane took over united propane, I called them to check my account and they said everything is same as previous. For past two and half years I have getting propane upon request until yesterday when they filled up my tank without any request and left me a bill of $2300. I called them to complain and they said my account is set on automatic fill. If my account is an automatic delivery, how come in pasy 2.5 yrs no automatic delivery was performed?? Customer service rep was very rude. I requested to speak to a manager and I have not heard anything back from them yet. This company sucks.. Very unprofessional and dishonest company...I never chose Suburban, however, they recently acquired a company that used to provide our propane. I usually don't write reviews, but feel the people who currently use Suburban or plan to, should know that they will do everything to rip you off. My dissatisfaction began when they suddenly showed up at my house in July to fill my tanks. Since I only use propane for heat, I was a bit baffled as to why. The best part, the propane was $4.06/ gal. Most people who are on an "as need" plan like I was know that propane prices plummet near the begining of the winter months and MOST companies offer a reduced rate to fill your tanks. Not Suburban, they show up when prices are exceptionally high. When I called them, they offered a $0.15 a gallon refund. Really!? I finally accepted the refund and asked that they come and get the tanks as soon as possible and refund me for the gas in the tanks. I even agreed to a service fee and a reduced rate on my return. I was fine with this since I found a new local company that offered a capped rate at $2.25/gal. I spoke with Suburban in August of 2014... Never heard from them, no one came to the house to extract the propane and no one contacted me. Ultimately, we used most of the propane in the tanks and had the new company install their tanks in November 2014. I decided to move the tanks out of my back yard and behind my shed, thinking someday they will show up and ask for them. Today December 26th, 2014, 5 months later, I see a Suburban truck drive up my driveway, a guy gets out, walks over to the tanks, rolls them on his flat bed and is about to pull away when I walked out the door and asked, "why didn't they come get them sooner"...he said, " I don't know" and drove away. No knock on the door, no letter or phone call saying they were coming...nothing! Very unprofessional and to be honest pretty pathetic. I would stay away from their services if I were you. read more

This company's been nothing but trouble. I make appointments to get propane delivered and the company doesn't show up on that day; worse, I am the one calling and asking why the delivery wasn't made. They say they are running behind and will get to it tomorrow. This has happened multiple times and it usually takes about 2 weeks of calling them non-stop to get my delivery. The real killer is that they charge my credit card for the delivery on the planned day so then I'm out hundred of dollars wondering if and when my propane will arrive. Save yourself the headache and go with one of the other many propane companies in the Santa Fe area. read more

If I could give no stars I would. Horrible company to deal with, they overcharge astronomically for those who do not use a large amount of gas. They charged over double what the other local companies did do to the fact that we don't use enough. Why would anyone want to pay the same amount for something that someone else uses double the product. They did not make a special trip to deliver to our house, they are already on the route to deliver to the area. They also charge a yearly rental fee for the tank. After paying the rental and the higher prices, they also want a huge fee to come and remove their tank. Their excuses are ridiculous. read more

I was trying to installing an 'Extend-A-Stay' tee in the propane line of my RV. The connections were completely foreign to me as well as the hardware store. I took my problem to Suburban and Charles furnished the solution. The price was more than reasonable and the tee is now installed and working. Do Not...I repeat Do Not EVER use these people! We had a tank delivered installed incorrectly and then over filled SO much that it was letting off what sounded like gun shots with puffs of black smoke!!! We had to call the fire department just incase our house got the side blown out of it. When they arrive the fire station folks just like the lady I spoke with at Suburban propane laughed because and I understand that some tanks will let off some pressure if over filled. They laughed untill one of the fire fighters walked over to the tank and the explosion literally knocked him on his ass! But of course when I called Suburban the lady laughed and called me a liar and that it never happened. So I told then to come get the tank and refund us our money. Not only did they not refund us our money they asked us to pay and additional 60$ that aparently was left over from the initial hook up! Now answer me this why would they have even came and put gas in it if I hadn't paid the full amount owed already!!?? So now they've sent me to collections for 60$ for a job that was poorly done, a tank that was over filled and connect improperly because a propane tank should not let off black smoke and now they want to ruin my credit. WTF I mean really what in the actual fuck??? I was literally worried that my house along with my daughter that was in the yard was gonna get blown away and the laughed, said it never happend and then are still trying to fuck me by taking me to collections for 60$. After paying more than twice the going rate we had enough and let our tank run empty. They charge you is they have to remove gas from the tank to pick it up. After having them drop their tank at my house and had it filled I called them a few months later to check to see how much gas prices were. She told me 2.29 per gallon because I don't go though enough gas. Told them to I would be looking around for a new company and she didn't' even try to keep me as a customer. Called and told them to come get their tank and it still sat on my property for another 3 months and they just finally came to get it. Looked at my bill and they charged me another year rental and a pick-up fee. So, all the gas I had left in the tank went back to them and didn't get credit for it. Was disputing a minimal fee delivery charge and asked to see the signed contract I apparently signed, they sent me a contract and it looked like Mickey Mouse signed it. It was not my signature nor was it dated. When I called to tell them to send me my contract that i signed i was told ok i will look into it but was lied to because the very next day they came and took the tank away. Who in the world would agree to paying for something they don't need/get. Customer services response was we need to make money. How are we supposed to do that if people don't get fuel?? I could kick myself for not switching to a different propane provider years ago. Suburban plainly overcharges (the propane industry is not regulated in California). When the tank fill-ups were getting financially unmanageable, I opted for their monthly payment program; they charged me $300/mo which I thought was quite high but decided to try. At the same time our household changed our propane usage by no longer turning on the forced air gas heater. We live in a moderate climate and are dressing more warmly when it's cold. This past summer they sent me a notification increasing the monthly charge to $450/mo. That's unbelievable and unacceptable. I immediately switched to a local independent propane provider (Pacific Propane) who not only removed Suburban's aging and uncared-for tank (putting it roadside where Suburban could pick it up), they also installed a clean modern tank with a satellite meter which will report the propane level (and allow me to see the usage online!). Our usage is now averaging a little over $100/mo this fall/winter, and that includes occasional usage of the forced air heater. I expect our summer usage to be even less. A side note: this week I received a letter by mail announcing that Suburban is settling outside of court a class action suit that was brought against them. You may imagine my glee! read more

I am a commercial customer of Suburban Propane located in CT. I have approximately 25 of their tanks on my property & spend close to $4000 on propane annually. From an operations and administrative perspective, they are the most inept company I have ever dealt with. Their pricing practices are dishonest (tried to jam me with 90% price increase year over year and finally backed off when they realized I was taking my business elsewhere). Their bills are inaccurate and their Finance organization could care less about the customer. They have caused my business enormous distraction over the past 5 months with countless billing errors followed up with heavy handed calls from credit & collections. The only reason I stay with this company is that their local service team is fantastic and have done their best to make up for the shortfalls in their corporate office. read more

i am an have been a customer for years by force , my land lord uses this company with a large propane tank for the whole apartment complex... i would have chosen a different company given the chance. some issues I've encountered with this company are: 1. late billing... really late so that u are sure to get a late fee every time.. i called an had them change the billing so it would stop the late fees an i could get my mail in payment in on time ( they do not offer Internet pay options) for 2 months after i received bills on time an once again this month they have started sending bills late again... 2. the technician who comes to read the meters always mixes up mine for my neighbors who has a family of 4 so i have gotten a bill in my name for the wrong meter an the wrong amount several times.... a quick call to the office to ask for my real total an make a complaint again will usually resolve that temporarily 3. they like to make their own prices for the propane per gallon an will bill you without notice of this change. some months lower an some higher. 4. i was a customer for over a year by the time i had first gotten my propane shut off, no call no notice... just oh u missed a payment, whats that u never received a bill.. well u have been shut off and now there's a 200 $ deposit just to get reinstated its a new policy i was told when i spoke to the receptionist... the actual manager of the company, nick or Erick never bothered to speak with me on any of the issues i was having its a simple u pay for it , or you don't get it attitude no sorrys no customer service at all really. sad ! i could give you some more instances and go on an on about their terrible service but i hope this may give the public an idea about how crooked they're running business these days. read more
