I can't believe there aren't more negative reviews regarding this company! Where I live, it is the only propane company around. We use them to fill our tanks for our pool heater which is only about 3 months out of the year. They charge ridiculous rates because they know that you're not going to get anyone else. They sent an ad for a "budget plan" which said "$50 off you're first fill" if you signed up. What they didn't tell you, is that they will continue to charge you $12, even after you pay off your bill for the season, "to maintain the budget plan". If you want to opt out of the budget plan, you have to pay back the $50! I consider this false advertisement! So, because we use the pool only 3 months/year, and are paying the extra 12 bucks, they are actually making an additional 46 bucks from us-to sign up for a budget plan! Proceed with caution with this company. Also, you could never get anyone on the phone, the line is always busy! Their hours are 8:30-5 but don't count on anyone answering after 4:30! read more

Horrible company tanks start to leak , they come out multiple times then try to charge for leaked propane. Fire Marshall eventually had to come out make them change faulty old valves then leaks stopped . Still fighting with this company had to get legal counsel... read more

I found out they were charging me double the going rate. My sister was charged $2.40. Per gallon and I got charged $5.00 per gallon. Needless to say I was furious when I told them I was going to change companies they told me there would be a large charge to empty and remove my tank. What an awful company, I should report them to the attorney general of my state. read more

I would give them zero stars if I could!! We bought our home in Lake Havasu Az 7 years ago. The sellers had used suburban and we stayed with the same company. I know propane prices fluctuate but we had not had any problem prior so when I called to have my tank filled I did not ask the price per gallon. It took them over a month to bring me propane which they had made me aware of. I got my bill and they charged me $6.399 a gallon plus the sales tax. My prior ppg was $1.99 plus sales tax. I called around to several other places and they all thought that was crazy. The highest price I found was $2.05. So I thought maybe it was a mistake but it was not. I think they just wanted the customers in our area to quit using them. We also rent our tank from them which I had just paid as well for the year. I told them to come get their tank and we would be switching companies. They took almost two months to come get their tank. We did not want to use $7 a gallon propane so we unhooked the tank. It's not that cold in Havasu but we were cold without heat. I kept calling them to come get it but I kept getting a run around. Then I received my statement in which they charged me two different fees for pumping out the tank. They charged a fee of $135 which they told me is charged by the amount of time it takes to pump it out and then they charged me .75 a gallon plus sales and municipal taxes for each gallon they pumped out. I have a credit balance because it was full and I just paid over $7 a halo to fill it. Now it has been two months that they have owed me the refund. I called them again today and they said it will be another two weeks before my refund is processed!!! They will not refund the $75 I paid for the tank rental not even prorated for the months I had left. I told them they need to pay me interest and fees and of course they won't be doing that. This company is the worst!!! We purchased a home where the previous owner was already using Suburban Propane. We immediately had new paperwork and an account set up in our name. We hired them to come out and run new lines to our outdoor fireplace and fire pit the week of Thanksgiving 2017. We received and paid for 3 full tank deliveries for the month of December. However, on January 1st we receive a bill (with a late charge) for a delivery in November 2017. Not ever receiving a delivery ticket and knowing we never received this delivery, we requested a delivery ticket. One month later, after calling multiple times and requesting a call from the Manager, we were told "you received the gas and you have to pay". I again asked for a delivery ticket proving gas was delivered and was told they could not find one but that did not mean we didn't have to pay. I told them I would pay the bill, get with a new propane company and call them back when we were ready for them to pick up their tank. They showed up the following day to pick up our tank that was half full of gas we paid for, not to mention leaving us with no heat in the middle of winter. Luckily I immediately went to Amicalola Propane and they were able to deliver a tank and propane the very next day. We should have switched to them in the very beginning but we were trying to keep things simple. We spent 680.00 with Suburban Propane in one month's time. The bill we were disputing was for 160.00 and all we were asking for was proof they delivered the gas. It was very shady of them to come and pick up our half full tank without any notice after all the money we had spent. The customer service is terrible and Management is poorly running this company. STAY AWAY!!! read more

Office staff forgets that you call to tell them you are out of gas, then blames the customer for not calling. Let them know when I received a bill that I was waiting on a check and would be over paying them when the check arrived which would leave me with a credit balance on account. They could have cared less, would not work with me in the least, came and shut my propane off. told them I have a 3 year old at home and they could have cared less that it is 40 degrees and there is a 3 year old in this home. customer service NEEDS WORK...to say the least...they need to write notes, not blame the customer, show some compassion. Never had service so bad and would not sign my worst enemy up with this joke of a company. read more

Perhaps the most incompetent company I've encountered. I canceled my account with them over a year ago because they forgot to deliver and I ran out of gas. I was told then that I owed them nothing. I had no contact at all with them since. This evening I came home to find my propane tank mysteriously locked and my gas turned off. No notice anywhere of who did it. After several irate calls I learned that Suburban Propane locked it because they wanted money. Of course, they NEVER asked for it or made any attempt to contact me. I had a very heated conversation with them and they agreed I owed nothing and removed the lock. Now I'm worried what they will do next. Stay as far away from them as possible! read more

Suburban Propane abuses seniors, they are one of the lowest life companies I have had as a vendor... with the going rate of Propane in the $2.00-$2.50 range, they have been gouging the Seniors in our community for $4.40g this winter, they have been running their trucks around keeping the tanks full so that these poor customers cannot change to reasonably priced companies. They take advantage of the people in our community, by raising the rates when they are locked in with winter weather and cannot switch to another vendor. Shameful practice. Currently they are charging more then double the rate of their competitors. Dont ever do business with this company or people. With one citizen who had a broken pipe they kept coming and filling the tank even though they knew it was leaking, what a racket these guys run. They are the worst kind of people and business. When on of the citizens couldnt pay his bill because they were charging double, they came and turned his propane off and locked up the tank. He had no heat and several feet of snow outside in winter. read more
