WARNING: SCAM COMPANY We switched from Suburban to Farrelgas almost 2 years ago. Suburban picked up their tanks and that was that. Now yesterday for some random reason after 2 years of no deliveries, Suburban comes out and "tops up" ANOTHER COMPANY'S propane tanks in the middle of June. Completely at random and for no reason. Now I get a surprise bill of $129. Wtf is going on here? What sort of business model is that? Stay the hell away from this company. read more

If you want to be lied to about when your paid-for LP supply will be delivered, choose Suburban Propane. If you want horrible customer service, choose Suburban Propane. If you want to pay too much and still get poor service, choose Suburban Propane. I implore any neighbors in Yates County NY, if you have a choice still to make regarding your LP service provider, please think long and hard before you select Suburban Propane. We have put up with high prices, lousy service, and lackadaisical responsiveness to questions and concerns for 3 years now and this is our last. We will be finding a new service provider in 2025.... ZERO STARS! I was a customer for 7 years. The customer service sucks. They aren't forthcoming with their fees. I ran out of contracted gallons last winter and had to get a fill at current rate. I was told the rate was $3.01. Received the bill and was charged $3.01 for partial gallons and then $6.99 for the remaining. Sent me a bill for almost $900!!! What a joke!! Switched after that. Tank still had 75% left. Should have received at least $500 back but after all their "fees" I ended up with only $80 back. Good riddance! Spend your money elsewhere read more

I've been in Penn Yan for 10 years and have had occasion to need propane tank refills about 4 times. I've yet been able to get any assistance from this location. Today I when I arrived the sign said open and the hours were posted indicating they should be open. The lights were on but once again no one around to assist. read more

This company is not reliable for deliveries, and then came up with 101 reason why when you run out of propane. My parents have done business with this company for years, and always kept their account paid in full. In the last year, they have let them run out of propane twice. When they ran out the first time, it was set up for a delivery every 3 months, instead of 5 months, so they could be sure they wouldn't run out. That worked after the first 3 months. Now, they are in the same predicament, out of propane. They haven't delivered in 5 months. When I called to tell them the tank was empty, they blamed it on their drivers. I guess it's up to the drivers to do the scheduling of deliveries? When I did call them yesterday, I was informed there would be an emergency fee charged if they brought me out a delivery then, because we don't heat with it. Thank God for that! The lady told me she would call me back and let me know if she could get them on the next days delivery schedule, still haven't heard back! So in the meantime, no warm cooked meal, no shower, and no dry clean clothes. The prices they charge, along with the different fees they charge for this and that, the extra charge they have to pay to have someone come and light the hot water tank is getting rediculous. These are disabled senior citizens! Need to get a new company ASAP. A 1 star rating is to high. read more

Suburban is charging me $2.86 more per gallon than what the Weekly Propane Prices are listed by the US Energy Information Administration for the week my propane was delivered. I have wanted to change this company ever since I had them, but they make it so difficult to do. They charge you $1+ a gallon to take back the unused propane, and all sorts of other fees, so I would just not bother. I am tired of them robbing me, so I will use up this fuel oil and get another supplier, because they are crooks. My cost for the propane should have been around $275.35 but Suburban Propane charged me $577.38. More than double what the US Energy Information Administration says the cost should be. Don't go with these crooks. Like Tomas B said in his review, "This company is one of the most disgusting outfits I have done business with." I would give them no star if I could. read more

This company is one of the most disgusting outfits I have done business with. They will start you off with a great deal per gallon for your first delivery of propane. The next delivery will be much higher per gallon AND they will add a transportation charge AND a safety charge, about $4.60 and $10.00 each. AND, they stated to me they do this on every delivery!!! Check with Homestead propane in Penn Yan - they claim they never do anything so obnoxious. Well, the crooks at Suburban delivered a lousy 31 gallons to me in the middle of summer AND nearly doubled the price per gallon from $2.599 per gallon in May to $4.9188 per gallon (plus the 2 fees) just 2 months later. At the same time Homestead quoted me just $1.89 per gallon for a prepay customer. Bottom line, do not do business with the crooks at Suburban. They are absolutely crooked and need to be put out of business. The problem is that the Albany bureaucrats do not have enough smarts to regulate these crooks. AND, wait until you see their so called contract they try to get you to sign - read carefully - it is not really a contract - it is an agreement NOT TO SUE these bums if they screw up at any time for any reason. You can use an arbitrator. That's it folks! Check it out! Cancel your business with these crooks - put them out of business where they belong. Raise cain with the state for allowing these crooks to get away with everything and anything. I guarantee you no electric or natural gas company could possibly even try to do what these propane companies do. They need regulation. read more
