I would give him zero if I could I went online to order a refill for my propane tank for my stove and they were quoting me $8.39 per gallon which is a total rip off when everybody else is charging $4 and lower per gallon they're twice the price I saw Ferrell gas for $3.49 plus they charged me $100 a year rental fee can't afford to get another tank from somebody else so I'll stick with the suburban gas tank but definitely get my refills elsewhere all there in the business for is ripping people off. That's absolute highway robbery to get my tank filled it's at 45% it would cost me more than $250 to get about 25 to 30 gallons they should be ashamed of them selfs this is 100% price gouging. read more

Had Phil and Justin Out to my house today to connect my gas pool heater as well as switch out a plastic tank cover with a concrete one. Both gentlemen were professional and courteous even thought they had to work in the pouring rain. I have been very unhappy with Suburban Propane because of their pricing. You never how much they are going to charge and the price is always going UP UP UP. We have a large tank and now they are charging more than $6 per gallon to fill it. We never know when they are going to come. They show up and leave a bill, charging us whatever they want. We need to switch to a different service but it means digging up the tank etc. All I can say is do NOT use Suburban if you have any other choice. read more

Suburban Propane - 6991 15th St. E, Sarasota I have been a Suburban Propane customer since 1988. Anytime I have had an issue, it was taken care of in a timely manner. I just got a new water heater and because my old one was no longer made, I had to get a different model. Bert went out of his way to install it even though it took some extra steps on his part as he had to rework some of the fittings. He also took the time to check all my other gas appliances before he left. He was efficient, cordial and caring. Dori in Customer Service is a delight. She had great empathy about my problem and made sure it was taken care of as soon as possible. I love all my gas appliances AND Suburban Propane! read more

I am a will call customer but they came in August and delivered 20 gallons, the total cost was $138.31. They said because we don't use much per year, we have to pay more per gallon. I've been using suburban for years and have come to realize just how expensive they are for propane home delivery. They have every excuse in the book for why they charge more (aka overcharge more). They should be cheaper with the buying power they have. Making the switch to a local company and they should be reported for price gouging! Check prices before you buy from them. read more

It is unfortunate there are not more propane gas companies to choose from because Suburban leaves much to be desired regarding customer relations and satisfaction. This is based upon landscape damage induced by disrespectful delivery personel, communicative incompetence over at the reception desk resulting in misrepresentation of refund amounts and management anable and unwilling to provide documentable phone record support to sustain and defend their misrepresentation errors even when approached through the BBB. BEWARE PEOPLE! THIS COMPANY IS PRICE GOUGING!!!! Staying at an RV Park and signed up for propane. Suburban Propane delivered and we got a bill from our park for 20.2 gallons at $7.08 per gallon. Bill totaled $168.29!! I just got off the phone with them and she says we don't deliver to RV's. Funny but I have a picture of your truck in front of our rig. This is absurd!!! $7.08 per gallon!!! If I could give a -1 I would. I moved here to Sarasota in Oct. 2020 and just kept the propane service associated with the property I purchased, which is Suburban Propane. It has been nothing but a nightmare ever since. Now this is March 3, 2021 and for the second time I'm about out of gas because their customer service is terrible!! When I ran out in January 2021 my assigned representative from Suburban promised me he'd put me on a 2 month auto refill instead of a 3 month but that never happened and so since it's 2 months (within a day or two) and I hadn't heard from them I checked the gauge on my tank and it is as far below the 10% in the red as you can go. If I tried to use my gas water heater, cook stove or clothes dryer I'd run out for sure. So in dealing with the local service they are rude, don't really seem to care and this is Wed and when I called to last night to report the situation I had to talk to the central call system because it was after hours, they took down the info and sent it to the local station, which the local girl had in front of her and she still didn't care that I am almost out, her reply was "maybe" we can get someone out there by FRIDAY! So I called the corporate office and told them why I am today arranging for Detweiler's here in Sarasota to take over and be my propane gas supplier as soon as it can be arranged. So bad attitude, HORRIBLE customer service and I just hope I don't run out before Suburban can at least get here to put gas in my tank. Until they do that I'll not be using my hot water, stove or clothes dryer! I am officially done with Suburban!!! read more

As you can see I rarely make any comments on yelp regarding any businesses. However, suburban propane was contacted this morning to research on propane tanks needed for a portable generator. The lady that answered the phone this morning was extremely rude! I actually hit the prompt for new customers. In doing that you think that they would have some sort of a polite, or Customer service oriented receptionist.She treated me as though I was a second-class citizen in asking questions and humbly confessing that I am new to Bradenton. She took it upon herself to learn me on the fact that they would never help out anyone who was associated with a portable generator in delivering any propane tanks. Very rude! Wow. read more

Everything was great until the final install bill. My fault for not looking at the small zeros that looked to be purposely made to look like cents. An extra $1350 I wasn't expecting. Just so you know what you might be getting into, my total bill to install a tank and run the gas line was $4727.12. Buyer beware. Get other quotes. read more

This is the second time that this company has delivered propane without my permission! And the price has increased to $6 from $4 in February! When I called to complain, the agent denied that I had previously instructed them on TWO occasions not to deliver without my specific request. Although she offered a price adjustment, it was to the prevous rate. Only when I told them to come and pump it out did they concede. This is just awful service. read more

I had an appointment with a service technician for a Thursday afternoon to determine if my pool heater was operating inefficiently. The technician instead came by on Wednesday afternoon when no one was home, spent 15 minutes at the house and left a note saying the spa pump must be on for the spa heater to function. I knew that, and he did not address the problem nor meet with me to discuss the situation. He also left an invoice for $95. I called customer service to protest the charge. I talked to 2 different representatives, both of whom could not understand the problem. Finally, I was brushed off with the promise that the manager would call me. He/she didn't. read more

They are very rude, constantly change their rates and charge much higher than the national average and generally treat their customers with contempt because they know they have a monopoly. I just discontinue my service with Suburban Propane and found out that they do not give refunds. WHAT? We only have a hot water heater running off the tank, so I know our tank is over half full. I was told that any refund would be between myself and the new people going into the home. They also told me that they could come and remove the tank, but would charge us $150 plus $1 per gallon to pump it out. What a rip off company. I was told that this is in our contract. Beware of this company. If you owe them money they will cut off your services, but when they owe you money it is o'well sorry about your luck. Do not use this company. They also jack up your price on your propane hoping you will not check your bill. I have had to call multiple times about their prices. This is the worst company I have ever had the miss fortune to come in contact with. Do not use them. read more
