5 STAR PACK . . . 1 STAR DELIVERY Suburban touts themselves as "NOT BEING A BROKER." Our experience is that this is not true. Although it may be true locally, it is obviously not true of a long distance move. The quality of the move is at the driver's discretion once it leaves Colorado. The delivery is brokered in that the employees at the shipping end are not employees of Suburban. After a rather exemplary job of packing our household goods for our move from Colorado to Tennessee, it was truly a disaster at the time of delivery. A summary of issues are as follows: * There was not enough delivery staff to unload the truck which resulted in approximately 16 hours of unloading over two days (initial packing and loading in Colorado had taken approximately 8 hours) * Five people packed and loaded (one household in Colorado), three people unloaded two households in Tennessee (Suburban knowingly included our daughter's 2-bedroom townhouse household goods in the delivery in Tennessee). Probably six people were needed, if not more. * The semi-driver was rude and showed little concern for our delivery or inconvenience. He contracted with the delivery crew for 3-4 hours of unloading the semi at $100 each (obviously that is his privilege but considering the amount of work was extremely unethical). We personally paid them $50 each to insure their return on the day following their initial 12-hour day. * The delivery crew were three guys who responded to the driver's ad on Craigslist the morning of delivery and were not company employees (had no moving experience, no background checks). We don't want just anyone knowing what is in our home, and the assumption is that we are paying for moving expertise. * We paid extra to have our piano crated (really it was just a little extra boxing and padding, not crating). The equipment necessary (a four-wheel dolly) to have it moved into our home was not available to get it into the house and we had to participate with the movers to manhandle it in. * The driver rudely balked at the receipt of a certified check for payment at the time of delivery. Because of the amount of household goods, weight of items, etc. the delivery crew was physically overwhelmed and exhausted which resulted in: * Only large furniture items were placed in the house (some yet remain in the garage) * Most of the boxes were placed in the garage (we had to bring them into the house ourselves-this is two story house and the boxes were numerous (about 45) and heavy; we spent a day and a-half doing this). Suburban claims this is a standard practice. No where in their contract is this stated. * Although the furniture items had been well packed in Colorado the packing was removed to get some items into the house (this for the most part was due to the strength of the movers being expended) resulting in some furniture scrapes, dings, and marring of walls. * The delivery crew was not aware of the fact that contractually the setup of all furniture was required: tables, beds, mirrors on dressers, etc. The semi driver, knowing this, did not share it with the delivery crew. Therefore we had to do all the setup and restoration ourselves.Suburban claimed that setup is complimentary. AVOID at all costs - completely taken aback by the positive reviews because my experience has been anything but positive. Lost over $5,000 worth of my belongings and are reimbursing me less than $200 for them. Up until I paid, great service. Once they got my money, everything went down the drain. The delivery was a nightmare - almost 12 hours later than they told me they'd show up (at 11pm on a work night), the movers were rude and complaining the whole time. I spoke with the Ops Manager about this and he was very understanding. He told me he'd speak to the claims department and they would get a claim filed about this. Next day, I realized I was missing a box that had all of my clothes in it. I immediately called the movers and they did not have it on their truck. Talked to the ops manager again, he was very understanding again and told me he's relay the info to the claims department. The rep from the claims department took almost a week to get back to me about this, and let me know of the next steps in trying to find the box. It took them about another week to search the warehouse, where they did not find the box. They then reached out to everyone on the same shipment as me (which took another 3 weeks, after they told me it would take 2). During this time, I had already written up a review for them here. Immediately, the next day, they called me asking me to take down the review. They said based on the claims documents, they ask you not to write reviews until after everything has been settled (mind you, I had not received any of these documents they were referencing). They said the damage control they have to do when someone posts a bad review is unfair, and would be unfair at this point in my experience to share with the world. At this point, scared I am going to receive lesser service if I keep my review up, I deleted it. After 3 more weeks, I had to reach back out to claims, to be met with "Oh, yes I was planning on calling you later today!" Long story short, they don't have my box, people aren't responding to their calls, and we're at the point of officially filing the claim now. Of course there's a chance it might magically pop up somewhere in the future at which point if the person is nice enough to actually report it and send it back to them, I could actually get it back. After all of this back and forth for about a month, they finally tell me that they're reimbursing me next to nothing because I didn't purchase protection insurance against them losing my belongings. After "maximizing" the amount that they ever reimburse people, all in all less than $200 to replace my entire wardrobe. I almost expected some of my things to be damaged, but I never would have thought they would just lose a massive box. This whole experience has been such a headache, and I wouldn't wish anyone else to go through this. Based on my experience, I'm guessing all the bad reviews have been removed after they call the individual that posted it and just short of threaten them to take it down. Find someone else - this nightmare is not worth it. read more

I was moving from Denver to New Jersey and from the time I called the company and until my stuff moved to New jersey was amazing, nothing broke, the television, other furniture stuff was all amazing, I could not believe my eye! so friendly was Sam and the whole crew who came to pack was amazing, The price was unbelieving less then what I was quote with other company. I had an excellent moving experience and will definitely use this company again. Rachel was fantastic to work with and helped me immensely as I took on this big task. Moving is always very stressful and moving from state is a huge undertaking. I appreciated that Rachel took my concerns seriously and made many efforts to follow up with me and keep me informed so I was not surprised by anything. When my things were picked up, my first set of movers were awesome. They worked diligently and efficiently and carefully prepped my belongings. I want to make sure the movers get due credit for their work ethic and care. I was very impressed. When my things were delivered, the next crew worked very hard as well unloading and reassembling furniture. They were very nice and also hard working. Long Distance Move ( Denver to Seattle) My move experience was a breeze from the initiall booking call to the move date was flawless. Chris was great explaining the the entire process from completing the inventory list, schedulingand moving day. I had to move out of my old locaion before the new house was ready and they also provided 1 months free storage before shipping to the new location. The movers (Nick and his crew of 3) were awsome and did a great job wrapping all the furniture with blankets & re-taping some of the boxes to be more secure. When they delivered the items some of the items such as marble tables, stationary cycle were broken. The clothes dryer fell down while unloading. Lots of things were broken during unload including expensive Gas Dryer. Please see the pictures. They sent 3 guys to pack, but sent just the driver and a slim guy to unload. We had a tension free experience with the suburban relocation system. The associate worked with us was Rachel. She was so responsive and friendly. She was there when ever we needed help in moving or packing. Excellent packing and unpacking.Things were picked at the right time , and delivered within the given time window . Loading and unloading was hassle free. Things arrived in good shape.Proposed bill and the actual bill was exactly the same . Very genuine rates , there was no surprises. If we had to move again we would definitely choose suburban relocation systems. read more
