After being introduced to this place by a friend who had tried this place, I immediately started…read moreresearching what I could get here. Friendly tip: they have a groupon available right now where you can get 6 empanadas and a sauce (salsa) andfor $24. But if you contact the owner beforehand, you can get the same deal without purchasing the groupon, which can help a local business save some extra fees. I called beforehand to place my order so that it would be ready by the time I got there. They have a wide variety of flavours to choose from. Their deep fried picks pertain to mozza cheese, while the oven baked ones are more meat focused. I ordered an assortment of different ones so that I could try a little bit of everything: cheese only, cheese + mushroom + green onion, cheese + chorizo, spicy ground beef, regular sliced beef, and chicken chimichurri. There is definitely a difference between the deep fried empanadas and the oven baked ones. I definitely have an unhealthy favouring of the deep fried ones, but the oven baked ones are a good alternative if you're trying to stay on the healthier side. My favourite empanada was the cheese + mushroom + green onion. They were generous with the cheese (read: cheese pull action was evident), and the mushroom had such a fragrant and strong flavour. As for the meat selection, it was so-so. I tried to be adventurous and try something different, but trying the others helped prove my initial prediction - which was that ground beef is the go-to as it is your typical empanada filling.

Loved this place! Was looking for an empanada place and this was the highest rated on yelp. The…read moreowner was very sweet and greeted us. She also had great recommendations. We ordered a variety to get a good feel including the ground beef, chicken chimichurri, shrimp and the cheese churizo. I would definetly recommend the shrimp and the churizo. Didn't really care for the chicken chimichurri. It wasn't bad but not amazing either. One thing I did not like at all was the salsa, way too much cilantro for my liking. Otherwise prices were fair and you get a free empanada for checking in. I didn't really like the location, it was in this weird industrial place but there was plenty parking. The decor wasnt bad, there's great art work however there was room for improvement.

Been to Calgary a few times now and every time I will make it a point to come back to this deli…read more Really cool vibe in a great neighborhood. Staff are super friendly and have recommended 10/10 sandos every time. Sandwiches are LARGE. So don't come alone so you can try more than one. My favorite is hands down the chicken Caesar. Don't worry, it's not a salad. It's mostly chicken. Will be back again to try all the other sandwiches!

I'm…read morenot usually a big sandwich person, but a good foodie friend of mine said they heard the hype about Scozzafava's so I went along. No regrets. If you didn't know about this spot, you might easily pass by without a second glance. Scozzafava's serves up authentic, classic Italian sandwiches that just slap. They use a soft sesame seed bun, which probably is the most unique part of the sandwich. For their marinara sandwiches, I wish they used a thicker bun to better absorb all the sauce. The sesame bun didn't keep its integrity, sadly. The meatball marinara was glorious! Slightly spicy, super moist meatballs, slightly sweet marinara, and perfectly paired with bitterness of the rapini. Don't forget the cheese pull! We also grabbed the classic Italian deli, which was scrumptious and very filling. You can't go wrong with either option, in my opinion.
