Yep.... Cafe food...very retro atmosphere…read more It was hot outside and I was looking for a cool drink, froyo or ice cream and Whistlestop popped up in my yelp search. Yelp and the ice cream gods were aligned today when they sent me here. Although I wasn't hungry the cheese curds caught my attention and so I finished off the no redeeming nutritional value of a milkshake with an order of cheese curds. As much as I want to fool myself on the dairy part of the food pyramid, I know better. But today was a "who cares?" kind of day. The cheese curds were hot, crispy and ever so slightly salty and made me smile while I waited on the milkshake. . Ohhh .... and that milkshake.... creamy and thick, the kind of thick that can't be slurped through a straw until it warms up. Perfection. Made with Montana's Wilcoxson's ice cream, it wasn't fancy, but on a hot day, was just right. New owners have taken over, and I hope the old time atmosphere stays the same for some reason.
