After reading the reviews we were excited to try this restaurant and it lived up to them. The cheese chunks were amazing with the applesauce to dip them in! The fig salad & BLT salad were both very good. The men had the fried rice with coconut shrimp and the noodles & beef & both cleaned their plates. Our server Rachel was wonderful. She took really good care of us and even changed one of the TV's so we could watch the soccer match. The beers were good & the warm oatmeal pie was really good ( big enough for 2 people)! The MUCKER too was done nicely and flavorful.....THE FRIES WERE NOT HOT! STEAK OSCAR was interesting, never ever had it sliced or prepared this way.....It was very tasty! THE FRIES WERE NOT HOT! The BLACK and BLEU burger was tasty, my only issue was that the meat was tasty and at the same time a little dry. THE FRIES WERE NOT HOT! The ASIAN COLE SLAW should be removed from the menu, it was on the verge of overly wet and tasted like the what I was hoping was the refrigerator....not good! I was excited to try this new family owned restaurant in Laurel. the service was great. The menu is very ambitious. So as a well traveled foodie I am a little harsh at times with reviews but I was impressed. Everything was elevated. We had cheese curd bites which were unlike any I've had...they had a sweet maple crust. I had the Asian noodles with steak which is one of their signature dishes. It was a little sweet for me but also a little spicy to balance it out. My wife had a burger which I had to try too. Everything was outstanding and the beers on tap were perfect. First time here. Greeted as soon as we entered and it helped our friend Judy knows the owners and their family! To start we had the Brussels for an appetizer, the we're crunchy with bacon bits and a semi sweet glaze that was delish! I had the special Korean bison meatballs with slaw, rice and broccolini. The slaw had a kimchi aioli and I strongly dislike kimchi but this slaw was the bomb! Carrots onion pickles and the aioli was amazingly good. Broccolini was done to perfection, and the meatballs had a harder than needed to be crust on them but they were so tasty! I think this has been one of the best meals I have had in a long time. Will certainly make the drive to Laurel from Billings to go again! My friend had chicken fingers and being an expert of them I could tell the were expertly fried with a light airy crust. I was looking for a hotel that had a restaurant close. I chose the Fairfield Inn because Carlton Depot was in the parking lot. I when I Checkin I asked about the Carlton Depot. The front desk gave raving reviews and knew they closed in an hour. I rushed over to order fast and get WA wine . My delicious salad was served so fast! I thought (I am probably stressing them out an hour before closing.). Nope.... 2 ladies came in 25 minutes before closing and the staff were super accommodating and made them feel at home. The food was good. The big complaint was ordered pop and asked for a 2nd one and then saw the bill and was $ 7 00 . Usually for pop get a free refill. Also got ranch salad dressing for fries and was billed a $1.00 for a small cup. read more
