But they needed me to help cover this run to Ohio, and I always jump at the chance to be alone in the truck cab, listening to good music, audiobooks and utilizing CarPlay to connect with people. Needless to say, when I got back to Indy around 3:00pm, I was starving. I was thankful that this Jersey Mike's opened up in this area about a year ago. I have visited this location a few times. I think the first time was just after they opened and I was headed to the Limp Bizkit show. (Note: probably one of the oddest shows I've ever been to. Plus: Corey Feldman! But Fred Durst killed it. And he stood on the stage after the show just soaking it all in and appreciating everyone who was there, waving and signing autographs. You could tell he didn't want to leave the stage. It was cool to see.) Anyway, it was a little hectic that first time I visited Jersey Mike's only being open a couple weeks and the manager was there coaching his team. I enjoyed witnessing that. Each time I've visited, the staff is very kind and helpful. They help you through the process and make sure your sandwich is made to perfection. Usually I like cold subs, bud I got the Big Kahuna Chicken Cheese (#55). Delicious. Fast forward to this evening (because I forgot to post this review earlier this week until I realized it was sitting in my Notes app. Oops!). My son had a golf match in Anderson, so we stopped in at Jersey Mike's. I went with the #55 once again. Still delicious with grilled chicken, onions, peppers and mushrooms with jalapeños. Shut the front door! The place is always clean and the staff were super patient with my daughters who wanted to order for themselves (which also included a ton of questions!). Jersey Mike's has become one of my favorite fast food sandwich shop chains.

The sandwich is about as long as my humerus, and I ate the whole dang thing in one sitting. New York Gourmet Deli is not to be confused with NY Gourmet Deli, also in Indy. New York Gourmet Deli is located on East 21st Street on the near east side; NY Gourmet Deli is on Ruckle Street, near The Children's Museum. Are they owned by the same people? I don't know, but someone needs to change their name so I'm less confused. Anyway, New York Gourmet Deli, on the east side, is great and located in an unassuming parking lot full of potholes. It looks like a liquor store from the outside, but step inside and you'll see the large deli counter where you order sandwiches, burgers, fries and other foods. The joint is also a convenience store, of sorts, with a wall full of refrigerated beverages, aisles of chips, candy, and lots of Mexican snacks. There's also a little corner of the store with goods like laundry detergent and other necessities. The hustle here is unmatched. The fellows behind the counter were flying all over the kitchen to fulfill the orders. I visited around noon on a weekday, which seemed to be a busy time because there were lots of people from all walks of life here, either waiting to order or waiting for their orders. The guys behind the counter were unflappable and took orders and made sandwiches at a speedy pace. Even if there's a line, you won't wait long for your food.

Service was very good with only a slight wait due to a small line. You order, they start making your order and you pay. A few minutes later the have everything ready and bagged up. I got a chopped cheese, it does reminded me of a sloppy Joe, and my only complaint was I wanted more lettuce and tomato. Richelle got the east coast roast beef and cheddar. She loved it and it had plenty of lettuce and tomato. Fries are good, and the give them a sprinkle of seasoning too. Plenty of cans of pop to choose, but would like to see a few diet pop options added. We will definitely come back, and I ask for plenty of toppings.

Ziggi's is a chain coffee shop, but it's slightly smaller than that other coffee chain. (You know…read morethe one.) So I felt slightly better about kind-of-not-really-but-yes-sort-of supporting a local coffee shop. They have a drive-thru, but I parked and went inside to get my coffee. The Sundays were playing over the speakers when I entered, which is always a good sign. I just ordered a black cup of coffee -- they have medium and dark roast drip coffee. It was good coffee, and surprisingly, it got better as it got cooler. I've never had that happen before! Usually, black coffee gets more bitter as it sits, but not so with Ziggi's. They sell a variety of baked goods, packaged cookies, premade breakfast burritos, as well as other beverages that aren't coffee, like smoothies, teas, and something called Energy Infusions. In fact, these kinds of drinks make up the majority of their menu, and their menu didn't even have regular coffee on it. I had to ask if they even sell drip coffee, and indeed they do. The people who work here were very friendly and super efficient. The location is great -- right off the I-70.
