All of us have been to subway and know what to expect. My family and I were traveling from SD to Fort Collins and stopped in for a quick break and a sandwich. I've been to Subways all over the west coast and this was by far the best Subway I've ever been to. My wife and I ordered a chicken and avocado footlong, this was one of the best chain sandwiches we've ever had. A great choice for a meal in the dining wasteland of Lusk. When looking for dinner, we found that the two options (The Pub and Scrumpy's Grill) were bars that were 21+ with smoking, which would not welcome our family. So, Subway it was, due to location and being open. Well, it was a CLEAN restaurant with a HUGE menu and a lovely sandwich artist in Samantha. My Mexicali 6" sandwich salad was DELICIOUS! She was skeptical of all of the spinach, but she loaded me up as requested. Considering the options, this is the best that you are going to get in Lusk on a Sunday for dinner. read more

The good: you know what to expect when you go to a Subway. Generally their food quality is standard in any store, and it was no exception here - our sandwiches were fine. The big drawback here was the absolute struggle that was ordering and paying. They had a new worker, which explains some of the struggle, but it was really difficult to get the order communicated. Worst subway ever! I've been to many different subways and usually staff consists of young students, especially in the summer. No places like this one where the staff here are not only rude but also untrained. The sandwiches we ordered were built incorrectly when I provided specific instructions. Staff came out and said to let her know if the sandwiches are built incorrectly and when I told her that they were built incorrectly, she just turned away and did nothing about it. Our sandwiches were significantly smaller than others when I asked for everything except onion. I found two pieces of turkey in my foot long. I knew subway is known to be pretty stingy on their meat in sandwiches, but only 2 pieces of Turkey? You got to be kidding me! The fountain drink wasn't producing any ice in the store. When we pointed that out to the lead staff, she came out and said it wasn't turned on and that somebody turned it off. Again, they did nothing about this for us. It was 90+ degrees out! This shows their lack of care and poor customer service. I'm surprised that this place exists with this kind of staff and such poor quality of food. read more

You are not going to stay in business if you don't hire better employees. We just ordered lunch there and waited 40 minutes in line getting our food. Any people left. I assume the owner was there as he took a lot of time ordering his food, visiting with employees and making a show of himself. I realize you don't have much to choose from when hiring, but sometimes a higher salary will attract better people. The only reason you are still open is because there are no other fast food restaurants for miles around ( I call Subway fast food although yours isn't). Not a single employee is wearing a mask as they breathe on your food and then hand it to you without cooking it. Half of the dining room is closed, but that's ok because they will infect you even with your takeaway meal. No thanks! read more

Probably the most friendly service I've ever had at a subway. My sammie was handled with great care.

Not even close to impressed! There was only one worker on a Sunday afternoon so needless to say, there was a wait. The shredded lettuce was visibly rotten. I wouldn't serve it to an animal, let alone a paying customer. Finally, the soda machine had dirty handwritten "Out of Order" signs on three out of eight beverages (see photo). Not to mention they were the most popular three: Coke, Dr. Pepper and Sprite. This Subway is a convenient location when you're driving through the middle of nowhere Wyoming, but after this experience... I think I'll just endure the hunger pains for an hour or two. read more

I can't express how badly you need to skip this hell hole, for your sanity and health. During my 25 minute ordeal to order two footlongs, I saw so many gross things that I almost walked out. First, no one washed their hands when switching from food to register and back again, or when they came up from the front. There was lots of head scratching/hat adjusting with gloves on, hands in pockets and other bodily touching. There were three people working, and while there was a long line, it didn't help that they were moving at their own convenience. I ordered a turkey italiano (which is a BMT with turkey instead of ham), and the lady tried to charge me 1.75 extra for adding turkey, so of course that caused some awkward moments at the register when I had asked at the beginning if that would just be the same cost as said BMT. She rolled her eyes so hard I thought she was going to knock herself out. To add that on top of everything else, I did end up getting sick from the food. So, eat at your own risk. read more

This is probably the worst Subway I have been to. Labor Day weekend at dinner time and one poor girl working all on her own! Two thirds of the dining room marked as closed.... 3 fountain sodas not working.... toaster broken down. Sadly, I could probably go on at great length. Came here for lunch and waited an hour to get a sub sandwich. There was probably 15 people in line in front of us and it took us an hour to get our sandwiches. There were 4 employees that we saw there and only 2 seemed to be working. The other 2 came out to stock a few things and then disappeared. I saw the poor reviews, but wanted to share our experience. During a recent road-trip, this was one of few places to stop in the small town of Lusk. I was thankful there was a Subway here. The two employees were friendly, helpful, and attentive. We were all starving, having driven through half of Wyoming with nary a restaurant in sight. We were half tempted to shoot one of the many cattle we saw and put it on a rotisserie and start roasting it (we were that hungry). Subway was a welcome sight for our eyes. We ordered an assortment of ham subway sandwiches on the cheese/herb bread and divided them up between us. They were all warmed and tasted terrific. I assume most people stop here on their way through town. Don't do it! Just keep driving...even if the kids are screaming for food and your stomach is grumbling too. This place is gross, slow, and totally not worth your money. Zero stars Where to begin? When we first entered this Subway at 6:15 on a Friday night, the right side of the restaurant seating area was "Closed. Please use other side," leaving seating for only 5-6 people. In front of us was a soccer team of about 12 teenaged boys. Two shaggy guys with pierced lips & greasy hair were making sandwiches. Thank goodness they had gloves on. Because our wait was going to be long, I used to restroom. The apparent manager on duty had used it just before me. There were two empty soap dispensers. She went back to the cash register after exiting the restroom, and did not appear to intend to replace the soap. The door to the office/back room was open, giving an open view to bags upon bags of I'm guessing marinara sauce in a plastic drawer unit my kids store toys in. Bags of banana peppers sat heaped on open shelves alongside stacks of other aged sauces. None of these were refrigerated. Hubs & I chose a turkey footling on 9-grain honey wheat bread, asked for all the veggies. The kids asked for chicken breast 6" subs. I almost stopped them as the pale chicken meat looked barely cooked, the color off. Our bread was sticky to the touch and rubbery. Of course there was no place to sit, since the actual main seating area was "Closed" for no apparent reason. We sat outside at a picnic table next to a large garbage can with no lid. The entire experience was disgusting. There are so few places to eat in Lusk that this dirty restaurant manages to stay open year after year. But our family is done. read more

This is the only subway that I will visit anymore and it used to be such a treat to go there when the company first opened. We travel from ND to Denver and this is my stop for fast food. The bread is fresh and friendly staff. Subway in Denver is iccky and Dickinson not much better. This location has managed to maintain the yumminess of the original product which alas has gone away everywhere else. This is the only place I find the montery cheese bread which is so good. On 7-23, my family had a terrible experience here. The four of us stopped for lunch and my 8 yr old daughter wanted salami instead of the turkey, roast beef, or ham that is listed in a kids sub. I've never had a problem with this at any other Subway, but I was told they could not substitute the meat. I offered to pay extra and was told no, it just wasn't allowed. The clerk helping me, Mary I believe, got angry with me when I complained and told me she was just an employee, she didn't make the rules. I told her I understand that, but that she was the representative of the business at this point and I was lodging a complaint that not allowing my daughter to choose a different meat was ridiculous. My FIL and husband were ahead of me in line and up to this point they didn't even know there was an issue. I turned to my daughter and told her she had to choose one of the the three meats because they wouldn't allow her to have what she wanted. My daughter was understandably upset. I was explaining to her what was going on when Mary told me she was refusing me service. Let me be plain, I was speaking to my daughter not the clerk when she threw down the food and told me to leave. Up to this point I was angry but not abusive. I was not shouting. I simply told them I thought that policy was ridiculous. It was now that anyone else in the restaurant knew there was a problem. At this point I did lose my cool. I made sure that as I left everyone understood I was being asked to leave because I didn't like their policy. I left the store only to decide upon reaching the car that I wanted the managers name and number to lodge a complaint. When I re-entered the store, none of the three employees would talk with me at first. I kept trying to get their attention to no avail. I had to again raise my voice to tell the room at large I wanted the managers name and number and I also wanted to apologize to Mary for losing my temper. Another woman employee finally came over and threw a post it note with the managers name on it at me. She told me I could apologize myself when I asked her if she would tell the original clerk I wanted to apologize. Fine, that was what I wanted but instead of coming over, Mary told me if I didn't leave she would call the cops. I told her I wanted to apologize, and she picked up the phone and went in the back. I continued for a minute to try to get her to come talk with me. I finally left when it became apparent she would not be a big enough person to try to resolve the issue. The post it did not have the area code and not being local I had to wait until I was in Douglas to get it. I got the area code from an employee at the Douglas Subway who was very helpful. They had no problem substituting meat on a kids sub. They said they do it all the time, it was company policy. I then called the manager who mumbled throughout the conversation. I explained the problem, told her the clerk should be disciplined if not fired. She told me she understood my concerns and that the situation had gotten way out of hand. She told me kicking me out for complaining was inexcusable and that my daughter should have been allowed to have salami. She then put who I assume is her husband on the phone to get my name and address to send me a gift card for the trouble. The altercation took place almost a month ago and I have yet to receive the card. When explaining to the Douglas Subway employees why I needed the area code, they all said they had heard bad things about the Lusk Subway. One employee had been at the Lusk location a couple months previously with 5 other people, all (shockingly) ordering their own subs. The employees at Lusk told the Douglas employee not to return if they were going to order "so many individual subs". Imagine a business refusing large orders. Isn't that the ideal? As it was with my family, they lost out on a $30 sale because Mary was having a bad day and didn't want told that the policies she was enforcing were ridiculous. She acted like a child both when she kicked me out and then refused to speak with me. I will tell you here, I am sorry I called you a name, but your behavior was inexcusable. If you do not like working with the public, if you do not like dealing with the effects of bad policy with the public, then you should find another job. Since nothing has come of this as far as I can tell, it is apparent that a change in both management and employees is needed. I have contacted corporate to resolve this issue as well. read more
