Believe it or not, it's been so long since I've been to Taco Bell that the Grilled Cheese Burrito now seems to be back as a "permanent" item. The burrito is stuffed with ground beef, seasoned rice, red strips, and a combination of reduced fat sour cream + chipotle sauce + nacho cheese sauce. This time around I decided to customize it instead of ordering it as is (see my review from 2020). I eliminated the rice, red strips, and chipotle sauce, but added refried beans. There is also a three-cheese blend on the inside and grilled on the outside. The layer of melted grilled cheese on the outside is the star of the show, but it does make the burrito a little messy to eat as the hands quickly get greasy from it. As good as this burrito is, it did fall short of its full potential this time around for a couple reasons. First, it was horribly unbalanced. Half my burrito was stuffed with refried beans and the other half was stuffed with beef. A good burrito should have an even distribution of ingredients. Second, either they forgot the nacho cheese sauce, or it was so sparse that I couldn't detect it.
