Especially when you walk in and you see the faces of frustration of the employees. Not here though. They welcomed us with smiles. We got their flavor of the day which was butter almond. Stopped into here on the way home from Franklin Field. We were expecting a Culver's knock off and we were pleasantly surprised to quickly realize that it's light-year ahead of Culver's. I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich and asked for extra pickles. I am notorious for being verbally disappointed at what most places consider to be "extra" pickles. For the first time in my 40 years on this planet, I actually had to take pickles OFF of my sandwich there were so many. It was a Christmas miracle. My friend asked for a side of pickles for her burger and she basically got a helping of pickles the size of an appetizer. As far as I'm concerned, if you are a pickle lover than this is the only place to get a burger in Milwaukee. The prices were incredible, the service was amazing, the cleanliness of the joint was top notch and the food was delicious. The woman who gave me my sandwich actually apologized to me for how many pickles the cook put on my burger. You should have seen the smile on my face. I stopped by after a meeting for a quick bite with friends on a Friday night. I usually have a burger but was in the mood for some fish instead. I ordered the three piece fish and chips and got a large helping of disappointment instead. The fish was disgusting. It looked like it had been refried and the coating was greasy and the fish inside was either dry or slimy. Not wanting to risk getting sick, I ate the fries and left. Oscars is your traditional Wi burger and custard restaurant and probably my favorite because they charbroil the burgers which gives the meat great flavor, I love char flavor. It was drive through only and I ordered the half pound bacon cheeseburger which is two beef patties. I kept it simple with ketchup, lettuce, tomato and onions which is my standard topping of choice. I admit that it didn't look like much with my first view but the side view looked much better and the burger meat looked dry. To my surprise the bacon cheeseburger was not dry at all and very tasty with that nice char flavor playing well with my toppings. The bun was a fresh sesame style that worked well and the beef had nice grill marks which made for a nice looking bacon cheese burger. We were looking for ice cream nearby our hotel and Oscar's stuck out to us while driving by. It reminded me a lot of a Frisch's Big Boy, but much nicer and cleaner. I've found everything frozen custard-related here to be great! We regularly do a drive-thru order for a half gallon of frozen custard or a brownie sundae. M&M cookie dough custard is my family's favorite! The food, however, is very hit or miss recently. Their burgers and fries and chicken nuggets are great when cooked well and are hot. When you get a lukewarm burger with unmelted cheese and soggy fries and nuggets, it's... not good. Since raising their prices, we now stick with only their frozen custard. Oscar's is ok. There is a running train in the middle of the dining room behind plexiglas at the location on 27th street. . If you have little ones- they'll be mesmerized. Little ones were following it and found it kiddy fantastic. The burger we got was ok. (I like Culvers better.) The onion rings and cheese fries were so so. We didn't get custard but those we were with did and were happy with the turtle sundae both in size and price and flavor. This wouldn't be a go to destination, but more of a good place if you want the air and chat and take all the time you want. read more

My wife and I went into Oscar's on 27th street today , 14 Nov 24 at about 1:00. I ordered fish and chips, onion rings, and a diet Mt.Dew. My wife had a hot dog and a Pepsi. When I got the order, my wife's stuff was OK, but I got a Diet Pepsi and there were no onion rings. I checked the receipt and the cashier hadn't put the order in For the onion rings. I took the drink up and told the lady it was wrong. She went over and started to fill the cup. In the middle of it filling she left and was helping some guy at the register and just seemed to forget about my drink. When she finally remembered, she went back to the drink machine, gave the filled cup a funny look and she dumps it out. She headed further back and after a short while came back with my drink. I thanked her and went to eat my fish and chips. Turns out the fish portions are tiny. Like a fish stick and a half. There were three of them.
