The scheduling was easy with Sudlow Concrete, the problem started when the owner Bill arrived to drop off his subcontractors, he wanted to charge me more for the job when he arrived. saying the job was larger than what they quoted, he was rather rude. I had them remeasure and it came out to be the same measurement as the quote. Second, they used their bobcat to dig down several feet to bury some concrete and then busted 3 of my sprinkler lines, they only fixed one of them. They also hid some of the old concrete in the bushes under dirt. Lastly, I have called 3 times to ask how to clean the red clay off the new concrete that came from the busted sprinkler lines, i have yet to get a returned call. I hope I don't have a problem with the concrete in the future, because i doubt that i will get a returned call. read more

Sudlow repaired my driveway apron and a portion of the driveway, and I am very happy with the outcome. The owner, Bill Sudlow, came out to the site first thing in the morning and introduced me to his crew, and answered any questions I had. The crew was efficient in their work, and did a great job, and the entire project was finished in about 6 hours time. We just had a driveway replacement done by Sudlow and can easily recommend them with no reservations whatsoever. The work started just after daybreak and was finished by late afternoon. The crew was obviously skilled in concrete work and I never once saw any one of them standing idle - they showed up to work and did an outstanding job. Disorganized. After taking a day off to be at home for a driveway repave project, I got a call from the owner of the company at 7:30 am that morning to cancel. He said that someone should have or had called me previously to cancel and nobody had. He blamed the weather over the weekend for the cancellation. That may be true. Same horrible experience that everyone has mentioned here. We still have boards they used in the driveway stuck onto it (!?). Same discoloration and spots from where they used the hose. I called as well, provided pictures and THEY DON'T CARE. Bill was horrible. He took phone calls in front of us while we we're literally in the middle of a conversation. We had a complicated job that required using part of the old driveway as fill and spreading top soil in our side yard, in addition to the concrete work. Our two car garage addition is at two different elevations and Bill's handled the transition beautifully, and I can see that water will be flowing in the proper direction. I have to agree with some of the other recently reviews. We had Sudlow replace a large driveway in our previous home and we were very pleased. That was in 2015. We called Sudlow back to extend a front porch and pour a walkway in our new home in 2020. The project was "completed" in December 2021. I admit that COVID played into some of the delay, and we had to interrupt the work because a tree fell on our house. But, the project took way longer than we expected. And, the work was shoddy. The walkway has already cracked and I am hiring a new company to rip it out and pour a new one. The masons did it complete the work as there are still pieces that were not installed. The workers were extremely sloppy and left trash (yes, trash) after "completing" the work. I am talking about half eaten food and silverware (not plastic, actual silverware) strewn throughout the front yard. They left a wheelbarrow. Sloppy all around. This company has gone way downhill. You have been warned. Stay away. read more

The only thing difficult about Sudlow was getting on their schedule and staying on it. I never thought about an entire company controlled by the weather on a weekly basis. However, my patience paid off. The day finally came and rain was predicted in the mid-afternoon. I was freaking because the only thing worse than a rainout is a do-over. Sudlow was totally in tune with my apprehension and reassured me with the plans he had in place. I stayed to watch the entire project since I have dealt with folks who do shortcuts when your not looking. I didn't have to say a word about quality, workmanship, or professionalism. The crew was totally prepared and did an outstanding job. I was so impressed to see that wreck of a driveway disappear in a morning to be replaced by such a beautiful designed, super strong and warranted driveway. Really professional organization. Great quality work and good communnication between sales / coordinator / laborers. We put in a 400sqft patio and a 40ft or so long walkway so not a huge job but handled very well. The team that came to actually poor the concrete were very patient with us and helpful as we finalized the design. I am a project manager in manufacturing and it was just refreshing to finally deal with a residential contractor that handled themselves professionally which is why I am writing this review. Judging by some other recent reviews, I think there is some sort of problem with this company or the owner. I got a call from him that he was coming out soon; then got a call from the office person who said he "didn't get any sleep last night and needed to go home and take a nap so he wouldn't get in a car accident." I said ok, no problem. He then called a couple hours later and came out. I had asked a few times that he not park in the driveway. He parked in the driveway. I had explained exactly what I needed done. He arrived, took one look at my front steps that needed replacing, and wigged out, saying "oh, uhhhh, we don't do that. thanks ..." and put his hand out to shake mine and ambled off. Very surreal; I thought I was in the Twilight Zone. He was here for all of three seconds but it was a huge waste of time, because now I have to start over and wait again for someone to come out. I don't like to complain about people who may have ailments, but if you can't do your job, hire someone else so people aren't left with last-minute cancellations or wigouts. read more

I understand that it was Bill Sudlow himself when he stopped by to look at my project. As soon as I asked him if it would be possible to leave the removed concrete on site so that I can use it to build some terraces (my house is sitting on a rather steep hill), he got impatient and raised his voice telling me that he only does things his way and is not going to get into managing my concrete and losing money when I don't pay him. What?? Probably I caught him on his bad day, but this was totally uncalled for and looked utterly unprofessional. He might do things perfectly fine when he follows his routine. Fair Price & Great Work! We moved into a house that had small pea gravel instead of a normal driveway. We quickly learned that this was a horrible substitute for a driveway. We received custom estimates from different companies. Not only was Sudlow the best price but they also had the best warranty, 10 years! They were able to schedule us quickly, within one week. The arrived on time. Bill Sudlow, the owner, came out personally to walk us through the plan. We wanted to make a couple of changes and he was able to accommodate us without any issue. He even pulled out some shrubs that were encroaching on the driveway and hauled away the unwanted pea gravel at no additional charge. We had a very good experience with Sudlow laying a new driveway for our house. First, the crew was top-notch (especially the crew leader). They showed up early to their scheduled start time on both days, were extremely professional, and did high quality work. The crew leader was also very friendly and informed us when our son could lay his handprint in the concrete. I can't say enough positive things about the crew leader -- who should get a raise or be promoted for how he represented the company. Second, we did have one minor dispute with Sudlow about the dimensions of the driveway. What could have been a frustration turned out to be a very positive experience. One of Sudlow's employees, Kristi, called us several times to understand our position and even got the owner, Bill Sudlow, involved. As a result, we reached a great outcome. I get compliments on the driveway Bill Sudlow completely replaced for me about a year ago. Unfortunately the complement isn't complete without the person adding "did you know you have a crack?" The crack developed around day 25 after the pour. It still upsets me, but I was told concrete cracks. I just wish it was cracked where it was supposed to be and not on the middle of a surface. The driveway was difficult due to numerous pine trees we had to remove previously and there was a truckload of roots they ended up removing. The driveway and walkway and stairs turned out great. Fair price and good work. We had the driveway of the house we bought replaced and the team at Sudlow and they overall did a nice job. The process of scheduling the project date and time was easy. The project manager for the job, Aaron was very responsive. We had to change the start date a few times and they worked with our availability. The job itself was done well. Unfortunately, it was during a rainy week so one of the days the team didn't show up due to the rain so we had to call and check. It would have been good if they had called and informed us they were coming the next day to complete the job due to the rain. Outside of that the job was completed professionally. The driveway itself looks great, however, the clean up could have been better. The group did not clean all left over concrete remnants from the street in front of the house, which ended up catching mud tracks that have stuck to the front of the house, which will require us to do pressure washing. We wish that part could have been handled well. But outside of that the quality of work was good; the driveway looks nice and we were happy with the overall results and would work with them again. read more
