We asked Top Masonary to come out and price several projects for our home since they offer so many services. Will was able to promptly fit us in for some gravel patio and pathway work we wanted to complete in our backyard. The team leveled our bumpy terrain, placed weed barriers and put in a thick pea gravel layer for us. I love the result and care for detail including a nice brick barrier to prevent us losing gravel at the back gate. Be very cautious dealing with this place. It's listed on Angi's, Thumbtack and Homevisor, which was the only reason I felt comfortable to reach out to this biz. The supposed owner, Will called me back. We discussed a day/ time he was supposed to come by to view my issue. He told me to text him the day/time, which I did a minute after we spoke. He took days to respond to me and never committed to none of the times we agreed our schedules aligned. In fairness to him, he did go by to look at the damage without me being there and he told me repair cost. I asked him to email me the quote, but he insisted I meet him in person to see it & sign it. I wasn't able to because I was going out of town. He refused to email me a quote and he texted me a pic of a handwritten quote only he could decipher because it was unreadable otherwise. Aside from the project cost (which was crystal clear), I couldn't understand the writing (scope of the work) he wanted me to sign. Weeks later after traveling, I called him back to try to resume efforts to get the work done. I told him I could meet him in person to see if I could read the contract. I also asked him does he accept credit cards since on the 3 sites I stated above, his profile says he does. He went on hemming and hawing about he doesn't use those sites (though his profiles are there), he doesn't accept credit cards (though his profiles says he does) and I need to pay him via Cash App or Zelle. I told him I like the guarantee those sites offer because I don't want to get scammed, and since I found him there, I wanted to do business with him there. He was very resistant to doing business via the sites though he has profiles on them stating he does. He claimed he had no knowledge of how to allow people to pay him via the sites and he had too much trouble accepting credit cards, so he only takes cash, Cash App or Zelle. I told him I need to pay by credit card and I'd be ok paying him the service fee of what the company charged him for me to use my card, so we concluded the call by him asking me to send him info on how he can accept payment through one of those sites. In 10 min, I sent him the instructions from Angie on how to accept credit cards and I also told him he could invoice me via Paypal. He ignored the many text msgs I sent him, so I decided I wasn't going to beg anyone to take my hard earned money. I thought I moved on from this guy and started googling other companies to try to get the work done. Unbeknownst to me, this guy has several different company websites & phone numbers that link back to him. Via text, I communicated with what I thought was a totally different company and another person, but then the guy (which I suspect was Will) sent me some info that was akin to Will's info (yes bizarre I know). When this occurred, I instantly asked him to call me, but he refused. I waited some and then I called the number, and I heard Will's voice because he has a very distinctive accent but he was pretending to be someone else. When he realized it was me, he literally hung up in my face. Being frustrated because of him constantly wasting my time by doing all the things I shared above, me submitting my info to these bogus masonry websites he has set up and is playing games on, I thought it would behoove me to share my negative experiences so others can make an informed decision about using this place based on the plethora of dispiriting I had with this place. All I'll say is If you decide to use this place, please be very careful due to the litany of issues I had dealing with him before we even got started with the work. It's definitely cause for concern so please be aware. I'm literally afraid to call other companies now cuz they maybe all linked to his various phone numbers & websites that ultimately will send me right back to him. Those contractor sites need to remove people like him who want to be listed on their sites, but don't want patrons to show they found them on there so they won't be liable if they do shotty work. Wow! Normally, I don't write reviews but had to write one here. I just got off the phone with Will yesterday and he was very rude to me. His work product was fine, which was repairing a brick walkway and a seam between a brick patio and the house, and the price was reasonable. The problem is his customer service communication skills and the way he speaks to people. After the work was done, he requested payment the same day, which was fine. We were doing everything verbally at this point, so I asked him for an invoice or bill. I told him to leave the invoice at my house. I get home and there is no invoice, so I texted and gave him an email address to send it. He then texts back and says he can't leave an invoice until I pay. I then called him and he got very upset and short with me and wants to know when he can meet me to get payment, even though we spoke earlier about paying thru Zelle. I then explained the difference between a bill, invoice and a receipt, and insisted on getting a bill before I pay, as I need this and not a receipt. I thought he was confusing these, but he continued to be very harsh to me then stated I did not have to tell him how to run his business and he had plenty of customers without my business, which you should never say to a client. Ughh! Given all these positive reviews, I believe this was cultural and Will just needs to learn how to deal with people different than himself. read more
