Good service at a high price. Certainly the most clean my car has been in quite some time, and staff is friendly and hardworking. I certainly can't afford to go back regularly at $26 for a standard wash with interior clean, but a good option if you're looking for a thorough clean without a detail. (They charge an extra dollar for paying by credit card instead of cash.) It took me a bit of driving around to find the entrance as a first-timer. A great indoor wash. Pull in the garage door and drive right in. They started washing the car within 5 minutes of my arrival. An inside and out cleaning and wash. Hand dried. They are really nice folks. Don't forget to tip them. I love the sign in the bathroom door. read more

My rating is based on their monthly prepaid wash program. I went into the gas station and asked to buy it and was told I had to go to the wash entrance. At the wash entrance I was told to go inside but then the attendant grudgingly rang up the $30fee and gave me an illegible receipt, put an RFID sticker on the window and sent me through the wash. After the wash I stopped at the free vacuum station but they had no power. Each time since then that I have gone back, the RFID sticker does not work and the attendant argues with me whether I am really entitled to a wash. I show the receipt and of course he can't read the price I paid for the signature service so twice out of four times he has sent me through the wash with only the basic service. Do not pay for a monthly plan here. You will regret it. read more

I had gone there for years until this week... The person cleaning the interior went through my entire glovebox and stole a small zipped bag with emergency cash in it. I know because this happened because I had thrown a mask in the top of the glovebox as I pulled into Suds (in an effort to declutter before they did the interior cleaning) and when I got the car back, the mask was tangled up with other items at the bottom. I knew to check the glovebox because I witnessed the cleaner spending 2x the time inside my front passenger seat as any other car that day (I was there for 6 other washes). Unfortunately, when I called the owner/manager after I left to inform him, he just asked if anything was taken and said "he's worked for me for ten years" and hasn't had any other complaints. I decided to give Suds Car Wash another chance, and I must say that my one-star review stands. The car wash uses old, stained rags - not microfiber cloths - to wash and dry your car. I left the wash with long lines of scratches on my car's driver's door, left passenger door, and left quarter panel. I have to now take my car in to a body shop to get polished and pay for that. Photos of the scratches to follow very soon. Do yourself and your car a favor and check out touchless car wash instead. Update: The owner Jesse R wrote to me directly to deny that the scratches on my car are the result of the wash. Firstly, take a look at Suds Car Wash's Google reviews, and look at the owner's rude, condescending response to customers who leave an honest but poor review on his car wash business. He has trouble with responsibility and being humble, and is shockingly unaware of the basics of car wash. Two, my car had just gotten out from a highly reputable body shop in Wilmette a week ago with a new paint job done on the left side of the car after a neighbor sideswiped it. Suds Car Wash was the first wash my car underwent a week later. Since the owner is denying that the scratches came from his car wash, but, strangely, my car went in without scratches on the driver's door, left passenger door, and left quarter panel only to exit with them, then I guess there must be AN INVISIBLE GRINCH who lives in his car wash and goes around scratching cars here and there. Given how arrogant and condescending the owner of this establishment is in addition to his lack of knowledge about car wash, cloths, and scratches, I bet that he is delusional enough to say that it was indeed an invisible grinch who lives in his car wash that did it rather than one of his employees. Three, the owner said that cloths don't leave scratches any time there's water in contact with the surface. That's not true. Any stained, old rags just like the ones used at Suds would leave scratch regardless of whether there's water present. But, for argument sake, let's say the owner is correct that cloths - including the old, stained rags he uses at his business - do not leave scratches whenever there's water on the surface. When you dry the car with a cloth during the first wipe, some water is dried off, but some remain, and as there's less water on an area, scratches would be inevitable especially when it's an old, stained rag that's being used to dry off any remaining water on a car's exterior. To top it off, the guys at the car wash don't seem to know when to hit the brakes on drying the cars. They use their old, stained rags and go over your car obsessively and endlessly even when it's already dried. They do that as long as there's still a car or cars in front of you, regardless of whether your car is already dried. Fourth and final comment that I forgot to add to my initial review: One of the car wash guys was sitting in the driver's seat of my car during almost the entire duration of the wash while talking on his cell phone. So far I have came here 3 times for a car wash and each time they have done an excellent job! They pay close attention to detail when washing and especially drying so that you don't have water flying out of the crevices when you drive off. They are around the same price as the car washes in the area however they I feel they do a little bit more for the price. I highly recommend giving them a try! read more

Nope. The $25 standard wash/vacuum was very mediocre. They missed areas of dust on the dash and failed to vacuum the back seat area. No protectant was used on the dash or tires. Moreover, you should question the person doing the review and make a balanced judgement. These guys are t-h-o-r-o-u-g-h. Very. They seem to go above and beyond the standard for a hand-wash place and your vehicle will always roll out of there looking like a million bucks. I drive a convertible, and once I was there in the summer. So after they gave me back the car, I pulled forward towards the exit and put the top down to go about the rest of my day. A couple of guys sprang forward out of nowhere, whipped out their cloths and sprays, and scrubbed the handful of nooks and crannies that had previously been covered but were now exposed after retracting the hardtop. Now THAT is service! So consequently they are a little more expensive and a LOT more popular than most places. Don't even attempt to go on a Saturday. In nice weather you will wait at least half an hour just to get in the door. I first came here a couple of years ago on the strong recommendation of a couple of Evanston acquaintances, but it seems as if I were the last one to know. I only go once in a blue moon when the right circumstances line up (primarily, being off on a weekday and in the neighborhood). But it's a wonderful treat for my darling Olivia. read more

Found this place on Yelp about two months ago, and I went over for a mini-detail ($22). I waiting in line down the street for a while, then when I finally got into the garage, there was no one to take my order or direct me. I spoke to a number of individuals who just looked at me as if I was speaking Greek. So, I spoke to them in Spanish! After a look of total surprise, one of them pointed to a gentleman who was holding a towel off on the side. I walked over and tried to explain what I wanted. He kinda shoo'd me off and said that he would meet me in the office to order and pay. In the words of Stephanie Tanner, "How Rude!" It gets better... Once my car was ready, I was signaled. I went to sit in the front seat, and I couldn't fit! I tried to move my seat back and it was stuck! As I tried to move the seat, the guy with the towel came over and asked me what was taking so long. I explained, and he told me to get out. He tried to move the seat, but couldn't. He said that it was broken, but he didn't have time to fix it. He proceeded to drive my car out into the street and parked it in the lot next to the car wash. As he walked away, I noticed my side panel was peeling back! WTF! I drove a perfectly fine car into the car wash and it is coming out a hoopty! I don't think so... The guy with the towel said that he just washes cars, he doesn't have time to fix them. I shouldn't have brought my car in if I knew it was broken. And walked off. EXCUSE ME??? I followed him back into the office and asked to speak with a manager/owner. He handed me a business card and told me to call back later. Walked off, again. I went outside and prayed that I would be able to fix the seat because even at 5'1" I couldn't get in and drive it. I live an hour away!! By the grace of God, I was able to get the seat to work again, so I didn't have to tow the car to a repair shop. Here we are two months later... no more problems with my driver seat. They must have blown something into the track or something. But, my side panel is still busted and my calls to the owner have gone unanswered and unreturned. That's what I'm gonna be too - UNRETURNED. Never again. Stay away. Watch Out! Been here many times without an issue but this past weekend when I took my car into be washed I noticed that there were scratches on the top of the car that were not there before. We immediately returned and spoke to the manager, Giovanni, who told us that there was absolutely nothing he can do because the scratches could not have been caused by suds. He immediately denied it without even seeing the car ( he only got up to see it at my request). I was told that I needed to call the owner on Monday. When I called to speak to the owner I was informed that the owner is only available Mondays and Fridays from 8 am to 11 am. My car has streaks of soap?? all over it and they put some awful chemical air freshener in it, something I don't want me or my children to breathe in. Worth $12 not @21 I have been going to this hand car wash for many years and I have to say that its best days are behind it. I have had no less than 50 washes at this location and the last 3 have been well below par for this shop. With a new name "SUDS" the former "SPEX" car wash is running on its former reputation rather than its present performance. I have not seen Jamie the founder of SPEX in a long time and I have to wonder if he has sold off his interest to the individual who now acts as manager. The service and clean I am used to from Spex is no more --- Suds does a fine job (and OK job) -- and I would pay $12 for what I am getting --- I gladly paid Spex $21 plus $3 tip because the wash and detail work I got for my money was worth it. Example Today's Wash: Did not clean or vacuum the door compartments or the center console (which was cleared out and left open for them), grime still in cup holders, the door jams were not wiped down, smudges on rear window, water marks on exterior of windshield from drying car off with wet rag, visible sand still on the floor mats (area not well vacuumed). Example 2 Last months wash: Windshield not done, dirt along running boards, manager when asked would not spray out rear of pick up truck even though it was debris free (I just wanted the snow melted out), finger prints on rear view mirror. Example 3: 3 months ago: My Suburban: I wont get into details, but lets just say after close inspection I drove the SUV all the way back to show the manager who then offered to re-clean the car. I worked for Suds Carwash This location has the worst manger who is Jaime Cardenas. I have never seen any manager who demeans his employees and customers. He yells at them simply because he's not in decent moods. Zameer, who is the owner know how Jaime's moods are and doesn't do any about it. I would have to say, if I own this establishment, I would never have an individual like Jaime manage this unit What I have seen... Jaime has done done drugs during the day working at SUDS GRAN PRIX CARWASH, taking meth, cocaine, and not sure what else. Jaime is under investigation for child abuse and has lost custody of his only son due to being a drug addict. He was arrested for this issue and the owner Zameer was the one who bailed him out. Who in the world would condone a tragic lifestyle of this nature. Jaime frequently adjust the cost of the carwashes with no justification but to simply overcharge the customers. I would say, this is illegal. Zameer, do you realize Jaime is stealing from you by purchasing personal items on the company's card... Then Jaime has a Long history of being a sexual predator towards his female employees. This place could not be more overrated. I arrived early on a Sunday only to find that Yelp's listed hours were incorrect. But I waited the extra hour and was first in a line. The manager was rude. I pointed out that I had just driven up from the deep south the day before. My front end had a lot of bugs on it, and I wanted to ask if it would need special care since the paint was just a couple of weeks old and had not yet been waxed. He had no time to listen, and interrupted with, "we'll get the bugs," over his shoulder as he walked away. When done, there were several large splotches of former bugs on the hood and front bumper. I asked one of the guys on the line to go over those spots. He tried and then called the manager. Without looking at the car, he said, "Only thing to do is to buff it. $155.00. 90 minutes." My car is a Miata - very small. Other quotes have been for half. My trust level was not high at this point entirely because of his first promise, failure to check the problem after the exterior wash, and way too quick offer of a service I did not need. At most the front of the car needs buffing. It could well be taken care of with much less expensive treatments with detailing products. I paid for the wash and left ... will not return, would not recommend. This place is riding high on a reputation that far exceeds the level of service given. read more

After intending to wash/vacuum the interior of my car for months, I took it to Suds this morning - and a team of six guys hand washed the outside and transformed the interior in 20 minutes flat. I'm going to start by saying that in the end of my experience, I drove away with the best interior cleaning my car has ever had... It's almost as if my little Honda Fit is brand new again! But the rest of my experience was pretty bad. I rolled up to Suds at 10am on a Friday morning, thinking not too many people would be there yet but alas, there were 3 cars idling in the street in front of me. No biggie, I can wait... How long could it take? Well, 50 minutes later I'm finally pulling into the garage door. I'm a bit annoyed with the wait, but I figure it's a hand wash so I'll be patient. I get out of my car and walk to the cashier to pay. Now, I've been sitting in my car for 50 minutes reading every sign they have posted about 20 times over because there's nothing else to look at and nowhere does it say they won't except credit cards for less than 2 washes. I mean, really?? They don't even have it posted by the cashier! And what a random cut-off point... 2 washes? So the cashier points me to their ATM machine ($3 surcharge, btw) but since I was waiting for my new ATM card in the mail after my purse was stolen a few weeks ago, I couldn't take money out so I offered to pay for the car behind me. I'll chuck it up to a good pay it forward moment but if they're going to have that type of policy, it needs to be posted somewhere. After the payment confusion, I waited another 20 minutes or so for my car to be finished. So, a total of about an hour & a half of waiting, odd payment requirements and rude staff... But the car wash itself was great! I may try them again in hopes that now that I know their policies and what to expect in terms of waiting, the experience won't be so bad...
