Definitely a small town diner feel. Food was alright. Portions seem a but small but made sense seeing how most of their patrons are probably older people that don't eat much. This is where I go for breakfast with my Dad and mom in Cedar Springs. The portions are large and the prices are descent. Owned by a polite young man, generational owned and family operated. I usually order the pancakes with pecans. They always come bigger than the plate. The experience that I had my pancakes were not burnt. I also had eggs and bacon well done. The coffee is okay. An off Main Street diner that is a hidden gem. A quaint little place with a no frills decor. I ordered a half order of biscuits and gravy, and a Swiss omelet with homemade wheat toast. My wife ordered an all meat omelet with homemade rye toast. The biscuits and gravy were very good. I do think it just a tad bit to much pepper to my taste, but still very good. My omelet had ham, mushrooms, onions, and Swiss cheese in it and a slice on top. The bread was so good. My wife's had ham, bacon, and sausage with American cheese with a slice on top. She also liked her rye toast. The wait staff was courteous and they were on it. Coffee was refilled a couple times and the food came nice and hot and in a timely manner. I had to downgrade my rating this time. It has been quite a while since i ate there, but i had been missing it, so purposely drove out of my way to go there. I was surprised to find it almost empty. But i though good for me. No problem finding a seat. Anyway i ordered a couple scrambled eggs and potatoes, 1/2 order of hash. Everything was fine, except they were closing and it wasn't even close to closing time yet. Again, no biggie. So i finished eating, and as always the food was great. Went to pay and leave, and my order came to $16.00. That would normally be what i paid for two people. Have eggs gone up that high. I didnt even order any meat. So any way, left ab$4 tip, came to $20.00. Thats the most ive ever paid for a one person breakfast. Maybe its been a while since ive eaten out. And it will be a long time before i eat out again at those prices. I'm guessing thats why its no longer packed all the time like it used to be. Great food, great people, just way too high on the prices. Thats one of the readons i liked the place so much. It had great food, you got a lot of it, and the prices were very reasonable. I wont be back unless the prices come back down to something reasonable again. It needs a lot of updating too, which i didnt care about when the prices were good. Like the seat bench covers. Had to Google the location because it's not visible from the main road. Great little diner off the beaten path! Portions were plentiful and reasonably priced. Staff was very friendly. French toast was very delish. The two flaws: pancake syrup they provided along with burnt bottom crust for the two slices I had. Size of homemade bread they used for the french toast was very big and decent. Sausage links was good as well. No complaints there about eggs nor sausage. My reasoning of minus 2 stars: I kept smelling burnt food before AND after our food was served and my toast pieces were burnt along with them putting sliced american cheese atop of farmers omlette for my mother. She enjoyed her food otherwise. I will be back if I am in the area again to give the french toast another go. Its that good. read more

We found this place via yelp and stopped in our way to the grand rapid airport. What a treat!! We immediately stood out at the non-locals but were treated like gold and ate like Kings! Wonderful! My husband and I stopped here after leaving Grand Rapids, on a road trip from Texas to Gaylord to pick up a camper we purchased. The whole trip up North was fast food, due to COVID and limited restaurants being open to dine in. We were craving home cooked food and found this hidden gem on google. My husband said find a Country Kitchen like home, and while I thought it would be impossible, I found one! The service was wonderful and the food was even better. Ate here while on a road trip. Service was great, everyone was friendly and all dishes and silverware were clean. Their fries are crinkle cut, which is nice, and their fried mushrooms were really good (not soggy or falling apart). They have BIG pancakes that were fluffy and slightly crisp around the edges. Their club sandwich was very tasty. The decor is slightly dated and the restroom has a single toilet that is place too close to the wall which makes it hard to use for broad shouldered people. They do have a full baby changing table in the restroom and it was clean and sanitary. Pros: Great service, good food, reasonable prices. Cons: Dated decor, cramped restroom. The restaurant was filthy, with fingerprints covering the entry door, and grease and debris covering the carpet in the dining room. The kitchen is semi-open to the dining room, and the kitchen staff was not busy. Cooks were chatting with each other, with multiple four letter words peppering their conversation. The dining room was not busy. We waited 15 minutes for someone to take our order. After asking twice if someone would be able to take our order, we left. Won't be back. read more

The food is excellent, some of the staff are great others completely awful! Went in there with just my daughter, after watching our waitress wait on everyone else walking through the door. (Almost 25mins) she finally made her way to us. I placed our order. She dropped food off and I never seen her again. Had to go to counter to get the bill. Outside has the look of a typical small town coffee shop diner that locals have visited for years. Inside decor continues the feel yet does not feel dated, just non-pretentious. I recently moved to the area and have tried a few of the breakfast restaurants in the area. I finally found my spot. Sue's Kountry Kitchen is off Main Street close to the post office. Now the saying don't judge a book by its cover is true here..the building is old and the decor is dated. Most defiantly done by the owners. But that should not stop you from trying this gem. The waitstaff is understaffed so you won't get that sit down and talk to you for a while vibe. It's more of a what do you want let me get that for you and are you happy with what you got. If your looking to make friends with the staff it won't happen right away...I'm sure they would do that if they had more staff as they are friendly and do recognize you if you come in often. Now on to the food which is amazing...hands down some of the best breakfast I have ever had. I get the country skillet with added green peppers and homemade white or wheat toast along with a homemade cinnamon roll to start. They sometimes have homemade doughnuts which are amazing also. I have tried several things on the menu and everything has been wonderful. But I have found my favorites and I plan to keep coming back every weekend. Great breakfast and lunch. I really enjoy the Country Skillet. Only issue is they are frequently understaffed.

The skillet dinner that I had was wonderful. The raisin bread was to die for. It was wonderful. The inside of the building, decor, or lack there of, old run down, very sad. It has burnt orange walls with a bunch of black skillets on the wall, very cheesy. Very Halloween-ish, yuk. They need a designer. TERRIBLE SERVICE!!! My husband and I were passing through and thought this would be a good place to try. In the 20 minutes we sat there all we got was lukewarm coffee.
