Came for a pre-fishing brunch and ordered a western omelette with extra crispy hash browns. Did not disappoint! The omelette was firm but not dry, the fillings were sauteed tender-crisp and the cheese was generously portioned. Really should have had a picture of those hash browns...the browning was a thing of beauty. Alas, hunger would admit no delay. Service was efficient and attentive. Great little pit stop. read more

Service on this day sucked. It took damed near 60 minutes to get our food. The only saving grace was the breakfast was very good.

My girlfriend, buddy and I arrived at about 12, it took us 15 minutes to get seated, and after we did our server was blantantly rude and disrespectful -- first she came up to the table and said "drinks", when it came time to order I had asked a question about the servering size and she said" WHAT?" then after I repeated the question she answered very rudely, after food had came I had asked for strawberry jam for toast and when she brought it back She threw them on the table and walked away. I also heard her talking to other tables near us and she was being very rude and disrespectful to them also. Tried this place for breakfast. Ordered the western omelet, with feta cheese, $6.99 Hash browns were extra, $1.99, ordered mine well done. Toast would have also been extra. I passed, but was surprised toast was not included with the omelet. I was happy to see the well done hash browns, as requested. I was expecting the ham, onions, green peppers to be sautéed and wrapped inside of the egg omelet. Instead, they were cooked with the eggs, then some cheese inside the folded egg mixture and some cheese on top. Egg mixture was overcooked and finding the pieces of chopped ham, onions, and peppers was difficult...very sparse. Disappointing dining experience. read more

This place will blow you away with their breakfast. When you walk inside, it looks like a little hole-in-the-wall country diner - it is SO much more! Unfortunately Newaygo does not have very many breakfast places, but this is the one to visit. Quick and friendly staff, awesome menu and fair prices. Was brought here by family for AYCE shrimp night. I was VERY skeptical at first because I just didn't imagine how there could be even half way decent shrimp in this part of the state... We were quickly greeted and chose a table. This place definitely has the small neighborhood diner feel. Everyone knows everyone and everyone is incredibly friendly, but there is definitely a no frills decor if you catch my drift. The bathrooms and restaurant are far from spotless, but I've definitely eaten at worse, and as long as the food tastes good I'm very open minded. I ordered the AYCE shrimp (duh!) and it came with a salad/soup and side. The salad was a straightforward house salad and it was frozen. Yes, it was frozen. Like rock hard, ice crystals frozen. The shrimp thankfully came out too quickly and I was distracted so I didn't complain or ask for a new one. The shrimp were pretty solid. The garlic butter they use on the grilled shrimp was delicious and while the fried shrimp was good, on my 2nd and 3rd round I definitely went all in for the grilled. All in all, a decent experience, and might even say great experience for the price and the area. The rest of the food the rest of my table ordered didn't look like anything to brag about and no one was overly excited...come here for the shrimp, not sure it's worth it for anything else... read more

Nice small town diner in Newaygo. Had breakfast here while visiting a friend in town and thought the portions were great for the price, and the food was delicious. I had the Lumberjack special, and my friend ordered the breakfast burrito. They had plenty of other options, as well as a lunch/dinner menu and homemade desserts. I got a slice of peanut butter pie to take home to my boyfriend and it looks amazing. If you are looking for a 'Mom and Pop' type restaurant in Newaygo, this one is for you! read more

Don't think I'll ever be going back to this restaurant. In my opinion, deceptive business practices, asked the waitress for clarification re "choice of potato" "included. " Re sweet potato fries. She said yes, upon further investigation she said "not included" but a dollar more. Confusing!too many restaurants including this one in my opinion using same methods. Buyer beware. Came for the All-You-Can-Eat Friday Fried Fish, stayed for the incredibly friendly staff! My best friends and I are so happy that we decided to stop here for dinner. Sadly, I fear we disappointed our server, as we weren't able to order more than one serving of fish because the helping was very generous. Between the three of us, we had sweet potato fries, mashed potatoes, and a baked potato - all delicious. We're sad that we won't be able to come for AYCE shrimp next Wednesday, but we'll have to visit again soon. :) read more

Stopped in yesterday because I love their biscuits and gravy. Still good flavor but took a lot longer than usual for the food to come out and when it did arrive it was cold to room temperature. Still ate it because not worth the hassle of sending it back. Maybe an off day for the kitchen or someone new cooking. I'll still go back it's best option in town. read more

I've eaten in this building off and on under different names and different owners over the course of the last 4 decades. This latest incarnation is just about as consistently good as any of them. The coffees always hot. The food is tasty and reasonably priced. The staff is pleasant and the place seems very clean and well kept. They have good breakfast food. A couple of the burgers aren't bad. The prices are ok. If you get coffee, I hope you like it soapy/salty. Every single time, my cup is soapy tasting. I have even asked once for my cup to be rinsed better and got it back the same way. I don't know why it's always like that but it's off putting. The waitresses are the absolute WORST in Newaygo. Actually, worse than any restaurant I have ever been to anywhere in this country. The short stout one with real long hair will show no friendliness, no sense of humor, no smile, won't bring you refills on your drinks and ignore you just about the entire time you're there. Until she brings you the check of course. We never tip her much because she's so bad. We used to, but after a while, you get tired of tipping someone well and getting treated like crap. We love coming here. It is a great country diner. We love when they have specials. Usually, not always, are delish and reasonably priced.
