EDITED: removed two stars. When I got into my swimming suit on my first day of vacation (48 hours after the sugaring) I realized there were TONS of spots of hair on my upper legs. If I was not on a cruise ship where it was hard to get shave gel and razors I would have probably just shaved. I don't know if it is because they are more fine hairs on my upper legs, but there were giant patches of hair missed. I have never had this happen in my standard waxing experiences. I was shocked how much hair was left on my upper legs (baby fine hair) and over both knees. If this is a difference in sugaring versus waxing I will definitely have to stick with waxing as it looked like I had no hair removal done at all in big patches. Sooo bummed. ---- Original review: Overall a good experience. They were friendly and helpful making my appointments and the facility is clean. They're also easy to find. I had a number of services head to toe so they split my time between two estheticians. The first one was good but I felt like she talked almost too much. It felt forced and I am sure she was just trying to distract me but I just kinda wish I'd have been able to lay there quietly. I had asked to leave a strip of hair and she did but it was lop-sided and looked funny. I didn't realize it until I got home and ended up having to just shave the small area. The second girl was very friendly but was better and reading me and didn't push conversations. When it slowed down she let me sit quietly. She did a very good job and was even willing to clean up a few missed hairs by the first woman. I'm not sure I think sugaring is less painful than watching (which is what I'd heard and was why I tried it) but overall it was a good experience. The interior of sugar coated is super cute! They have some items for sale inside like jewelry, sunglasses, even some clothes. It's nice to look while you wait for your appt. I had sugaring done for the first time on my face. It hurt a little less, if not the same, as waxing, but I didn't break out on my face afterwards. The technician who did my eyebrows was very detailed and took her time to achieve what I asked for. She was really friendly and communicative during the whole appointment. I have been coming here every month to get my underarms waxed. The business is super cute and stylish. Each room has a privacy curtain as well as a real wall which is nice because it makes having to get undressed a bit easier knowing your privacy is well thought of :) I always go to Megan Folsom--she's so nice and good at what she does. She has a way of talking to you to make your time with her comfortable and at ease. However, all the staff I have encountered, whether they are sugaring me, giving me a spray tan, or helping me book my next appointment, are all kind and welcoming. I also keep coming back because the results are great! Sugaring is less painful than waxing and my hair doesn't start growing back in for about 2 weeks. The value of what you pay is also a wonderful perk. Getting my underarms waxed once a month is $15. Plus! If you check in on Yelp, you get an extra $5 off a full priced service (so keep that info in your back pocket). Sugar Coated also has some monthly memberships that are worthwhile as well for waxing or spray tans. They also offer services for both women and men! I just left a sugaring French bikini session with Megan! This was my first time, and she made it very comfortable. She talked me through most of it and told me to take deep breaths before particularly painful parts. The setup was very clean and cute and she answered all my questions. She gave me a nice little hot towel at the end and I felt all good. She helped me wax off everything I wanted and went back in with me to make sure I was happy with the final result!
