Good, friendly service and reasonably priced food. The fried pickles came out hot and crisp and were our favorite part of our meal. The chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, and okra looked great, and my massive-sized Sugar Creek burger with the hefty portion of sweet potato fries had me salivating from the start. Unfortunately, the food tasted average - 3/5 stars. Because of the huge portion sizes, reasonable prices, stellar service, and outstanding fried pickles, I'd round up to 3.5 stars and have to round up to 4/5 rather than down. read more

I had the special, chicken noodle soup with corn bread. The soup was delicious, the corn bread was horrible. My wife had the Sugar Creek Salad which she said was fresh and tasty. Overall it was a good restaurant. read more

Cheeseburger was very good. Rojos were not crispy like I prefer, but were o.k. The side of broccoli florets was outstanding. The establishment is BYOB. Waitress offered a large bucket of ice to keep the beer cold. Good service. Parking is not great. Formerly a drive through bank. The bank lanes or immediately behind them appeared to be the only place to park. read more

this is a wonderful home cooking down to earth super friendly resturant. We stopped here and had a good dinner. We started with fried pickles. AMAZING!! I just had the mad sugar creek burger, and it did NOT disappoint! Smoky, jalapeño-ey, bacony, and MASSIVE!! You better come with an appetite if you order this thing! It has chipotle mayo, 1/2 pound beef patty, pepper jack cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, green chilies, jalapeños, and fried tobacco onions???!!! All wedged between 2 buns! I would give the burger 5 stars, but the fries were a disappointment. They tasted like they bought the cheap frozen fries at the grocery store, but the burger alone was plenty! UPDATE: Tonight we had dinner at the Sugar Creek Grill! The fabulous service, hospitality, change in fries, and delicious food has earned my change from a 4 star rating to a 5 star!! The owner Angel, was very quick to accommodate us by clearing tables himself, in the very crowded restaurant, and putting tables together to seat our party of 6. We waited a little while for our food, but when our food arrived, it was hot, delicious, and you could tell it was homemade! We also had desserts this time! An interesting little restaurant that appears to have been a bank in its former life. The staff is friendly and provides efficient and thoughtful service. Angel's food is unexpectedly innovative in this small town environment and was fresh and delicious. The Texas-style Cordon Bleu was yummy as was the Buffalo Chicken Burger. This town looks like a place you only come to for work and leave as quickly as possible to go somewhere-- anywhere else. I was passing through at dinner time and found this restaurant via Yelp. I figured the good reviews were probably written by locals trying to entice people to stop at a local establishment, but I couldn't have been more wrong. I live in Houston and we have plenty to choose from when it comes to burgers. This place doesn't just make the best burger in town; it makes the best burger I have ever had anywhere, bar none. When my plate arrived at the table, I had to stop to admire my sandwich's construction. I sat in awe for a few moments before I began to turn my plate to look at it from different angles so that I could formulate a detailed plan of attack. One does not consume such beautiful and monstrous things without a plan. Yes, it was really that amazing. I left somewhat convinced that the townspeople must live here just for the burgers. We eat here regularly...not sure why I've never shared on Yelp. We've had most of the menu--appetizers, burgers, tacos, steaks, chicken fried steaks, salads, and sandwiches. Be prepared for a wait, but food is delicious and portions big enough to share. Better for locals: You call in and they call you back when the food is ready. read more

See this is why yelp exists... So that hole in the wall places in the middle of nowhere can get exposure for the Gems that they are. I'll be honest Big Lake, Tx is definitely not a place I would ever venture to unless I was required to...and unfortunately I was required to. There is almost nothing here and the restaurants are extremely limited. But this little start up is fantastic. It's so good I don't know why it's here. I've been here three times and the food is top notch. Brisket tacos were off the chain!!!! If you find yourself in this town for some reason don't bother going any where else. read more

Only 2 things in Pecos make it worth spending time there 1) honest days work in the patch 2) this place Carry your own cooler of beer in and sit down for a huge menu, killer kitchen and great service. Highly recommend Sugar Creek Grill in Big Lake. My family of 6 stopped by on our way to Midland and found our new pit stop restaurant!! Great chicken fried steak, fajitas, Philly cheese steak, and Oilfield Trash is a must try if you like nachos. We were too full to try the fresh baked coconut pecan cookies or the fried cheesecake, but will definitely save room next trip.
