I checked out all the rooms, and the Robert Douglas was my favorite, followed by the Lucy Ann. Mark sent me the code for the outside entry door, which made it convenient to enter the house. The room key was in the lock on the door to our room. Breakfast the 1st day was biscuits -n- gravy, sliced potatoes, sausage and eggs. The next day was French toast casserole and bacon, and the last day was an omelette, sausage and toast. Great breakfast every morning, with coffee and orange juice. Two bottles of water were in our mini-fridge. Check out Natural Tunnel if you stay here.

He kept all the charm and managed to maintain a modern use. The neighborhood of gate city is a cute little town full of antique shops and little restaurants. The neighborhood behind the B&B is a bit run down but quite and safe. Street parking is available and (at least when we visited) they do not except card so make accommodations for cash or check. I would highly recommend this place if you are in the area.

When you arrive, Lynn will give you a tour of the place, give you instructions and your special key code to get in and out as you please, and lastly, bring you to your room. We have stayed in two different rooms and our favorite is the spacious room upstairs with the en-suite bathroom. Room amenities include: extra towels, pillows, and blankets, a fan, a white noise machine, smart T.V., luggage stand, and a binder of useful information. Each morning, Lynn serves a continental breakfast from 8-10 a.m. which includes: fresh fruit, hard boiled eggs, homemade muffins, granola bars, and oatmeal. The coffee and tea bar is always open, which I just love. I can't sing enough accolades for this beautiful bed and breakfast and its delightful host. The house has been owned by the same family for decades, and their care of it shows. The bathrooms are small, but when you consider the rooms were never intended to have them, they did well. There are only 4 rooms, so there's never a crowd. The breakfast was wonderful. Lighter fare, in 2 courses. The first fresh fruit, with a Swedish cream or a fresh lime sorbet. The second was an egg soufflé with fresh vegetables one day, with rolls and apple butter bread. The second, a bread pudding with great sides. We were staying for only one night but wish we had more time to enjoy the inn and surroundings. We thought the inn was a GREAT value for the money. We would have spent more at a standard hotel by the highway. The inn was way more relaxing, quiet and peaceful than our other options. The inn was very well decorated and did not have too many throw pillows! Our deck looked out over the river and we feel asleep listening to the river. We did not realize that there were other guests at the inn. We had all the peace and quiet we needed. I highly recommend talking to Paula about the best way to get to the inn. We planned to arrive before dark but we fell behind schedule. We relied on our smart phones but lost service coming in along some very rural roads from the north. It was a fun but crazy nighttime drive along the N. Fork River Road until we found the inn. I should have printed out a map! The inn has WiFi and was in range for our Verizon phone service. The inn has a big man cave, music room, hot tub, and lots of other amenities that we plan to enjoy when we return.

The staffs were warm and welcoming. The food was also delicious. I especially remember the spinach dip and the cobbler. Both were excellent and one of the best I've had. Overall, this place is a wonderful place to come and get away from it all. Come soak in the rich history, the beautiful view, fresh air and some awesome southern food.
