First time sugaring. Heard it was less painful, longer lasting than hard wax, and less irritating to the skin. Jury is still out on the pain level. If the hair is longer you kind of get a double pull (once when putting on, and second with removal). That said, I do have another appointment scheduled to really know for sure! Overall had a good experience. It's a private location so you just have to buzz/ring to be let in. Not sure if that's an always thing or just since COVID? I was going on vacation and wanted to get waxed prior to look my best. Tried getting in a month in advance with my go to wax girl and she was never able to get me in. So took the opportunity to try something new! I reached out to my friends about sugaring and got extremely mixed reviews from yea do it it's the best to don't it's a waste of money. Decided to go through with it any way and unfortunately for my normal wax girl, she's now lost my loyalty due to lack of availability and crystal has gained it! My sugaring experience was awesome. It hurt 726384 times less than a normal bikini wax and lasted way longer. I would get really awful redness and bumps from wax that almost made it pointless to not just shave for my bikini wearing needs. Really appreciate crystal for making my experience comfortable and enjoyable. Her space is small but does the job and the building itself is slightly confusing, FYI. I understood it was individual rental suites but wasn't sure if there was someone to check in with or what until someone else told me to walk on in. Her space is the first on the right. read more

She has been there from the start with my sugar wax journey and there is no one else I trust! Crystal is your esthetician turned into unexpected friend. Due to COVID-19 / just her life, she will be restarting her business in Oregon! Oregon will be sooo lucky to have this amazingly talented woman over there! 069 / 100 - 2017 YELP 100 CHALLENGE. CRYSTAL IS AMAZING!!! I was looking at different waxing locations near Vista and came across Sugar San Diego. I had never heard of sugaring before, so I read up on Crystal's website and did a little bit of Google-fu. She had a discount going for first time customers who wanted to get a Brazilian and seeing as how I had always wanted to try, I thought, "why not!?" Sugaring is an all-natural method of removing hair and is often compared to standard wax. A lot of people say it's a lot more gentle than standard wax, so seeing as how I wanted to get a Brazilian, I thought this would be the best route to go. I scheduled my appointment online. Super fast, super easy. The day of my appointment, Crystal texted me with some directions so that it would be easier to find her office. Really sweet and helpful of her to do that! Once I filled out the new customer form, she took me to the back and we got started. It was my first time doing this, but Crystal was totally cool about it. She walked me through each step, explained what she was doing, and so on. I'm a bit of a baby when it comes to pain, so sugaring was a little painful for me. At one point, I had to ask to take a break LOL. Crystal didn't even blink twice at that request HAHAHA. She kept me distracted by chatting with me (she's so sweet and funny!) and gave me advice/tips & tricks on aftercare. The session itself didn't take that long and she did a very thorough and fantastic job! Sugaring does get easier the more you do it, so I'll definitely be coming back. Crystal's prices are definitely fair and reasonable - especially since you don't need to come back for 4-6 weeks. Crystal does an AMAZING job every time. I go to her for my Brazilian and my underarms, I can't remember the last time I shaved them, every time it's perfection. I have only gotten a wax once. The first time was so scary that I thought I was scarred for life and never ever going to go back again. Tis bathing suit season and I definitely did not want to go to the beach or the pool a chewbacca hot mess. I made an appointment easily online (one of the reasons that attracted me as well). Crystal is a sweetheart and a complete professional. Her studio is quaint and very clean and very welcoming. She explained the difference between sugaring and waxing and I was sold - esp on the no hot wax part. I don't know if you could call me a convert since I had only waxed once before, but you can call me a sugaring supporter. I don't think I can go back to shaving (and horrid ingrowns) again. Also, whats great is Crystal is easy to talk to and just loves what she does. That's pretty hard to find these days and that's why I'm planning on definitely being a loyal customer. This is not who I normally go to for Sugar Waxing. She was able to take me last minute so I thought id give it a try. I was not impressed. I was surprised that for a Brazilian she did not know how to better handle the skin so its not as painful (ex: pulling it tight). I'm also not sure what kind of sugar wax she is using because it stuck to my skin like crazy. I felt every rip of that wax. I don't have that problem with my usual place. When I asked her to look at my underarms to see if it was long enough to wax she said its short but that she would try and wouldn't charge me. She got a few hairs but ultimately could not get a clean wax. She proceeds to tell me she will charge me $5 for her effort. SERIOUSLY?!?!? Both under arms are red and tender but the left hurts worse because she kept going over and over it. Sugar should not rip skin off like that. It has been years since I have had a bad underarm wax. She is a very pleasant person and the room itself is very nice and comfortable but she seemed to lack experience. The "know how" to accommodate each clients and their skin. This is simply my opinion and my experience. Take this w a grain of salt. I personally wont be back. I will just wait for an appointment at my usual place. read more

Crystal is the BEST! I've been seeing her for a few years now and won't ever leave because she does such an amazing job. I drive 40 minutes to see her and it's so worth it. Crystal is incredibly personable and truly cares about each of her clients; she's seen me through quite a few life changes and always offers a patient ear and kind advice. I am just in love with this place! Convenient to get to, Crystal is ridiculously nice, and makes you feel totally comfortable when you are getting worked on. I have been waxing for years, and I have to say that I am honestly totally converted. I don't know if it's just because of the great job that she does, but after only one time of being sugared here, I am completely unwilling to go elsewhere. I got the LivingSocial deal for a brazilian for only $29 (usually $60) and decided to try it out. I usually get a wax at another place but for $29 I couldn't pass it up :) The location is super convenient to me but I did have a bit of a hard time finding where it was. All the buildings look like town homes so it was hard to tell which was the business and which were just homes. I called Crystal and she was really patient with getting me directions. The room itself is very cute and cozy and Crystal explained the difference between sugar and waxing. We had a good talk while she was working away and she's very accommodating with her schedule. I will definitely be going back! I still have services that I already paid for at my waxing place but I may just go back and forth between the two places. read more

Sugaring is the best thing around for hair removal. It really, truly doesn't hurt! I've tried both waxing and threading, enduring the pain with each... one time even suffering from bleeding, raw skin. Thank goodness NO MORE! Sugar-San Diego is an "owner-operator" business.
