This is the classic hole-in-the-wall breakfast joint. The waitress was the cook and the food was sooooo good. There was a little fireplace going and a wall of mugs that have the regulars names. We will definitely be back. I got the 2x2x2 pancake, egg, bacon combo. The pancakes were fluffy and the butter creamy. The syrup was heated as well. The coffee was delicious too. My wife and I had the pleasure of eating at the Sugar Pine on our recent trip to Butte Falls. The first part of our trip was to cut a wonderful 95 year old woman's hair. Unfortunately we missed breakfast by about 10 minutes. The restaurant is very clean and the ambiance was friendly and a great place for the locals to gather. Our waitress was Melissa and she welcomed us and made us feel at home the whole time. We met a couple of the cafe's regulars when we were having lunch. A little about me - I traveled on the road for over 25 years and have eaten many many burgers over that time. I had the Logger burger basket with onion rings. I requested no lettuce or tomato just their condiments and a slab of onion. I can count on one hand the best burgers I have consumed and the Logger was exceptional, cooked perfectly, the right amount of condiments and very very juicy. I will have to say it is in the top 3 burgers I have eaten. We will make a special trip back to have breakfast next time and my next burger there will be the Cory Burger. read more

A long-time little restaurant, one of two, in the former mill town that now survives on loggers, Forest Service District Office, ranchers and visitors. The lumber mill and the fish hatchery are gone and the kindergarten through high school probably is the biggest employer. I came here to beat the heat on the Rumble Bee following the Cascade Mountain loop: Hwy. 140, Hwy. 871 and then on to Prospect and back on Hwy. 62. My lunch was hamburger-veggie soup, grilled cheese sandwich and iced tea. Nothing fancy but a satisfying lite lunch. The restaurant is clean and friendly but I ordered my plate and when I got it they had condiments that I can not have. I had asked that they don't put them on but still they did not get my order right. Because this is the only restaurant in town open on this day. The owner is really rude and gossipy! An individual was in the restaurant and was asked to either do something or move over to another chair. She was rude and really harsh with the person in a full restaurant and did not be nice about the situation. With owners like that no wonder the business is not doing good Well today was the last draw with this restaurant. Nice family owned business. I go there every time I come through Butte Falls, which is a couple times a year. The food has stayed consistent since Cory, the owner has owned it. It is clean and sanitary. We loved the burgers and the milkshakes are true diner shakes. My kids are super picky about their burgers and the Sugar Pine passes their test. I read through some bad reviews and it sounds like those people have a grudge. Dont believe it! Cory always is hosting fun outside food events during holidays and has live music during the summer. It is the perfect place to eat if you on your way to Lake of the Woods or Crater Lake or even Fish Lake! Check it out. It better food than you'll find further up the road. If you need wifi the sugar pine has it. Cell reception can be sketchy based on my last visit so it's nice for a little place to offer wifi. read more
