Absolutely outstanding food and service. You won't find anything better in the valley, and I've been here since 2008. Today I was in a rush and wanting a to-go order, and it took a little longer than I'd have liked for the host so I walked out. I was on the phone and said, "I'm not getting service," to my employee. A man who was sitting down outside with two others stood up and explained he was the owner and had to make it right. I explained it wasn't a big deal and that I was in a rush, but he and his wife insisted on making it right. So they had their Chef make a quick to-go order and we sat and chatted. I felt a little embarrassed because it really wasn't a big deal, but we ended up having a lovely conversation and the host came out and apologized. They refused to accept any cash and sent me back to work with a delicious meal in time to prepare for my 1pm. You don't find service like that anymore and I'll of course keep coming back. read more

From the 5 dollar side of avocado where they give you an 1/8 of an avocado at most to the pathetic overall portion sizes. A 21 dollar blta! With 2 strips of bacon and 1/8 of an avocado ? Really ? The service ? An absolute nightmare from an inexperienced kid that would be better qualified to operate a frier at your local fast food joint. Ask for garlic on fries ? Sure that'll be a 1 dollar up charge, what comes out is a dash of garlic powder! Really ? Ask your server hey is the chicken white or dark ? Dark he says , then come to find it's white! The interior and exterior of Gather is lovely with lots of natural light and very comfortable chairs. It has a beautiful loft with more comfortable places to sit and enjoy their lightly spice-forward masala chai latte. Service was great from everyone that we encountered. Sadly, the food is ordinary. Came here with my fiancé and his parents after a weekend in Ashland for OSF. He and I are vegan and his parents aren't so we're always grateful for places that have great options for both. I had the tofu pesto sandwich, which was simple and fresh. The fries on the side were so perfect and crispy. Service was great, and it wasn't very busy so we were helped right away. I've had takeout from Gather many times, and I've always been impressed by their food. Tonight, my husband and I had dinner in their restaurant. My husband was negligent in not making a reservation. The dining area was full, so they seated us at a two top next to the restroom and staff door. No one should ever be seated there; in fact, a table has no business being there. Our waitress picked up on my dismay, and she moved us as quickly as possible to another table as soon as it became open. The food was fantastic as always. Service was good but slow. If you want ice in your water, you must ask for it. If you're expecting a Mediterranean vibe, forget it. It's more grandma's house. The food here is so tasty. The menu is quite diverse with Mediterranean, Indian & American choices. We had a bit of each. The butter chicken was delightful, could have used a bit more chicken though. I would love to give Gather Cafe a 5 star for the service alone, but this was the second time I have been disappointed in their food. I ordered the Mediterranean Salad with Falafel Balls ($14) , not the tiny, tiny flattened pieces of overfried something I couldn't describe. What a disappointment. my friend and I went here for lunch and it was super cute cottage aesthetic. The furniture has like embroidered benches for seating. The wine selection is so minimal, but the entrées were great. It could use some bathroom indicators because the waist staff was minimal to ask questions. There were only two servers for a full restaurant on a Friday afternoon. The hostess was nice, but our server was a bit absent and chilled at the bar/barista stand a lot. We left full and happy which was a success! read more

I loved the falafel sandwich, which had great pickles, small falafels that were crispy and chewy (not huge and dried out, like you get at most places), and the red pepper sauce was super tasty. Cute little place for lunch! Really helpful, good humored staff -- I was wondering what "spicy" meant since spice perception is different from person to person and was embarrassed to ask, but she sensed my feelings and straightforwardly said it meant "Oregon white people spicy" with a laugh. And all in all pretty good food (I was skeptical at first because they had such a large menu, but they delivered). For starters I got the Mexican shrimp -- the sauce was REALLY yummy and I liked the cumin seasoning on the shrimp breading (I thought the cornmeal made the breading a bit tough but liked the crunch a lot so it wasn't too bad). It was enough to share with a party of four. For my main I ordered the chicken biryani (I ordered spicy, but it tasted like a regular biryani at any Indian restaurant if this helps another fellow eater who's wondering what the spice level is) and was QUITE pleased that it wasn't dry! Flavorful and satisfying, like a warm hug on the insides! The little sauce that came along with it was sweet and creamy and balanced the heat of the rice perfectly! 10/10 My friends ordered the Mediterranean Bowl (I tasted some, it was aite, nothing to write home about), the Southern Chicken Sandwich (took a nibble, was okay) and the Fish and Chips (light crispy breading on the fish, but didn't like the fish texture, felt a little mushy; the fries were ok). All in all I've gotta say that the sauces here are the best part of the menu, and I do recommend the biryani. read more

My husband and I took the grandkids to gather last Friday evening. It was hot so we chose to be seated inside. There is a large covered outdoor seating area as well. The wait staff were very friendly and the atmosphere relaxed. Everyone seemed to be enjoying the food and drink. We ordered drinks, my husband had the Margarita and I ordered a White Negroni. Delicious! The best was the rock of ice in the Negroni, nice touch. The kids had lemonade which was not overly sweet. The kids menu is diverse. They ordered stir fry and grilled cheese with tomato soup. They loved their meals. We ordered Korean Pulled Pork and Cilantro Salmon. The pork came with kimchi. My husband was so impressed, he loved the combination. My Cilantro Salmon was excellent. We are planning to return to try some of the smaller dishes. And maybe a new cocktail. New staff completely Rude! I'm so bummed to have to write this review but I'm am literally in shock with what I just heard. I have been going to this location since I've lived here in the town of talent. (About 6 years now, when it was talent cafe). I understand things change and when I saw there was new owners and a new RESTURANT I decided to go local and support my town. I've been in a couple times and tbh mostly for their breakfast burritos and coffees. It was super convenient having a breakfast spot and coffee house local. I was happy to see that they were keeping some things like the coffee machine and offering breakfast. I've gone in for dinner before and it was good. This morning my fiancé asked me if I'd like a coffee or anything to eat and it had been awhile since we have been into gather so I suggested this place. He walked in to the front like usual and tried to order two coffees and a breakfast burrito. The lady behind the counter very rudely replied "we are a resturant, the coffee shack is behind us. Haven't you heard?!" He replied oh I'm sorry I actually wanted a burrito as well. Her response was "we don't do those!" He then asked oh is it the same owners who own the coffee shack and restaurant? Her reply was "yes it's the same purveyor" in a snooty voice.... Um last I checked lady you work in customer service. If your having a bad day do not take it out on your customers! Secondly if people are coming in and asking for a service that has changed don't make them feel dumb or inadequate for asking when there's no way for us to be notified that your business has made an internal change! Third last I checked you need customers money to stay open so going back to my first point maybe you should work on your customer service skills a little more so that you stay in business. The girl at the coffee stand was a pleasure and super nice..... so maybe take a page out of her book read more

Favorite new place to go as a vegetarian. My wife and I got the Buddha Bowl and Zen Bowl. Both were excellent. Our appetizer was the cauliflower with sweet and sour sauce. Recommend reserving a table as the winter approaches. We were able to eat outside despite no room inside, but those days are numbering with cooler days/nights ahead. Highly recommend!!! read more
