What a sweet little gem! I was directed here by a client that grew up in the area. She recommended that I try the carrot cake squares and she did not lead me wrong. Delish!!! The whole time that we were there, this quaint takeout bakery was getting consistent foot traffic in their Brentwood (Wilson) location. I have to start by saying... Best pimento cheese you've ever had in your life. I get a half pimento cheese, half chicken salad sandwich on white bread with a cupcake for dessert. Both the pimento cheese and chicken salad are homemade at their downtown location, and are both ridiculously good. The cupcake is great as well with homemade icing and little flower on top. Cute. You can get a boxed lunch with your choice of sandwich, chips or pretzels, a deviled-egg, and your choice of one of their many delicious homemade desserts. I seriously need to learn to carry cash around in this town... because Sugar Plum Shoppe is another spot CA$H ONLY! Sugar Plum is a very small shop in Brentwood shopping center, and it's a very peculiar shop. You walk in, and immediately see stacks of boxes sitting on tables to the side. I'll explain what these are in a few minutes. Also you see a glass display case with desserts, and right behind that is the heart of the operation, a small kitchen filled with some of nicest ladies you will ever meet. Getting food here is like getting a lunch box from your own kitchen made by your mom. There is no menu here, because the menu is simple: you pick a sandwich of your flavor; and then you pick a bag of pretzels or chips; and then you pick whether you want pasta salad or a small bag of dill pickle spears; and lastly but most importantly (to me) you pick a sweet treat from the glass case. You can choose among chicken salad or turkey or pimento cheese; I personally like the chicken salad because they use a bit extra dill relish in the mix and it gives a little sweeter taste. As far as sweet treats goes, all of their cupcakes and cookies and carrot cakes and single-serving pecan pies are good. You can't go wrong there. **PERK** Since Sugar Plum is at the end of the shopping building, they actually run a drive-thru window; although you get just the service just as quickly in-store because these ladies operate on high efficiency. I'm so glad I found this hidden gem in Wilson! I have been there quite a few times for lunch. The chicken salad and pimento cheese sandwiches are awesome. The desserts are even better! The chocolate cheesecake brownie is to die for!!!!! read more
