I have gone to Amyjo's many times. I was recommended by a friend because she thought the food was good. I agree, it is good food. However, I went in the drive thru line on Friday and had a bad experience. When I got there, there was one car in front of me and another car beside the car in front of me waiting for their order. After I was parked, a truck pulled up beside me and another truck later pulled behind me. When the gentleman came out to take orders, although my car was first, he passed by my car and took the order from the truck beside me, walked behind my car and took the order from the truck behind me and proceeded back in the restaurant. I tooted my horn to let him know I was there. He slightly turned around and said "you don't have to blow your horn." I sat there for a few minutes before I put my car in drive and started leaving. By that time, the gentleman was coming out the restaurant door, looked at me and said, "see you". The gentleman serving and the two gentlemen in the trucks were white and I am black. Don't know that had anything to do with it, but it was certainly not how I expected to be served. Judy S. read more

Best hoop cheese biscuits I've ever had!! Fist time here and I would highly recommend.

This is real southern cooking and homemade food. Real scratch made biscuits that are NOT dry and some handmade sausage patties, this is the place to go. My go-to from here is the 'Stacker'. It's an open face biscuit topped with overeasy eggs, 2 sausage patties and some delicious sausage gravy and a side of home fries. The pancakes here are pretty damn good too. It's a little over an hour away from me but it's still my favorite breakfast restaurant to go to. 10/10 would recommend!! read more

There were three people in our party and all three of us got sick after eating at Amy Jo's. I did not eat even half of the food on my plate because it tasted "off." I had a vegetable plate to be healthy. Fried apples were cold, potato salad was "different", and French fries were cold and soggy. My brother and sister both had BBQ pork special. They both got sick too. The only thing all three of us had was sweet tea. The tea tasted good but I wonder now how often the urn is thoroughly cleaned. I will not be eating there again. read more

The drive up needs to get better!!!! Definitely not Flo's!! And with Flo's you order when you get there and it's ready when You get to the window. Also I hate the guy always asking for a tip!!! The lady never ask for a tip and I always tip her for sure. You need 2 women In drive up that have great attitudes like the one you have and not like the guy!! The food is great at times and ok at times! When they get the order right it sure makes it better!! Got a lot of work to do!! read more

Instant mashed potatoes, jar gravy, stove top stuffing. I expect more from a dinner that proclaims "home cooking" style food. They don't even have real butter, it's a butter substitute with very little actual butter flavor. Disappointing. What diner doesn't even peel their own mashed potatoes? Plastic forks, spoons, & knives. Styrofoam plates and cups. Seat yourself, go to counter and order food and drinks and get your own condiments....No wait staff, so get your own refill. By far the best breakfast in Wilson. I've been working in the area for 3 months and this place hits all the marks for excellent eggs, hot coffee, and some of the best sausage gravy I have ever had - sorry mom. Yes they use plastic plates and hardware, and yes you have to get your own condiments, but your food comes out hot to your table before your coffee has time to cool down enough to take a drink. Below average breakfast place; will not return The ham was so salty, it will fill your week's allowance for sodium. The sausage link was similar. Grits were good, and over easy eggs were done as ordered. Biscuits and gravy decent. Veggie omelette was too wet. Coffee was ok. Menu limited to basic country breakfast foods. Service was probably as good as it could be as crowded as they were. Definitely no social distancing here! read more

One star for the server trying to get us butter ( the real thing!) for our pancake. Unsuccessfully - only margarine or its other incarnation was available. The same happened when we ask for maple syrup - "maple flavored" only. But that is not the worst; for the first time in my life I had scrambled eggs I needed a knife to cut, lol! Wow, guys, please save some stove heat energy. And with money saved hire a person that can follow simple recipe for soft and pillowy scrambled eggs. You won't regret the investment. Ok, next comes coffee. Hmm, more like delicately flavored coffee water. With so much good coffee around how have you managed to create that cult niche of long abandoned xtra lite coffee concept of 1980' s? Went Sunday go breakfast. 5 in party. This is first time I have been in over five years. Food was bad then and has not improved. Service was bad at last visit and has had little improvement. Waitress had an attitude that expressed the thought of why are you bothering me and acted like she was irritated when we did not order fast enough. My wife got a biscuit that was as hard as a hockey puck. When she asked for toast instead she got a hard look from the waitress. Toast was bought and almost thrown on the table. Our waitress never came by and asked if everything was ok. Someone else did come for refills. Food was so so. It was cold. I got an omelette. Never saw on so flat. It was overcooked. Coffee was served in styrofoam cups. Reading some of the other comments leads me to believe some people will accept mediocrity. We will not be back. read more

One of the best country restaurants in town with home cooked food! When they are busy it may a little bit of a wait but the service is usually pretty good. They also have to-go orders if you need to call ahead then pickup & pay when you get there. read more

Went to grab takeout for lunch. Im not a regular customer and have not been in a few months. The walk in takeout area remains closed. Someone comes to car to take your order. I was informed about the lunch specials of the day. It would have been nice to have been able to see a menu for a full listing of lunch options. I ordered the spaghetti lunch special. The service was quick. The food tasted ok, was freshly prepared. I did have higher hopes of a homemade type sauce, maybe it was, but seemed like canned sauce. In my opinion, the serving size seemed quite small for the price of $9.98 for a spaghetti lunch special. It came with a piece of toasted bread and a small side salad. I'll chalk it up to a poor ordering choice. Again, I think I would have been more satisfied if I could have ordered from a menu. read more

This place is the perfect southern spot for an amazing breakfast at even more amazing prices. We had a party of 8 and the table was easily moved to accommodate our large party. The servers were attentive even though the dining room was full. Very clean. No it's not fancy - plastic tableware and plates but my goodness the food was so good and our bill totaled $65. Went for lunch and it was great! I had tenderloin in gravy with mashed potatoes and green beans. My husband had pork chops , mashed potato and green bean. Everything was great! Going to go back on Friday evening for fish. I heard they have good seafood. Since we really don't have a seafood restaurant worth going to we are going to try here Friday evening! read more

Recently had a very disappointing breakfast here. Ordered a ham & cheese omelette with biscuit.. eggs were flat, overcooked til brown, and inside was some chopped up sandwich ham (like the cheap stuff from Walmart) & some forgettable cheese. If I could rate Amy Jo's 0 stars, I would. But, unfortunately, the lowest you can rate is 1 star. Don't ever ask for a chicken and cheese biscuit because it will come out as a chicken patty and cheddar cheese on a biscuit. Yes, a chicken patty. Do you remember when you had school lunches and they plopped that disgusting piece of hard old chicken on your plate? That's exactly what this biscuit was like. This is my favorite homestyle cooking restaurant in Wilson. The food is delicious & they have good portion sizes. The only drawback is the hours they're open, it changes frequently. It would be nice if they were open more evenings. read more
