a glass of beer on a wooden table

Walked over here while waiting for a table at Moondog. Pros: tons of outdoor seating, super cheap drinks ($4 drafts, $4 cocktails) Cons: inside is extremely loud and crowded, saw some questionable activities from those hanging around lol. Would definitely recommend sitting outside here and popping inside for a drink refill.

Stopped in for a few bevvies on a Sat afternoon, off season and were pleasantly pleased by the friendly staff and full bar. Some of the regulars teased us a bit upon entering, because obviously we weren't "from around har", but that just made the experience better. The day was nice so we parked under the brellies on the front porch and watched the day mosey on by. I couldn't understand that the ONLY business pic for this place was someone's hairy leg, so I added some more, including a hairy leg from our group in case that's a SugarShack Schtick.

Fun casual atmosphere with great entertainment. People are very friendly and the beer is cold. What more can you ask for.

Easy going place. Good prices. Good mix of salty dogs, fancy lads and country folks.

Was yelled at about 5 seconds after waking in the door. Walked right out. We'll spend our money elsewhere, thanks.

Unfortunately, none of it really gelled into a commendable experience and now here we are. The first thing we noticed when we walked in was a funky smell, which is probably understandable since it's a dive bar. The roach on the wall and the lack of a bathroom (The bathrooms are in the hip hop bar next door, which is accessible through a shared door) could have also been forgiven if they had that redeeming feature that most dive bars had -- cheap, strong drinks. But unfortunately, Rehab fails in this department and fails really hard. We ordered two $15 pitchers -- first a long island iced tea and then later a blue hawaiian -- and both were disappointingly weak and way too sweet. Apparently, the only way to get drunk in this joint was to walk over to the adjoining hip hop bar and drink it up over there first before trying your hand at drunk karaoke. Ugh. As for the karaoke itself, they had basically any song you can think of (thanks to the DJ being able to pull them off of YouTube if needed) but good luck ever getting to sing unless you knew him or were a regular. I waited over an hour for my first song; and for my second song -- after asking him respectfully how many others were ahead of me so I could keep track of my turn and being told there the number was 7 -- I waited another half hour for seven singers to finish, only for him to announce 5 more singers before he somehow remembered me. At that point it was only 20 more minutes before 2 am so we decided to cut our losses and head home. Really unfortunate, Rehab, since your patrons were quite friendly and it really wouldn't have taken much to at least make it a decent experience for us. But as it stands, there are definitely much better places to spend your time and your money. Move along from here.

We almost walked away, but the extroverted, inebriated blonde coaxed us to come in so... we started drinking and taking turns singing. There's no danger of anybody there winning "The Voice" or "X Factor", but that didn't prevent us from having a blast. As more people started popping in, the variety of talent spread out, from some rather good singers to chalkboard scratchers. There was quite a wide mix of music here, from rock and hip hop to Tejano and country. Quite literally, this is the kind of place where anyone can fit in, even a fat fuck like me who was a teenager in the 70's (although I was able to overcome the image problem with my deep sexy baritone). Around midnight, a flood of young people filled out the place, so we decided to call it a night, but not before I sang my rendition of "You Never Even Called Me By My Name", in which I jokingly asked the crowd to please rise for the Texas National Anthem, LOL. If you're not from Texas, you won't understand. Anyway, next time I stop in Corpus, I definitely plan to visit again. I hope they're still in business - things don't look so sweet for downtown Corpus. So don't be shy, grab a mike and have a blast!
