We bought ice cream for our kids and grandkids and there was an error made with one of the cones. They gave us a flavor we did not order and then charged us $2.00 for the correct flavor. They just put it on top of the flavor we did not want. We asked for a cup to scoop out the original flavor they gave us and they charged us .25 for the cup. After spending more than $25.00 on ice cream, to correct the error with the flavor we wanted would not have cost much. Isn't the customer always right. Not good business practice. read more

I would give NO stars if I was able! Absolutely ridiculous that whole my whole family is standing in line to order, my daughter asked to use the bathroom (9 years old) and was told no, because she hadn't paid for her food first. After expressing that I know its for customers and we were literally getting ice cream as we spoke, the employee proceeded to tell us we could use the porto potty outside. DISGUSTING!!!! Can we say "I'm greedy and only care about money"????? Needless to say, after decades of being a customer here, I will no longer be spending my money in this business. Was in town for a weekend getaway with my family and decided to stop in after dinner for some ice cream. Ordered a shake for my wife and I and a scoop of Superman ice cream for my kids. Both the shake and my kids scoop were freezer burned and taste like something you'd buy from a dirty gas station. Horrible ice cream and very trashy and rude owner and staff. This store is such a gem! The products they carry range from old school candy like Lemonheads and Red Hots, to some of the newer novelties. They carry delicious ice cream, malls & shakes and have a small, but airy eating area to enjoy them. The staff are young and attentive and have been so patient with my indecisive kiddo that they should win a plaque, medal or a fountain dedicated in their honor. As we walked up the door a biker looking guy screamed "homo" at someone driving down the street. Six inches from my face. Imagine my surprise when I realize the girl by his side is actually the counter girl. Not only does she not acknowledge the breach of decorum that has just occurred as she looked idiotically on, she continues to operate in the place like she's a bartender in some biker bar out of some 80s movie and not some ice cream parlor in nowhere's-ville, USA that looks like Barbie and Betty Boop threw up all over the place. Her coworker seemed capable, human, friendly, and generally like he was making an effort but he was unable to overcome her moody psychosis which she wielded around like an axe. I couldn't decide if this psycho girl with the delinquent boyfriend was single-handedly bringing down the vibe of the place or if it was that and the music being too loud or if that's just how Racine is, since I've never really spent much time in Racine before. It seemed cute when I walked in but it ended up being so weird and awkward that I'm not sure I want to return to Racine, let alone this ice cream parlor. It was not a friendly experience. This place was very Unsanitary, rude and very disrespectful! After seeing my ice cream being served by someone handling money multiple times with no gloves and then served it to my kids, clearly not washing his hands or sanitizing em in between, I said something but was told by the "person in charge " , which keep in mind looked like he was 12, told me that they don't have to wear gloves or masks so he wouldn't give me my money back or remake my ice creams!!! Granted it was only a few bucks but come on man?! You made me get cash from the atm since you don't accept debit and then make my ice creams with your dirty hands?!! I'm sorry but god knows who else's money you touched in between and no one noticed it! Clearly have no respect your own health or anyone's else's at that!! Went to Sugar Shack today to get some retro candy. 3 people working and no one to wait on me so I grab the gum I was purchasing and went to check out. As I am standing at the checkout they ask if someone else needed help. I stated that I was ready to check out. They then yelled at me for grabbing my own gum. I let them know I was helping them since there were 3 people there and no one to wait on me. I received a Long lecture. I just wanted gum. Will NEVER go back. I go to Sugar Shack almost every week and a while ago someone by the name of Charlie was hired. Every time I visit while he's working the service is even more excellent than usual- he gives me the perfect amount of ice cream. Overall, I love the store and the decorations and the food; it's perfectly old-fashioned. I will continue coming here for a long time. read more
