Scratch ice cream is delicious! So many fun flavors to try. I've had their ice cream before from the cart that will be at different events and the pints you can buy at Groppi's but this was my first time actually at their ice cream shop. They have a couple locations, we were in west Allis. The west Allis location shares a building with a burger space so there is very much a diner feel. I really liked that they had napkin holders on all the tables as I can get a bit messy when eating ice cream. Definitely grab some scratch ice cream!

Stopped by Scratch Ica Cream on a recent hot summer's eve. The shop is adjoined with Archie's (50's style burger spot and bar). We had dinner at Archie's and decided to hop over to Scratch Ice Cream for dessert. Their decor matches Archie's (50's flare) and is reminiscent of an old 50's soda fountain. I got a single scoop of caramel oreo ice cream in a cup. It's exactly as it sounds: caramel ice cream with crushed oreo cookies throughout. Seriously? What's not to love? The ice cream is creamy dreamy decadence. They have 8-10 ice cream options, so a bit on the smaller side. But my dining companion and I were both able to find flavors we were excited about. Get to it!

This place is adorable, paired next to Archie's flat top. It has the old school dinner feel and decor to match. They rotate the ice cream flavors often. I tried the "coffee and toffee" and my partner got "fudge brownie cookie dough", the coffee and toffee was very buttery and creamy with pops of toffee. The fudge brownie cookie dough was loaded with toppings, can't ask for much more.

We love Scratch ice cream!!! So many fun flavors and a big freezer full of pints to take home. The first time we visited Scratch, we picked up a few pints to go. Mint chip, cold brew & toffee, birthday cake, and door county cherry. All of the flavors were a big hit, but the cold brew & toffee was my personal favorite. Our second time getting ice cream was dessert after Archie's burgers. I love the ease of ordering burgers and ice cream for the perfect meal! It's got a fun 50's diner vibe for casual dining. The people working are always helpful and polite! They never get annoyed with me for getting samples ;) There are vegan options which I haven't tried, but heard are delicious. I suggest going now so you can try out the pumpkin pie flavor I had the other night--YUM!

While the burgers are a great choice, my personal favorite is the grilled cheese. I also love taking home a quart or half-gallon of custard every few weeks--it keeps well in the freezer and is perfect to enjoy later. One thing to know before you go is that there isn't any indoor seating. Since it's more of a grab-and-go spot, the waiting area can get pretty crowded, especially during the colder months. Despite that, it's absolutely worth the visit. I would highly recommend Kopp's to anyone visiting the Milwaukee area!

Having tried them for the first time, I have to say, I can completely understand why they would say that, even without prior knowledge. I could definitely see the potential from the first bite of the burger. Patties were cooked right and gave me pleasant feeling of decent bite, except for being a bit bland. Buns definitely did not add anything to the totality of the burger, staying consistent with what everyone says. Made me wonder what kind of buns they used to use that made it better. Did not care for the soggy, green leafy part of lettuce they shoved into it. Like a normal person, I prefer a bit of crunch in my burger lettuce, but it did nothing but take away from the experience. I was sold on the idea of fried onions, but my onions didn't look or feel fried. Maybe my expectations were different on what fried onions meant? I was imagining deep fried battered onions, but maybe what I got was non-battered fried onions. Either way, it didn't leave any impression. I think I also made the mistake of asking for ketchup and mustard without specifically asking just how much. My burger ended up being too sour due to too much of both. I think I read on their website somewhere that I was supposed to be able to taste the specialness of their Wisconsin cheese, but everything else about the burger was so overpowering that I barely could tell if there was any cheese at all. Fries were SUPER soggy from the get go. I *only* brought the bad outside to open it immediately after grabbing them, so it wasn't like they stayed in the bag long enough to get soggy. Now.. having said all that. Custards were amazing! Definitely at the top of my list of frozen custards I've had thus far. The girl at the counter had me try both the daily specials and both were super good. So good that I'll probably drive my girls an hour out here just to buy them custards, especially as it gets warmer. If it were just for burgers and fries, I might have given them two stars. But since the name of the institution is Kopp's Frozen Custard, I'm more inclined to be a bit forgiving.. I had them at 3 stars originally, but I think I'll bump it up to 4, landing them personally at 3.5.

We had their fries and each of today's lemonade flavors (strawberry and blue raspberry). Their lemonades are what you need on a hot day. They pair perfectly with the food and it was a little slice of summertime heaven sipping on those sweet drinks. The fries are second to none. Waffle-style, hot, crispy as can be, and seasoned so perfectly that you don't even need ketchup. They give you some just in case, though. The Big Lebowski is my wife's favorite. She usually gets it and always loves it. The Up in Smoke was an architectural marvel of delicious engineering. Beyond burger, cheese, pickle, onions, and lettuce, topped with the nicest barbecue sauce you'll ever meet, perfectly smoky bacon, and the crispiest onion rings you'll ever run into. I skipped the tomato, as I have a philosophical disagreement with eating them. Each bite of the burger sent me soaring through fluffy clouds of culinary nirvana. How could each bite be as good as the last? As unbelievable as it may be, it's true. You literally savor each and every bite. Sitting on their patio on a sunny summer day and eating the best burger and fries you've ever had, while quenching your thirst with that perfect lemonade, is what summers in Milwaukee were made for. Not to mention their Milwaukee-themed burger mural inside! This is a place that simply cannot be beaten. I could go on, but I need to get back here just as soon as I can.

I had the pleasure to see the venue in action at Yelp Elite Holiday Party. The menu included charcuterie, pizza, ice cream, mulled wine, and glitter bombs. Now, before you think none of that sounds amazing stop and pause. The charcuterie had some of the most amazing cheeses I've tasted in a while and the portions were very generous. I actually thought that was the party food for the night and was quite satisfied with my little serving when I noticed pizza was being served. The pizza was absolutely delicious. I tried the sausage and the pepperoni with jalapenos. I usually don't like pepperoni. This was fabulous! It had a job of sweetness to it and the tiny pepperonis weren't bitter and overpowering. The jalapenos added just a little punch and the slice was perfectly balanced. I truly enjoyed it and I haven't enjoyed pizza since college back in the 1980's! We were treated to a cotton candy glitter puff to drop in our warm mulled wine. I'm adventurous so I tried it! I enjoyed the beverage but I'm not sure if the cotton candy added anything to the drink. It was super sweet but I LOVE super sweet wine so that was fine by me! The fact that the beverage was warm made it perfect in my opinion. The glitter bomb part -- I'm not so are about. It was something to do. I don't think I understood the instructions or maybe I didn't understand what was supposed to happen. I did, however, love the drink. I think this is one of the most charming venues in town. It's available for rental and the business owners can cater your event. We got a taste of what they can do so I can only imagine what's available when they roll out the carpet for their customers. Drop in access check this spot out. It's charming and cozy. Bring a few of your BFFs -- order the mulled wine and pepperoni pizza. Stay for the ice cream. Laugh, talk, take pictures and create memories at Everyone's Table in West Allis.
