Was in town for the weekend visiting family. Saw the name "Sandy's Popper" as we were driving by and asked for the car to be stopped so we could go check it out. The place smells amazing right when you walk in! Cute popcorn shop with a ton of different flavors to pick from. Along with icecream flavors and miscellaneous candy treats. They will make it fresh for you as well- thank you Tom! He was very kind answering all of our questions and making a customer feel like a customer (not always something you receive these days). It was hard to only pick a few popcorns to bring home with me, but I ended up purchasing the s'mores and cheese and caramel blend, and impulse purchased the chocolate turtle at checkout. I appreciate how samples of the popcorn are out as well. Everything was fantastic and this will be a must stop for me when I'm in Kenosha! read more

I asked for fresh popcorn and it was a problem. I was the only customer they were sitting down comfortably. The store wasn't closing for another hour but I was told a bag was popped not even 15 minutes ago. I live in the area and normally walk around the corner and get a fresh bag of hot popped popcorn. I also was told that it would take 15 minutes to make. A popcorn store needs 15 minutes to make popcorn. It was a gift I said no problem. Waited. Paid but several items and when we got home in walking distance the popcorn was STALE. Yeahhh I will never go back or recommend again 15 years of being a patron in the community interesting outcome. read more

Best popcorn and ice cream shop in Wisconsin! I absolutely love the huge variety of flavors for both, and love the vibe of the store. Always feels full of history and is very homey. I've also never had a problem with the service myself, I go in, order what I want, they give it to me and I'm on my way. Nothing wrong with that. Love the new shop as well, so happy that it's bigger and there's more seating for customers, because I do like staying for a bit to eat my ice cream. Overall the new shop is much more accessible and feels how Sandy's Popper should feel again and I'm so excited it's even closer to home; I can walk to the new location now! The shop is actually two storefronts W/ a few colorful tables/chairs for seating. Featuring: many popcorn flavor combinations, Ice cream, huge lollipops & unique merchandise. I'm excited about the merchandise & decor. The popcorn is prepackaged/label details Flavor or Flavor Combination. I purchased the popcorn "Caramel/Cheese Mix" & The "Old Fashioned Kettle Corn." And "Birthday Cake" Ice Cream. All fresh/tasty. The Kettle Corn has a wonderful sweet/salty flavor w/creamy butter notes. This shop came highly recommended and it didn't disappoint. I ordered the Windy City Mix and Mint Chocolate Chip popcorn. Both were tasty and fresh the customer service was great and I look forward to trying other items in the future. TIP: The shop does close at 7PM. read more

So I posted about how their staff does not wear masks nor do they make customers on a post advertising their masks on Facebook, and they deleted the post itself and blocked me from their entire Facebook page. Pretty shitty on their part. Someone called them out for violating the Governor's order and current health codes and they try to bury the evidence. As others have said, this is probably the best ice cream and popcorn you'll find in the area without going to Madison, Milwaukee, or Chicago. The shop is nicely decorated with a very strong smell of sweets. Prices are reasonable and the staff is super friendly and attentive. The cedar crest ice cream they stock here is full of nice add-ins and has a nice light flavor with a creamy texture. At only $2.49 for a generously sized single scoop, you can't complain about what you're getting. As others have said, the popcorn is probably the closest you'll find to Garrett popcorn here (more like Poppycock) and is great to snack on if you're taking a stroll along the harbor. With the good prices, tons of variety in popcorn and ice cream, and a great staff -- I'll definitely be back on my next visit to Kenosha. read more

If you're looking for some snacks, either sweet or salty, this is definitely a cute place to check out. They serve Chocolate Shoppe ice cream which is some of my FAVORITE ice cream as it's packed with flavor. I love that they have 5 flavor sampler (5 mini scoops) for indecisive ol' me who can never pick just one or two flavors. They have a few small tables and chairs to sit and eat, but I can imagine it gets busy on the weekends in the summer. Will definitely have to come back to try the popcorn!! read more

I love YELP, don't you? Not just for practical reasons. YELP can be so entertaining. Read ALL the reviews for this place, there isn't another place in Wisconsin with a higher cute-per-review ratio. Almost every person experiencing this place and reviewing it has to use the word, cute, to describe it. Darn it. It is cute. It's a cute candy and popcorn shop. The second most common adjective here is, addicting. No matter what size bag I get, the caramel corn does not make it home. Location is good, ignore all good medical and dental advice and get a Chicago style hot dog next door, come over here and get some flavored popcorn or ice cream or both, go across the street to get the next size up in underwear as you will need it if you keep visiting here. Very close to some interesting museums and a pretty lakefront, the only drawback is this place is filled with children. So cute from a distance, so annoying, sticky and full of germs up close. The problem with 21st century children is 21st century parenting, but what are you going to do, it's an ice cream shop. read more

Icecream was WAY too soft. Young employees knew this when they scooped it on my daughter's cone. Over $3/scoop for that? The young employees need customer service skills. No "hello" or "how can I help you?" One girl gave a smirk as if she didn't understand me. I would hope Sandy or a manager would have been there to oversee operations. Super fresh and so good, just typing this review makes me wish I had a bag of it! Customer service was great too! I just moved to Kenosha and plan to be a regular at this store! This place legitimately makes me angry. Once I start eating their popcorn, I can't stop. It's way too good and it's just not fair. Seriously though, their popcorn and ice cream is phenomenal. Check out their specialty flavors, especially "Rebel Yell" (heads up: a little spicy, but not bad). Best place to go for dessert if you happen to be in downtown Kenosha for a bite to eat! While their popcorn selection is second to none in the area, I really rave about their ice cream! Service at Sandy's is always friendly! Every time I've gone in I've been greeted with a smile, and the staff don't mind accommodating all kinds of requests when it comes to serving. For example, I love their malted milk balls, so I like to switch the cherry on top of their sundaes for one sometimes. The servings are huge for the prices! Neither I nor anyone I've taken to Sandy's has ever complained of leaving on an empty stomach. The ice cream itself is tasty; it's made by Cedarcrest here in Wisconsin, and there are all kinds of unique flavors (Pirate's Booty? Black Magic?) that stay all year round, then seasonal flavors, like Fourth of July ice cream with Pop Rocks mixed in. Overall, I think Sandy's is the best place for ice cream in Kenosha! Great place to stop by for a snack. We came in after having lunch next door at Trolley Dogs and was pleasantly surprised with the decor, ice cream, and popcorn offerings. I bought a bag of their Neapolitan flavored popcorn and took it home to share with the fam. My wife and kids loved it!
