We were riding around and he decided to head for the candy store to see if I wanted to stop by. Of course I did. What's the downside of candy? Nothing! The reindeer next to the door welcomed us. There were a lot of people shopping in the store. We navigated the crowd so I could pick out some treats. Pretzel dipped in chocolate, chocolate covered gummy bears, rolls of gummy lifesavers - oooh la la. Mouth watering. The person who made the yummy brownie I got last time was there and we conversed a little. Both associates were friendly and I was glad to support a local business. Not sure how many people know that this sweet shop has some really great homemade ice cream in the back of the store...Stopped in tonight and tried the Sleepless in Seattle (coffee ice cream, & mocha chips) Jack Daniels & Chocolate Chips and 7 Layer Coconut. A lot of the candies available aren't particularly novel or hard to find like they are with some candy shops, but it's a lot of fun to be able to pick and choose a little bit of this and a little bit of that. They also serve ice cream, which is almost a must since you're already in there, and have a cooler of classic, different-than-what-you'd-find-at-the-grocery-store sodas. They have some packaged candies too that could make for fun stocking stuffers or special treats. Quarters are tight, especially in the COVID world we're living in, but it's a super cute place to pick up one, two, or a whole lot of treats in a warm, inviting setting. read more

This is a super cute little candy store nestled away in Old downtown Castle Rock near Ecclesia and The Barn. Walking inside just immediately takes you back! Lots of candy and sweets in every corner! the Ice cream looks delicious, and it looks like they rotate out the flavors on a regular basis! I'll have to try a scoop soon! I can't imagine any product being worth the atrocious service you are subjected to at this place. Went there two years ago and said "wow, that's the most miserable service I've had in a while." Gave it another shot now, two years later, thinking "what are the odds it will still be like that." Welp. Sugar Spoon agreed to host a fundraiser for our school last August and we advertised and encouraged our families to patronize the shop in order to participate in the fundraiser. Our school brought in who knows how much money to the shop and we raised $162 from this event... But we have yet to be paid. Yes, it's really been NINE MONTHS. We have tried to call but nobody ever answers and the shop mailbox is always full. (Try it, you'll see.) We've sent multiple emails with no response. We've even had PTO members stop by the shop but no help was offered as a manager wasn't available. At this point, I expect we'll never receive our fundraising check.... But keep this in mind when you choose to shop here.... That this is the way Sugar Spoon treats local schools. Shameful. read more

We have been loyal customers for several years... We LOVE their ice cream, and my kids regularly stop in to buy candy with their friends. Their posted hours have never been accurate, and we've learned to just roll with it. However, they have almost never been open the last few months, and they also don't answer their phones or respond to any social media Qs about their opening times/schedule. They have been closed the last seven times we've stopped by - all this summer, all on hot afternoons, most on weekends. Not sure if they are closed for good, or what's going on, but we carry a fairly large balance on a gift card for them since the pandemic, and are super frustrated that we aren't getting to use it this summer, and that there hasn't been any communication about what's going on... read more

This little shop is our favorite place to get a treat! Everything we have ever chosen to eat is always amazing! The ice cream is "real" ice cream and is so delicious! We have treated ourselves to the candies that are made in house and everything taste like my grandma used to make. The owners are so friendly and are doing a fantastic job with their business. They never open on time. Very misleading hours of operation. I have brought my family here multiple times and it has resulted in disappointment on numerous occasions. According to their website they were open, but the closed sign is up. For example: I showed up this afternoon at 12:30 and they supposedly open at 11:30. Head to Rocket Fizz, they are more reliable. This place is AWESOME!!! Amazing ice cream for $1 per scoop. Great variety of high quality items ice cream. Extremely nice staff. They make waffle cones behind the counter and also sell fruit they hand dip in chocolate. They also have a variety of sodas and candy for that old fashioned candy store feel. any candy you could want and $1 (large) scoops of ice cream! this place feels like the perfect addition to downtown and honestly feels like it should be in a hallmark movie at christmas. the ice cream is really good and who can beat $1 scoops? and they'll let you sample them all if you want. they also have a case of specialty chocolate items like truffles, holiday stuff, etc and while I haven't tried any yet, I can't wait to because it all looks awesome. the owners are seriously the nicest people. every time I've come in, they engage me/us in conversation and are quick to offer samples of anything--toffee, brittle, ice cream, kettle corn, etc. I've sampled a lottttt of their brittles and such and it's all really good. This shop is the definition of small town feels. It is so quant and welcoming. It's front door is open and you smell the home made waffle cones from a block away! They have a cooler full of original sodas outside in front of their store too which is a cute nostalgic touch. The walls are lined with candies in jars as well as ice cream, cotton candy (spun fresh of course) and fresh baked cookies for sale! The owners are so nice and inviting. You can also try and sample to make sure you like what you're buying! They even have candies from different countries! I'm super excited to try the various Asian candies I bought. To top it off, they are dog friendly so bring them along too! They'll love the smells as much as you do! They have a little patio table out front to sit and enjoy your treats or a couple of scoops of their ice cream. We tried the Jack Daniel's chocolate chip and coffee flavors and they were amazing!
